| description | Due to a movement to a new home and busy times at work this build took at least 4 months. But at the end I’m really pleased with it. It’s a stock Tamiya beetle modified to a class 11 Baja Beetle. Chassis is just a standard M-04 with ball bearings, oil-shocks and stabilizer front and rear bars. On the body I made some modifications I spotted on most real class 11 Baja Beetle. The windows where cut out and some hotshot windows nettings where fitted near the drivers. I removed the sidesteps and replaced these with 0,5 mm styrene plates. Removed the front number plate in the bumper with my dremel and at the back some better looking exhaust where fitted.
For the interior I used a tamiyoman tb-01 replica cockpit. These aren’t as nicely detailed as the original tamiya ones, but once painted still looks good! I finished the interior by making a rollcage from styrene, dashboard and a spare tire behind the drivers, just like the real class 11 Baja Beetles.
I haven’t seen a roof rack on class 11 beetles yet, but I thought it would just look really cool on this one. I made the roof rack from some styrene bars and fitted some leftover lights from my Hi-Lux project.
The tires are smoothee front buggy tires, which I already used in several other tires. These are just perfect for this beetle! The wheels where painted with matt clear to get a less shiny look of the chrome.
Doing all these modifications made me spent quite a lot of hours in it, but I’m really happy how it came all together . I’m sure they were all worth it!

FGantastic theme! i like the idea of small mods to standard cars. It was fashion in Germany back in the 70ies. People did add spoilers to their standard Opel Kadett GT to give it a ralley look... And the blloon-like tires - top work!
