Hilux Gearbox - Any Variants ( Mk1 , Mk2 ) ?
robysoldtamiya replied to Live Steam Mad's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Hi, welcome to the vintage 3spd world There were not differences in casting gearbox halves, but there have been differences in gears material. Some of early Hiluxes had some aluminium gears inside, that were changed to brass in all other version up to Mountaineer. Those Hiluxes had also different wheels hub caps: they came without the locking washer inside, and worn out pretty soon. I run my Hilux stock from the day I found it on 1996 and I never broke anything on it. On my Bruiser I had rebuilt almost everything since I run it total locked 4wd in all gears and have a locked spur. I even went to rebuild the double gears inside and all gears in the counter shaft using 32p pinions -
I simply had to do it, to remember the days If you are on Facebook and want to join

Hello to all, I'm proud to show you my new project I worked on in last months. They idea is to sell replacement parts for out lovely Scalers and Crawlers. I opened the web shop in September and tested for Italian customers with good results. Now I'm ready to open it for all European customers, but I made only small tests with few customers. Please accept any error and don't get angry with me I hope you'll like it www.thescalerstore.com http://stores.ebay.it/The-Scaler-Store Roby

Hi there, it's a life from my last login. I wanted to say a big HELLO to everyone I know here. Sometime I came to read some posts, and still see some of the names I used to talk with years ago: Stule, Willychang, Shodog, RetroRC, etc etc Well I'm not out of the hobby, I didn't leave it. I had to reduce drastically time for it, and choose the better part of it: building and running rather than cleaning, removing paint, etc. For the ones who remember, I left you when I closed the Vintage Board, and this happened in 2002 when my first daughter was born. Yes 1st, now I have 2 One is 6 the other is 2. Noone cares about Tamiyas or maybe better I forgot about the hobby for months, even if sometimes, expecially in summer season, I was able to close myself for hours in my basement when all them were in holidays. So I was able to build something new or repair pile of broken cars that wasn't able to repair during the year. My love for Tamiyas didn't change, but I had to reduce my collection and give space to the babys. Actually I'm more into Scalers than Old Tamiya, if you remember I was, and still am, a great lover of the 3 speeds models. I'm running a board here in Italy with a friend about Scalers and Crawlers, it all began as a joke last year and now we are the most important The forum here become very BIG: I'm impressed how many users are registered. Tamiya did made a great contribution to RC History and I'm proud of been able to hold some of the best cars they made !!! Hello again friends, keep up the good work Roby

3 Speeds: Most wanted parts list??
robysoldtamiya replied to gmr101164's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Hi, I have several years of use into my Hilux (from Dec '96!) and never broke anything. It is all stock except ESC and ballbearings. Can't say the same for my Bruiser, it has some years of use and abuse and I broke several gearbox gears. I have to say that my bruiser is no more stock, I have full 4wd in all gears and I also run rear hubs in front axale for a locked 4wd. I have some stronger parts into it, like Eangle front axale, hub shafts and locked spur gear. It is a truck that gives pleasure whe I run it Roby -
Hello Kaindi, I have a nib bruiser bed. I'm after some hilux/blazer new parts: rubber motor cover 3xservo saver spring 1xhub cap all spacers from spacers bag Let me know if we can deal cheers Roby

I just found the other day that both G parts you need to lock rear diff will work in the front too ! Luckily I had 2 sets of G trees and was able to lock my Pajero both axales. Awesome performance in off road ! Roby

Gap in Tamiya truck product numbers?
robysoldtamiya replied to Live Steam Mad's topic in General discussions
I think that ..308 and ..311 could be King/Ford metallic special versions. Roby
