The Porshce Carrera GT was Tamiya's first car on its revised TGS-R chassis. Tamiya made a few changes to the TGS-R over the TGS. They were fitted with oil filled shocks instead of friction dampers, full ball bearings instead of plastic and brass bushings, a speed tuned gear set and the addition of the newer FS-12SW engine. Up to the issue of the first TGS-R the FS12SS had been used. In actual fact only two parts are different on the FS-12SW (both on the carb) and the engines gave a very similar performance.
