| description | Cor..! Just upgraded my account and getting to grips with the site.
Love this car to bits and thanks to KAMTEC for going down this classic route with their bodyshells.
I have been awe-inspired by some of the dynamite projects people are churning out on here. Keep it up! Hope I can contribute my bit with this sweet little model of mine, luv it to bits, luv the style of 'works' racing cars that dominated the 60's, 70's and 80's eras and I hope to continue with this theme. I call it a 'Continental' version because the wheels just come across that way (and I did it LHD). Minilites I tried but somehow I prefer these. I like to imagine this car on a grand tour of Europe, webers whistling away through village streets and winding picturesque roads, just like in the rallies.
Sorry about the pics but I hope you get the idea. It's a shortened M02M Chassis. At first the battery ran on one side in my vain attempt to house a full racing driver figure but it just didn't cut it so now the battery is in the usual place but angled upwards. The shell has been cut quite conservatively because I just didn't want to ruin it. There are mistakes here and there, but it's been a great learning process and my next one should be easier and reach a better level.
This project is nearly finished and I am looking forward to another classic project, bit easier because it's a lexan this time. On that point, love the ABS quality kamtec uses. Every time I touch the shell, it reminds me of only one thing; my first Sand Scorcher. Have been out of the game for over 15 years and memories just come flooding back when I handle this car.
Well, hope you like it and am gonna be here and there to contribute and participate with some of the great people and projects on here!
Cheers

verry nice sweet cars......
Quality, After living in Essex for 20 odd years I can appreciate that car. Great example
Nice one and not overdone. Like the four pics togeather.
@ Sideways-King, Cheers dude!
Sweet Mk1 Love it!
nice car nice job...
Hi Alex, very, very nice car! The M-chassis is perfect for all these little race cars. But do tell: Where did you get those nice headlamps? I need some for my Porsche 914/6 GT.
Rally and racing cars from the -60 and -70:s is really something special. These are still common here in Sweden in the vintage-rallyclass along with Volvo Amazon and, Saab two stroke and of course Bmc Cooper. Keep up the good work!
What a lovelly car ! We used to rally our mini against these back in the day, still got photos I took on the stages from Norfolk to North Wales to Derbysire - great times, great memories
Very tidy job, looks great with both styles of wheels. Good enough to be a tamiya release detail wise
Fantastic. I love it. To me the Mk1 was and is still one of the most fun to watch rally cars of all time. We will still be lovin these cars in 20 years. You have done a brilliant job on this little car. Well done.
I like the wheels on the last photo have you thought about paining the spokes the same blue as the stripes or even white. Look at my M01 Granada banger photo 1 as this is what I did on my wheels. Can we have some more photos of the beast outside.
Oh what a cool car!! These were very popular in Sweden back in the days (the fullscale ones), used by many rallycompetitions! Great work
That Mex looks the dogs nads I really like this one and its now in me Favs
Cheers guys! Will probably try to do the RS2000 version one day. Nice idea with the bumpers frog_frogette1, hmmm... will keep it in mind, and amigamad, 2.1 pinto..! Phwoar..! Damn fine block! Things have changed so much with cars nowadays, working on a project, tinkering round the scrap yards, it seems to have all gone. I haven't seen a MK1 for how long I can't remember! This will do for now!
Absolute superb looking car .A friend of someone i use to work with had a real mark 1 with the bubble arches it was lowered and changed to capri suspension and brakes a tuned up 2.1 pinto instead of the 1300 i think it started with, it had nice alloys and was an amazing car and was painted black, i got picked up in it a few times when some of us from work went out night clubbing a real head turner and it had big bore exhaust you could hear for miles it also had large rally spotlights fitted. Its amazing how much mark 1 and 2 escorts go for now even a rotten shell makes a fortune .
That must be the best MK1 on tamiyaclub. Excellent work, I had a mk1 Kamtec van I also had spots up front and used cut down Mini bumpers up front and rear to make 1/4 bumpers.
That is great!! Most succesful Rally Car ever you know
Brilliant, very inspirational. Where did you find those spot lights? I wish Kamtec would release the 1/12 body in lexan and release the stickers you used for the 1/10 scale lexan version that they do have.
Stunning mate. Got some loud old skool Red 5 spoke dished wheels, that would look stunning on a white shell. (Check out the Golf VR6 in my showroom)
looking the tumbnail I thought it was a BMW2002tii. But your Escort is nice too. Unlike the Fords of today the old Escorts and Capris were right up there with Alfa Romeo, BMW and Porsche. These days you gotta have a Ford GT40 if you want a respectable Ford with heritage.
Very nice looking little car you have there, I like it
nice work, good to see something different on an m-chassis!!!
You've Done a Great Job Here! Especially As It's Your First Entry. I'm Very Much L@@king Forward to Seeing What Other's You Turn Out! 'Brilliant'
The Escort MKI is so cool! I love this car! Great to see a desent Ford Escort shell. I've seen others, but don't think they are scaled right. This one looks perfect. Love the front lights and your choice of colors. Great work!
Very Nice! The wheels fill the bubble arches nicely...Lovin the Cibies too!
that looks cool mate
This is a great rallycar. he has bin great sucesses in the rallysport.
That looks great! Allways loved these cars when i was a kid. Think i still have a scalextric one somewhere. Nice job!!
(AD) Cheers guys, and will watch out for yours 'caprinut'. I kind of wished kamtec 'd do a MK1 capri but might be a bit hard. Some of the colour schemes are amazing for those with the cologne arches. Keep it up!
Nice!
Nice!!! One day I will build one like that. But for now I'm waiting for a Kamtec Capri MkIII, that I gonna put on my M01
that's very cool
