YET AGAIN TAMIYA HAVE PRODUCED A QUALITY PRODUCT SURE TO GO DOWN IN RC HISTORY. I HAVE JUST DRIVEN MINE WITH THE FUTABA 4WD COMBO, ITS ACE, THE CAR IS BOTH FULL OF TORQUE, AND HAS A FAIR TURN OF SPEED. I WORRY ABOUT RUBBING THE WHITE WRITITNG OFF THE TIRES. ALL IN ALL ITS A VERY REWARDING MODEL, BOTH IN THE BUILD AND THE DRIVE.MAKE SURE YOU BALLRACE IT, ITS WORTH IT IN THE LONG RUN. ALL I CAN SAY IS,,,,,,,,,,,GET ONE,,,,,,,,GET ONE,,,,,,,,,,GET ONE,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is my first 3 speed vehicle so I cannot compare it to the old ones. I built this kit straight from the book, only adding ball bearings. I used the recomended Futaba radio, futaba mc230cr, futaba high torque servo. It was a clean and simple build although it does take a lot of time and may not be ideal for a total newcomer. I had no problems with any parts and the quality of the parts is top notch. After a few days of building in the evenings I was ready to try it. It worked perfectly and shifted easily after only a few minutes of practice I was upshifting and down shifting and I am now wondering why I never tried an original one. These are very fun to drive if you appreciate scale more than speed. The suspension is very stiff just like my real heavy duty truck. With the diffs locked it crawls very well, and by unlocking them with the cool pin it drives great on the street with no roll over problems. I have now added 2.2 wheels and despite warings in book to use only factory wheels it ran great and climbed even better although I suspect it will shorten gear life. I enjoy this truck more than any I have ever had and with my love of scale and building projects I am sure i will be buying more of these fantastic models.
