Street Scorcher, part 1 - Sold
Hello Boys and Girls,
Now for this one, I must say credit goes to _Miga_ who gave me the inspiration for a Street Scorcher project. I must also give credit to one forgotten TC hero who went by the name of LeMans-RC. He is no longer on TC but you can still find his showroom entries if you look hard enough. He built the most beautiful Street Scorchers I have ever seen
A while ago, I picked up a Lancia 037 Rally and saved the body for a future (and unseen yet on TC - tease, tease) project. So this one is basically a TA03-RS topped with a Blitzer Beetle shell.
I lowered the chassis to the max by using the short shock ends and I had to gently butcher the suspension arms for the shocks to fit, but it works. I built this cool bumper with 6mm alloy shaft. I had to cut a part of the rear of the chassis to fit the motor which isn't finished yet. This motor was bought in kit form from a TC member, and I can't say I'm pleased with it because of missing parts and very poor molding and fitting (especially since I saw the original one from a 1/9 kubelwagen modelkit). Anyway, I did what I could with it, and there is a lot more work to be done to make it look like the real deal.
A few words about the shell: everything went right, painting was good, no major paintbleeds, then came the time to clear coat it. As usual, I wanted to do things too fast, and sprayed way too much. On some places, the blue paint ran, showing white under, even the decals's ink bled...So my option, rather than doing it all over again, is go for the rusty look. I'll get that product that simulates rust and give the shell a nice old and battered look.
To be continued...
