| description | Hello again. Just updating my project. The goal here was to put the fine CR-01 FJ40 body onto my favorite Tamiya Chassis - the ORV 'Brat.' I loved the detailing of the FJ40 body (and especially finished in Mustard Yellow like Wyoming's XC FJ), but I also dig the bash-ability, suspension travel and speed you can get out of the old ORV Brat, so I decided to combine the two. You can link to my chassis details - this is pretty much painted and test run. Still have to add an interior and lighting. I also added the Clod Buster front bumper, and Pro Line Scaler accessories, winch and roof rack. When I had first posted pics of the work in progress, some folks commented that the chassis looked too wide. I was able to narrow the front about 6-8mm to tuck the front wheels a little more, without robbing suspension travel or compromising steering. I think it fits just about perfect (not as tucked as an XC chassis, but the ORV will run circles around it in speed, turning radius and especially jumping, with loads of rear suspension travel). Thanks for looking.

Looks good and the chassis is certainly custom, nice!!!
Now that is out off the box thinking. Really like what you have done.
Looks great, and very nice work on that Brat chassis! Love the Clod bumper.
Thanks for all the comments. The truck drives very well, just like my Super Brat with all the learnings from you folks on Tamiya Club here - OldFrogShot diff mod, Frog Universals, CVA shocks. Speed is very fast - with a soft suspension you do get some roll but the Frog chassis likes that - it seems to grip very well and not as prone to flip with a softer suspension. For off roading, locking up the rear diff is as easy as tightening the set screw. Lots of clearance underneath as well.
Rather like those black wheels on it, although may have gone for a slightly bigger size perhaps. Great job, '1st 2 shots stood out for me.
great build! It really is unique. How does it drive?
Nice car! perfect job.
Awesome - Love the extra detailing
Really works well even not being a 4wd much like the Brat actually, very unique custom project and I bet its fun!
With two spare tires, this guys ready. What a great custom chassis you've made!
That looks cool, but personally I would have left the wheels white to emulate the wagon wheels of the real deal.
Nice choice of chassis looks perfect .
pretty cool cruiser.
