| description | Managed to find some time today to dry-build some of my recently aquired SRB bits (enough to build the car other than radio box). Special thanks to Tony (The Buggy Man) for sorting me out with the brass torsion bar coupler yesterday. Dry build was so that I could decide what I wanted to do with it. The original idea was to have all the alloy parts bead-blasted and then possibly experiment with some anodising or plating. I'm glad I did the dry run because I'm starting to like the look of the 'matt' alloy parts against the polished bits like the brass UJ's and stainless steel screw set from twiningMike that I'm using. I was also thinking of spraying the inside wheel sections with a teal colour which is the 2nd tone of the 2-tone paint job I want. But now I'm thinking I quite like the look of them with the creamy white colour of the plastic. The wheel outers are Rad22Rad's Awesome Alloy Scorcher set and are amazing. These pics don't do justice - only digital camera I have to hand is on my cellphone - sorry about the quality! Rad - your wheels are amazing and you're a true gent - thanks for all your help. The carbon chassis came from Paul (Loaded) and looks fantastic against the bright and matt parts. Really happy with that. Body is a Monster Beetle which I've so far only primered and rubbed back. Should get around to top coats this coming weekend. The driver came out well - quite please with him. What's left to do is put in motor and gear and motor covers but, again, having done this dry build I'm thinking now I want a set of Rads alloy covers on here. Then the lighteningrapid bumbers go on. Shocks are in the polisher to bling up the brass and I'll rebuild those this evening. Only bit I'm missing is the radio box, but the re-re of the Rough Rider completely sorts me out one of those for July and saves me from having to spend Ģ120 on eBay for a decent one, so can't wait for that to finish it off. Have decided this will be a runner. Again, the re-re of the Rough Rider has convinced me to do that as spares availability will be good again. Sorry about the crap pics - these really don't do Loadeds chassis or Rads wheels justice at all. I'll try and do some decent ones when finished. Had a lot of fun building this so far. It's pre-cursor to my restoring my 'real' SS which is in the attic and which I've owned since new. Was going to do the tire lettering today but my white paint is a little on the old side and too sticky so didn't risk it. Picking up a new pot in the morning!

Thts looking great Dean, really pleased when i see Paul's and my parts together on a project. Have fun with the rest of the build.
Looks awesome ! If you have the time or inclination, I would do the white tyrewall lettering, that should help the rims pop out !
Thanks for the comments guys - yes, the carbon chassis is fantastic - really looks good. Going to pull it all to bits again now and send the alloy parts off to be bead-blasted tomorrow. Have decided to leave them at that and not plate or anodise - I think the matt looks good with just enough bling to say 'custom' without over-doing it. Had a crazy idea for the body today using an old John Lee Hooker picture I have on a waterslide xfer. Has no rightful place on a scorcher whatsoever - wrong period, wrong image, just plain wrong. Which is why I want to do it....
I am really happy to see this car with all the custom parts, nice looking beast!
Looks great witht carbon chassis.
