Some sneak peak pictures of what will be my Surf Baja Sand Scorcher. As a surfer, and a VW fan, with a pile of after market hop ups for the SS, I made a scratch built 1/10 surf board and started the build.

The body is an original Sand Scorcher body, so I will only do minor mods to it. These are/will be a custom time correct roof rack to fit the surf board, various joints are filled in and sanded down, the window is from a Monster Beetle, and the side windows are cut away and sanded to mimic what one would do on a warm summer day out surfing (also good to fit the driver, as he can have an arm hanging out or something).

The chassis is a more complex selection of after market/hop up parts. Like my Superlative Conspiracy Baja bug, this is packed with great parts that many here on TC make(d). So far they inlcude:

- Shodogs great alu front and rear cage

- Rads awsome alloy wheels (SS box art version), but I will fit a set of Rads RR wheels, and tires that I have ready

- Rads gear box alu covers

- Mikes realistic stinger

- Fibre Lyte black carbon chassis

- TeamFastEddy silver hex screws (only where they are mounted onto parts that are silver colored, the rest is original black ones that are fitted onto black parts - details my-boy, details)

- Chassis skid plate by Jerry (Pleiku - bro, where are you these days?)

I opted for a driver figure with an afro like hair doo, to make him look like a surfer, I have another one in the mail, with a Hawaiian shirt, eating an apple, not sure which one I will use yet. Either one will have some leg surgery.

I have designed a set of scale surf/skate/snowboard decals from brands I ride, sent 'em to WillyChang (PandaGFX) and they are now ready do be applied (the surf board already have some applied) - when I decide on what color this bug will have. I have primed the exterior, and sprayed the interior matt black. I really want to do a matt black car soon, but as the SS has so many body details that are black, this will have some other color. I have done some tests with Gun Metal, but even that is too dark I think, so trying out some original VW colors.

I will post a more detailed parts list when I get this puppy done.

1 where's the spit bucket dude? 1 not many orginal parts in there

It's Carlito alright He's actually chewing an apple, hence the chubby cheek I have another one in the mail, sporting a hawaiian shirt that I might use instead... I'm not into WWE, but he's the one that looked most like a surfer.

Thanks for the comments guys. As for the color, I have been thingking about Light Gun Metal - which looks ace on my Wild Willy TLT crawler, but I kinda want to do something different this time, and in one color only...

i would like a second srb but i'm not sure i would fell the same about it next to my original. doing it this way, i would be buying 90% of it brand new. This has inspired me, it looks fantastic fella, the action figure looks great, how tall is it?
