Released 29/06/1999 this kit showed a bit of a departure from the normal for Tamiya. It was to be the first of three TGX rally cars. The main difference to the TGX kit were a revised front bumper with a cut out for clearance, knobbly tyres, the gears were covered, a revised air filter and an undercowl to protect the chassis. The car was give the now standard Subaru Impreza body in 1/8 scale that Tamiya had made and put on many 1/10 kits before.
