This 1965 magazine layout by Howard McEntee has one of the first published photos (I know about) of people driving some of the first radio control cars.
Radio control cars began with hobbyists like these using parts from model cars and other RC air and water craft.
Pages 50 and 75 mention the 1965 Toledo, Ohio RC Conference debut of the new Astroguide Corporation's Astro Car along with a boat and plane.
The car used a plastic 1:25 scale AMT 1962 Ford body with steering controlled by the single channel Astro Fli radio.
