  1. Prices have been crazy since the lockdown started. I’m bummed also as I would have liked to get one more 40th/black kit at around $250.
  2. The older battery you speak of is the 5 cell 4000 mah pack. They don’t make them anymore and these weren’t all that great to begin with. With a stock MSC a good 7.2 volt nimh battery is what you need. Not sure what your budget is but to make a good runner you would be better off going 2.4ghz radio to ensure reliability and a good brushed esc with reverse.
  3. Here is my lunchy. New built long before the rere. Rare TMS aluminum wheels Probably the rarest of all lunch boxes is my new built Snap-on Promotional Lunchbox with JPS aluminum wheels.
  4. I’ve been having too much fun with it. The beach runs were the final blow and has taken its toll on the parts. Rear bearings were shot. Front caster block lost one of the king pin screws. Along with the drive shafts getting sloppy. A set front mip driveshafts along with new bearings are in order. I’ve been chewing through spur gears and I suspect plastic flex so I went with an HR aluminum motor mount which also has the larger main bearing. A new spur gear and I dropped two teeth on the pinion cause the motor has been getting burning hot and going into thermal shutdown.
  5. Got some new rubber today. A set of Proline badlands for the dirt and some proline sling shot paddles for the beach. It so much fun with the paddles
  6. It would have to be my Traxxas UDR. It under built for how fast it is so it’s easy to break. on my second run with it. The plastic wheel hex’s flexed causing so much heat it melted the rear wheel off.
  7. Was finally able to find a set of front tires. My LHS has been out for a couple of weeks. Got the rears all assembled. Car looks beautiful with the wheels.
  8. You’re right I have ran quite a few vehicles on the beach. My girl loves the beach so I’ve been buying things that keep me occupied while she soaks up the sun.
  9. Took it to the beach yesterday and had a blast with it. The sunset was beautiful.
  10. Received my Marton Brothers wheels today. They are much lighter that I thought they would be. Popped them apart and polished the barrels. Painted the centers with Tamiya translucent orange paint which gives them a cool anodized look. 87lc2 This Malibu body is a bit wider than the stock body that’s why the wheels are so tucked in.
  11. I think it was Rad alloys that made some 5 spoke wheels. They were way more expensive than the Asian sellers
  12. I reordered one in late November. Surprise surprise nothing has shown up except for his excuses.
  13. This segment of R/C has been growing quite steadily here in the states. I picked this up recently to see what all the excitement is about. I think some marketing genius came up with a DR10 to get rid of all their B5 inventory as a few things are interchangeable. The motor that comes with RTR is pretty tame. Even with 3s I can hardly get the front wheels in the air. I’m not planning on competing so I’m going to put some ludicrously fast. The stock body really isn’t my taste. I picked up a Proline ‘78 Malibu Classic which I like much better.
  14. I prefer the look of the Baja bug to the Short course body. I ran it around my street before it started raining. Love how it squats and the front wheels balloon on acceleration
  15. I’ve been flogging this truck pretty hard for the last year. I have to say That after the huge disappointment my Traxxas UDR is, I’m really impressed with this Slash. 3s coupled with the VXL brushless hurls this truck into some major crashes. So far collateral damage has been an upgrade to MIP rear driveshafts, a new spur gear and switching the suspension arms for ones from RPM. The stock body shows the scars of my reckless driving I was lucky enough to get a slash body painted by Andy Jacobsen. This body is a work of R/C art so no way I’m gonna run it. While I was in Colorado last year I picked up a Proline Baja Bug body. Finally got around to painting it this weekend. I’ve been wanting to try Translucent green on a body and I figured this would be a perfect canvas. The green backed with gold looks really nice. I may use it for other projects.
  16. Most I spent at one time was $2k buying 26 cars from Skottoman. No regrets there. Biggest regret is selling a new in the bag MIP 4wd kit for $1200. Jackarse pestered me for a month to sell it to him and how he always wanted one. Couple of months later he sells it on eBay for $2400.
  17. Nothing like beating on your Willy at the Beach
  18. I’ve tried my pumpkin in the snow and it was a no go. You need to have four wheel drive and preferably a boat load of power. Last year I was was working out of Denver Colorado for 6 months. While there I bought a slash VXL. The pics below were out in the parking lot before work one morning. I have driven it in much deeper snow. Once it gets planing on the snow it really goes.
  19. Everybody bad mouths the 30th anniversary wheels. While they may not look as cool, the centers don’t shatter into pieces like 40th anniversary wheels do.
  20. I’ve been cheating on miss Tamiya for years now and I’m not ashamed to say it. She is a good solid gal but some times I need to get some real piece of T and A At the same time I was giving it hard to Yoko If she isn’t doing it for me I call up my girl Losi I think you’d be lying if you didn’t admit you’ve dabbled with traxxas girls. She doesn’t even mind a Menage a trois with others I ain’t ashamed to admit that I have a thing for HoneyPI too. but lately I’ve been down and dirty with Axial
  21. Well now I’m not so sure. The rim is supposed to be the BBS LM. You can buy them two different ways
  22. You’ve got it done correctly. Most, including myself, have them painted incorrectly.
  23. Lots of good advice. Build it with bearings. Take your time on the transmission. Braid the wiring looms of the MFC to keep them looking tidy
  24. The 934 body is probably my favorite one from Tamiya so when they released the 40th anniversary and black Porsche I went nuts and bought a few kits and bodies. I was lucky enough to get #14 of 333 of the Tamico release and I plan on keeping it NIB. I see you have a Lancia 037 project. Would be cool to have a 037 body on top of an 40th anniversary chassis.
  25. That turned out great. Those bodies require more work than most. I’m surprised you built that kit. Most will probably be kept NIB. I agree with you that it’s just a rebadged black kit but with only 333 kits released, it will become a sought after kit.
