  1. To try and solve this what I need to know is. Is it any particular manuals? Is any particular pages? Any particular resolutions? Any particular time of day? Any particular days of week? etc etc. If several of you are having problems and can answer these questions I might be able to build up a picture of what is happening. Cheers Chris
  2. Not sure about that one Theo... Just explain how you would define a 'perfect restore' if its all new bits then is it not a 'New Built'? Maybe 'restored' as a category should just go - as it is more a process as opposed to an end result like the other. You could restore something to a runner, to NIB, to shelf queen etc etc etc. This is all proving to be quite tricky.
  3. I quite like the idea of 'Sunday Best' and 'Backyard Basher' any other thoughts?
  4. I'm looking into it - could be a while. In the meantime you can always stick something into your signature - same graphic just a different place on the page...
  5. I don't know about you but I was surprised at the interest that this item is getting. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...item=1766288873 Don't get me wrong I think its a really nice model, but it still seems a little high to me. Can it be people are beginning to pay big prices for anything with the VW logo on it? chris
  6. I agree New Built to Runner does seem a bit of a drop - I'm open to suggestions. I think 'shelf queen' is too vague as a New Built could be called a shelf queen too. What we are looking for are some obvious categories and definitions that everyone understands... and they are ????
  7. I think we just need to push this forward a little, as I see that people are still classifying some of thier cars wrongly, particularly under NIB and New built then they obviously are not. a standard set of definitons is a good starting part... id=quote>id=quote>or like i said I think some simple standard questions might be an idea. what do you lot think?
  8. Do you have to watch getting Nitro fuel on your skin? Can you use it more than once. Is it a 'dip and rub' type approach or leave it to soak? Cheers chris
  9. If you don't know how to use WinZip don't worry about it. It doesn't make the files any smaller, just lumps them together which makes managing them at this end a little easier. Its not a big thing. Just send the files through attached to an email. My system can take them all on one mail, but if its easier for you to split them up and send them on seperate ones then thats fine too. Just make sure its very clear what manual they all are intended for Cheers Chris
  10. I use brasso (the brass polish too) on metal and plastic bits (if I want them shiney) - its works wonders. I also use it to rub down my newly painted hard bodies (makes sure you have enough paint on first) and it brings it up to a mirror shine. To remove stick stuff like decal residue, double sided tape etc I use lighter fluid. Chris
  11. Sounds a great idea... I don't want to hijack someone elses event/idea but Tamiyaclub would definately like to take part - I should have the tshirts done by then, so maybe some freebies. Maybe we could have an underground swap/race meeting later in the day in a carpark some where Keep us posted.
  12. If they are supplied as scans (same spec as the manuals) I will add them - no probs. I do not want to duplicate any thing which is on the Tamiya site already though.
  13. I thought calling the link 'home' was enough of a clue...
  14. I'd like to see more metal bits like the good old days of the SS/RR etc. Always felt you building something more than just a toy model... Also I prefer hard bodies over lexan ones everytime, maybe each model should come with one of each - a display body and a runner bod. Chris
  15. As a rule of thumb 1 dollar = 1 Euro So I reckong thats just a $8.00 opening bid...
  16. Any tips? One colour bodies take lone enough, so when you start doing the ones that take lots of colours or worse still the drivers, which use about 5 colours each. Spraying a coat then waiting hours can make the whole process takes weeks. Anyone got any tips for lexan or hard bodies which speeds this up a little? Cheers Chris
  17. Lister, Thanks for the offer of the manual - unfortuantely digital photos are just not up to the required standard. You are more than welcome to send in the original though, which will scan and return to you. Or you could take it into to one of local Tamiyaclub scanning centers where it can be done while you wait. OK I just made that up but its an idea - any volenteers for regional 'Scan Coordinators' ? Regards Chris
  18. I had some fantastic results with nail polish a while ago on a couple of old lexan shells, but then another couple when completly frosted so I gave up and started looking for something else.
  19. I'm not a seasoned pro at this but I've used both pieces of CDs and CD cases to strength cracks even rebuild missing bits. Put these bits across cracks and use good old araldite to glue it and its not coming off. Failing that most LHS actually shell sheets of plastic for 'real' model makers. Again just use them to reinforce by glueing across the repairs - this stuff is much easier to cut then CD's BTW my blackfoot has got a crack in exactly the same place Chris
  20. Hi Shen, 'A Shade Below's forums are run by vbulletin, which can;t be used here for three reasons. Firstly they charge for the use of thier software, secondly the license doesn't allow me to change the code as I can do with snitz and finally it runs of PHP and mySQL which I don't have intstalled on my servers. Spell checking is a nice idea, but i don't think its going to happen any time soon (you'll just have to practice your spelling off line
  21. I can either take a month or so to do a completely different one - or do another in the same style (the further adventures of Moko) in a couple of days - how soon do you want one? Or I could spend my time do the artwork for the repro SS decals as I promised a while back... So much to do so little time... It doesn't help that I just got an Xbox - its somewhat 'distracting'
  22. Sorry one of the promises we made to members upon signing up is that we would not publish email addresses. Unfortunately it is a all or nothing type thing, we can't turn it on for some an not others. As we have 300 members now and only 60 or so using the forums, we can't change the rule just for the few. That said I have now added and additional box to everyone forum profile details called 'Bio'. You are free to add anything you like to this box (as you are with your signature) so if you want your email appearing in your profile - this is the place to put it. Just trying to keep everyone happy
