Blazing Blazer is Toyota Hilux's sister. It was a cheaper way Tamiya gave to enter her fantastic world of 3 speed gearbox trucks! A less detailed body than Hilux and a standard speed control (not the sophisticated transistorized one that was available with Hilux) were able to drop list price a little.
However it was not so popular as Hilux, infact it only appears in 2 catalogs. Today is one of the most collectable ladder frame trucks. Its racing scheme and aggressive look make it one of the most favourite. Running it will ask everyone to take care: every 3spd truck suffers from rollover, expecially in turns, and Blazing Blazer, althought wider tires, was the most delicate with its fragile roof and wing. Differences with Hilux are very few: body, speedcontrol, tires, speedcontrol plate inside radiobox, external half wheel. Everything else is the same.Description by Robysoldtamiya

Absolutely love this car, the Hilux was always the holy grail when I was too young to afford it, but the blazer was even more so as it was so rare that it had an air of mistery about it, plus the bodywork and the big tyres are more suited and make it look more agressive than its slightly more expensive sister. Have a restord example now, but find these cars better to look at than too run, the suspension is soo awful (even with mods) that they just look a bit crappy when they run. AMAZING ENGINEERING , NEVER TO BE REPEATED. BUY ONE NOW.

I knew of Blazer only in 1997, after I bought my Hilux. Saw it in a RC catalog and thought it was nice. LUCKYLLY I foud a NIB body by a friend for $25 (still crying JO?) that was then built and painted black. Found NIB tires too in a LHS so my Hilux was converted into a Blazer for some runs. It was surely great to see it run, but Hilux was better. My body was then keept in the box until I found a Blazer chassis to give it.
