It's hard to believe that one of Tamiya's first 10 kits has never had a review (as of January 200! Especially this kit! Wow, this CS Competition Special kit took the original 58005 LP500S and put the go with the show. For starters, the original 2nd generation chassis was stiffened for the 'CS' 58008 kit by using a thicker aluminum plate. Other 'CS' upgrades included changing the original RS340 motor and installing the more powerful RS540. Ball Races were pre-installed for the rear axel, and a special package included 4 ball races for the front wheels. To handle the added power, the rubber tires and scale wheels were replaced with wide foam tires at the rear, and dual compound rubber/foam tires up front. Steering was beefed up by using Cast Metal Uprights. Build options included a direct drive rear gear, or diff. The kit came with a Tamiya 'pigtail' for the (then) new Ni-cad batteries. The fantastic polystyrene plastic hardbody was molded in Black with a Chrome rear wing, rather than all white of the original 58005 LP500s kit. Due to the (now) small 1/12th scale, and very light aluminum chassis, this car will fly! I have an original runner with an RS540 Sport Tuned and a 7.2 V Hump Pack, and all I can say is the car is ridiculous. No suspension + Limited traction + Bare bones basic design + Fantastic scale body = Perfection!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
