description  Because everyone is posting their NIB SS I'm only going to do that when mine is built (along with some NIB's) Here's a tip to make it look like a Mk1 SS. I painted the doorhandles black and covered them with 'Chrome Bare Metal Foil' for static modelling. Then it was cut with a fresh scalpel to remove the excess foil, polished and voila! I did the same thing with the chrome striping on the side. Painting on this body is not as crisp as my NB's because this will be a runner... Hope this helps

For those who want more info: Yes it's very easy to make the lines if you cut the lines on the decal and place them on the body. For the handles I used a decal that is larger and the excess was cut away. The lines between the arches and body is a vinyl tape cut to a small stripe and placed over the clear. Hope this helps and thanks for the nice comments

I bet he used some think black tape on the 'body seams' similar to the cut lines on lexan bodies, just had a better recess for them to fall into. Nice looking work and I will have to buy some at the hobby shop next time I am in.

I'm very impressed! It looks perfect. It's impossible to paint the striping on the sides. You make it sound so easy, is it really that easy?

Nice bit of detaling, even though mine will be a rust pile I might try this for the trim, great idea.

I've been doing something similar using Alloy foil tape. The type used for aircon repairs. It also polishes up to a high shine and yep it does save a lot of grief.

@Chicago Bob: Running it together with KoenC' and RacingMaster' SS will surely affect even these areas

Wow! That's about the best detail work I've seen on a plastic kit. Looks just like a full-sized VW, even at 2 inches. Great job! By the way, when you roll it, it will flip right onto its roof, and none of these areas will be damaged.

So that's the technique to avoiding hours of precise brush work...thanks, it will come in much use to me next time I'm detailing with the silver/chrome
