Here we go a dream come true! Finally i’ve been able to finish my Playtron Viva Arizona runner.
In my opinion one of the best looking and rarest frame buggy of the 80’s made for US market only, since here in Europe we had only the Mercedes 500K version.
I’ve been looking for this car for ages and now I’ve it ready to run!
Considering the result will be hard to use it but that’s what i wanted when i started this project, I’ve another one complete and ready to became a shelf queen in box art.

This one has been professionally power coated in orange, use a Team Associated .15 motor modified by my US friend Brian to fit the Playtron chassis and to be fired with a “power stick” in a drill.
Stock, this car has an electric self starter powered by a 9,6V battery, very unusual for a 1982 car, but it’s not strong enough to turn the .15.
The roll cage has been soldered to make it stronger for running, stock it’s kept together with small screws….

Hope you will enjoy the pics.

Bye
WWD

NOTE: Anyone that need help/advice about this car or just have something related with it feel free to email me, i'm always available. I can also help with spares.

Nice work! Stock engine for this was an O.S. .10 or an Enya .10. Mine is on the verge of being finished and thanks to the times I got it for a sweet price! Thanks for the inspiration on the paint job, I think I am going big metal flake green from the Manx line of 1/1 buggy's. You mentioned spares, any stickers? Great job!!!

Definitely a very cool buggy. Perhaps as cool, as it is rare.
This one looks outstanding and would have to rate right up there on my wanted list.

Too bad this is missing 6 pieces from the cage. Having the seats however is just as good. Most are missing the cover for the box, which is the seats. The last one I found came with 2 gallon zip lock bags of parts. The screw problem with the cage could be fixed with TIG or I used 2MM screws and nuts, it is tight now and removable. Try a LiPo battery and the starter, it will turn it!

Very Nice! Any chance you have a scan or so of the manual?
