For the 1990 season, McLaren entered the MP4/5B, an advanced version of the 1989 title-winning MP4/5.
This car received extensive refinements to improve internal airflow and overall aerodynamics, which led to the development of a more contoured body.
It was powered by Honda's RA100E 3.5 liter, V10 engine and had a six-speed transmission which was transversely mounted in front of the rear axle.
The 1990 season ended with 1988 World Champion Ayrton Senna reclaiming his World Championship title with 6 GP victories for McLaren.
