    RC-10

The ORIGINAL gold tub RC-10 is an all time classic competition buggy, it put Accociated Electrics on the map and dominated the Pro racing scene for years, it was one of the first Buggy to have that definitive shape and set up that all comp buggy conform to theses days, its direct decendents are still winning races to this day. I'd love to own one of the original unmodified ones cos its a piece of RC history.
  2. I know that the site had been having some major difficulties during its final weeks on the old server and some of the less essential services had to be sacrificed in order to keep the job going but now that the site has relocated to the new server, is there any chance we can have the member list back??? It was nice to come online and see who else was looking at the site, but the Member list dissapeared a number of weeks ago and there has been no explination as to why, not that anyone else seemed to care it hads gone but I do, I assumed it had been taken off to allow for smoother operation of the site, but now that new server is here and Chris is talking of all manner of new features to come surley bringing back the Members list isnt too hard a task to undertake, and it would also be nice of in addition you can have lets say a red (*) next to the members name to signify that they were in the chat room at that time thus making it easier for ppl to know when the chat room was occupied. Just a thought Chris and yes I KNOW you are very busy but if you find the time, any chance you could make this happen. [|)]
  3. for the most part Tamiya and Kyosho cars are as different as chalk and cheese, Tamiya cars tend to be more plasic toy like chassis but with realistic looking highly detailed bodies where as Kyoshos are for the most part more professionally engineered for competition from FRP, aluminium and other tough materials yet have basic functional bodies by comparison. simularities beteen the two makes arnt as common as you think but there are some exceptions to the rule, for instance the early Kyosho effort (which ukstyle recently bought to my attention) called the Eleck Peanuts!! its a Dune buggy with a striking resemblence to the Sand Rover and yet it appears to be of far better quality finish than the Tamiya car, The Sand Scorcher like car you mention is the Scorpion Beetle which does look uncanny but has a far more competative chassis under it than the so called "Tamiya Special racing buggys" I've also noticed one of their latter 4WD cars The Shadow which has a chassis that bears a striking resemblence to the Hotshot/Boomerang cars.... and lets not forgat the Pegasus which shares a remarcable simularity with the Falcon, although I belive the Pegasus came out before the falcon, I think Tamiya Copied Kyosho on this one there could well be more models, the early Kyosho 4WD trucks could well be seen as equivelents to the Tamiya 3 speeds, but as far as Im aware there is no definitive record available of the full wealth of Kyosho cars the company has produced over the years. maybe its about time someone put the record straight and made a list of everything they have done so as to let ppl know just how big a contribution Kyosho have made to the world RC car market.
  4. I've been thinking about this little problem at work today and as my mind wondered I came up with a rough idea for a new Tamiya Buggy... making a design which harks back to the good old days of big chunky plastic parts and chassis, naming it after a kind of creature as with a lot of the early Tamiya Buggies and yet fitting it with an inovative type of suspension system which is common on real road cars and yet has never graced the RC scene. I present to you the Gekko! a 2WD painted green (of course) with a rear wing slogan of "STICK THIS!" the car has a wide body with flowing wheel arches, inovation comes in the form of McPhearson Strut suspension all round!! and the top strut mounts are hindged in the middle on top of the chassis like a see-saw to to give dynamic anti-roll stability without the need for roll bars on the front, the rear suspension is even more unique thanks to a semi-floating gearbox.. I KID YOU NOT, its like the front only its hindged at the bottow so the whole thing tilts allowing for centre of gravity shifts on the super elevation of turns. the whole package will in effect tilt on turns. ok I admit its just a foolish fantasy and my half baked tilting suspension theory will probably never work but its the sort of thing I'd want to see from Tamiya if they was to make a new buggy any time soon?

    Samurai Manual

I'm Hurt Liam [V] really hurt that you didnt ask me first to see if I had one before consulting the Clubmembers. I DO have a Samurai Manual as well as the seperate spares list sheet. if you ask really nicely I might just run you off a photocopy and bring it along to clumber with me []
  7. I gotta admit I've always fancied owning one of those Kyosho 1:20 scale Mini-Offroaders that they produced before the Mini-Z's there are a few members of the club that have thses, the did mini 2WD versions of the Optima and Ultima. Im not really a fan of anything less than 1:12 scale but Id soon find a home for one of those 1:20 scale beauties. this is the first time ive seen an Off-road Mini-Z though, I didnt know they did them...or are they something new? shame they only have Paris-Dakar style trucks, I imagine the chassis design is too bulky to allow a buggy version?
  8. Im totally with all you guys on this one!! its a crying shame that Tamiya has aparently turned its back on the Off-Road buggy cars. most buggys made by other manufacturers all look the same... the design of competition buggies has reached its zenith and everyone is so happy with the status quo that no one has the dared to break the stale mate and make something with any originality. I think the main reason that Tamiya has moved away from Buggies to On-road cars is that they never really had much success with their off-road cars in competions yet their On-road cars are enjoying quite a bit of success. The market for Off-road has passed us by and Touring,Rally and Super cars are what ppl want today. BUT if any company can make an outragous, chunky, plastic, Realistic looking Buggy with a silly name then it has to be tamiya. Dont pander to market trends, By daring, Be original, Be RETRO? PLEEEEESE... Make my day!!
  9. as it seems likely that there is going to be a big coming together of TXT-1's [] perhaps it would be a good idea if you was to have some kind of small flag on the end of the antenna pipe with your user name on or something like that. it only has to be a small sticky lable wraped round the top with your name scrawled on in pen? Im also going to be writing the names of my cars on the back of the Radio transmitter I will be using with them. I dont have transmitters for all my cars unfortunatly [] will anyone there be selling spare ones?
  10. Blackrock Sands Eh? I know that place, My family allways went on holiday to north wales when I was a kid and funnily enough my earliest experience of a Tamiya car was at the Sands back in about 1983 when a kid i met there let me have a go with his sand rover..... anyway back to business. I know everyone will be taking Tamiya cars, but who else will be taking along "Other" car brands? Im taking a Raft of My Kyoshos (Scorpion,Pegasus,Icarus,Cosmo,Rocky,Optima Pro,Outrage) not to mention 2 Marui's (Hunter,Samurai) and some other Rare bits, (Futaba FX-10,Mugan Bulldog and Mardave Meteor) anyone else daring to be different, perhaps we can start a Kyoshoclub [8D]
  11. OH! BTW.... Ive now got 3 more runners than I had last week [] I will now be taking my Cosmo, Frog and Lunchbox to Clumber Park, I have also repainted the body on my Ford Ranger and Ive also completed restoring my Icarus, Shame I cant share all the lovely pictures Ive taken of these cars [] what with Tamiyaclub going through a crisis at the moment and all. I plan to fit radios to at least 2 more of my cars before the do, (Icarus & Scorpion) and I may do some cosmetic modifications to my Rough Rider, Blazing Blazer and Mugen Bulldog in time for event. one minor thought has crossed my mind.... with so many ppl in such a close proximity using their own cars and More impotatly RADIOS!! what will be the situation regarding the use of the various Frequency crystals??? I have all 6 of the basic 27Mhz AM sets + a few splits + some 75Mhz Radios and one AM set (with spare crystals) is someone going to sort out some for of rota as to who uses what and when or will it all depend on who has cars ready with Fully charged batteries at the time who gets to go first..... just a thought [|)]

