  1. I think we are all right as far as copyright goes as long as we don't use thier logo anywhere, so no tamiya stars on the T's I'm afriad - but thats ok because they look cool enough without them
  2. According to my Tamiya Bible, Model #31 the Brabham BT50 BMW Turbo (Competition Special) is exactly 20 years old today (30 Sept 1982) How time flies... If my japanese is any good (read complete guess work) It sold for the huge price of 6300 Yen back in the day - Thats £33.00 in todays money.
  3. I've cleaned out scratches before (on my wild willy screen) using brasso (metal polish) It worked for me. Test it on a small bit first - just in case. Chris
  4. Don't get me wrong - I'm not knocking them. In someways I think they are actually more interesting than the originals. You certainly see much fewer of them on ebay. Cheers Chris
  5. By fake I mean third party HB whole car copies designed to look like the HB. Like this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...item=1759697269
  6. ... only time to grab one model...which do you go for? personally I'd probably go up in flames, while trying to make up my mind.
  7. I thought they were all blue. I know the fakes came in 4 or 5 different colours though. chris
  8. Appears we have made the papers... Here a clip of an email Stu sent me "..have you seen this months edition of RC CARS magazine??? it's a US production. ... this month it's about the Super Champ, nice write up, but in a nice big bold box who gets a superb write up?? Only Tamiya Club !!! Very nice!!! .." Thanks to Richard Trujello for writing the piece - all publicity is welcome (as long as its good
  9. I think stu has just been a bit on edge since all his toys have been packed away...
  10. thanks for all the great feedback guys - nice to know you find it all useful (always makes me feel there is a big 'BUT...' coming at some point though
  11. I agree it would be on top of my 'must buy' list, especially not for that money.
  12. what do they know about you that we don't?
  13. something in another thread made me think of this and it might be a complete newbie question that I have just missed for the past 12mths on ebay but is it possible to put a bid in which is more that just the last bid. eg current bid is $3.00, you know the reserve is $50.00 so you want to bid $60.00. I think I am missing something at the moment, but I've bid on a number of items with reserves where the bidding just hasn't gone high enough, even though my top proxy bid was higher than the reserve price Chris
  14. this has already been raised in one of the other threads... come on Newbie keep up. All members must read and digest all new threads at least 3 times a day. To prevent duplicate posting.
  15. I don't want to anyone to get into naming names here - so try and keep this one general but I just wandered what you tend to do when purchases/trades you have made fail to show up. Whats the course of action if its insured or not. Whats the longest you have waited before something has arrived in the post? Just asking because I made a deal with a guy in Hong kong and he got my stuff within a few days but I am still waiting 4 months later for his part of the deal to arrive. He sent it surface mail which he says can take a while... Interested in both sides of the story, senders and buyers on this one. [remember I don't want this to disintegrate into any personal arguements about who has sent what to whom] Chris
  16. Both great sites with a lot of info there. I visit them everyday. http://www.tamiyaworld.com and http://www.tamiyabible.com
  17. Sniping is all part of the game, you snipe and you get sniped. It a kind of "High risk, High return" sort of thing. When it works you can get yourself a bargain. But, boy, do feel gutted when you snipe too low a figure and don't get time to bid again
  18. This isn't fialised yet but New Built = exactly that, built from all new parts. With only test runs allowed. As soon as it gets a bump of some sort or exceeds 5 test runs its becomes a 'Runner' - there is nothing to stop you mentioning in your description though how infrequently it has been run for example. 'Parts' are in the drop down menu that lists all the cars - there a bunch of none car items towards the end. You are right that the isn't a classification for the parts though in terms of Runner,New built etc, except possibly for Project or NIB. I'll have a think about this.
  19. There do seem to be quite a few HB fakes around, fairly easy to spot though. Generally softer pastic, no driver, sometime a sound box attached, I think the chassis had a lid(?) SNollan is the biggest HB fake expert I know- I think Theo has one too. Chris
  20. The basic rule for the showroom is this. It is intended to show off your collection. If your collection is 27 NIB Strikers - that is fine put them all in each as seperate car I don't see this as artificially bumping up you figures you are just displaying your collection.(you may be asked to prove you have all 27 though and not just 27 pictures of 1 NIB set). I agree that putting different bodies on the same rolling chassis is also a no no. Thats either one car with a spare body or one car and the body listed as parts. Problem is I put these things in the small print - but no one ever reads that right? How many of you realise when you signed up you agreed to give me you whole collection after 12 months?