  13. Here is a few more for yah.... COX (rebadged Early Kyosho buggies+some original cars?) Mugen (Bulldog,Manx) Aristocraft Hitec (Kangaroo,Dolphin,Wilderbeast) Royal (Ripper,Crusher) Playtron (Doberman,Lynx) Yankee (Electra) World Engines (Rockbuster) Varicom (Panda,Big Grizzly,Manx??) Futaba (FX-10) Monster? (not to sure of this one, I have an advert for this car?) Sinyih (Cowboy, plus some other cars I cant remember the names of) there are a few more obsure brands I have known about before that I cant name off the top of my head at this time, needless to say I have quite a few vehicals from these "other" brands in my collection and I activly seek them out, and would gladly get more ofe them should the offer present itself []
  14. I dunno about you but... I'M SOLD!!! I will definatly be going, and Im planning on taking as many of my runners as I can realistically Cram into my modest little saloon car. Clumber Park Eh? Ironically I was up in that neck of the woods just the other week when I went to Barrow Hill, which is just north of Chesterfield and just the other side of Junc 30 of the M1 from Clumber Park. A friend of mine whos also into Tamiyas but NOT a club member might tag along with me on the day, and perhaps my cousin Trabbidaz as well if hes not working that weekend. Im considering getting a few more of my cars running for the day, I have enuff spare componants to make 2 more radio sets up and I might buy a few more sets. it will be worth going just to see Stulecs ugly mug before he Emigrates anyway heres an Idea, provided you can get enough ppl attend this little get together why not take a groupe photo with all the users holding one car from their collections and them post the pic on the Tamiyaclub home page the day after!! Just Make sure you Bring your TXT-1's

    Nichimo

Well Whadda yah know. that little trick I know worked. the Nichimo Vantage is a similar car to the Spirit FF, its a Front wheel drive car with front mounted motor but its got a Full roll cage over the lexan cover a bit like the Kyosho Icarus. its got a diferent wheel design to the Spirit and has pin spike tires instead of block pattern. well there you are, you learm something new everyday. oh and that trick I know for finding pics of obscure jap made RC buggy boxes.... netsmiths give me the idea, but on http://rc-off.com/vantage.html just change the "vantage" word to the name of any Jap made RC buggy and 8-10 times it will come up with pictures of that car try it

    Nichimo

    Nichimo

as far as I know Nichimo only ever made 3 1:10 scale off-road buggies in the mid to late eighties, they were the COSMO SHOOTER (A futeristic looking RWD) the SPIRIT FF (a chunky looking FWD) and the EXCEED 443 (a complicated 4WDS with 3 diffs that used many similar parts to the Spirit FF) thay are extreamly rare cars and quite hard to come by, they do crop up on E**y from time to time and are usually MIB examples, prices vary from $50-60 for the Cosmo upto $170-200 for the Exceed with the Spirit somewhere inbetween. they seem to be very accumplised models built to a similar standard as Tamiyas but you can forget getting hold of parts or even seeing used examples up for sale cos you just dont get them. if you are looking to find one on E**y then your best off looking in the Tamiya searches
  19. Thanks for that. Ive since took the plunge and took the car to bits to see how it works. turns out that the lack of drive was caused by a loose drive cup and both ball diffs out of adjustment causing uncontrolable slip on the whole transmission. anyway its all fixed up now, and ive driven it, the 4WS isnt no my taste so Ive disconnected the rear steering for now.
  20. OK heres the latest skinny on whats happening, my mate Ritchard is going to meet with the event organiser to finalise his own display, as far as I can make out he is going to be the only collector allowed to display cars at this fair so long as he dosent do any buying and selling form his stand. its still early days yet, things could change, I will try and have words and see if its possible for more collectors to join in with the display
  21. Crazy Japanese..... Go Figure!
  22. Ive just picked up a Mugen Bulldog and its in need of some attention, but its quite a complicated car in general arrangement (4WDS) and its got a problem with the enclosed drive system in that the motor turns but the wheels dont. to find out whats wrong will involve ripping the whole car to bits cos the gearbox is the main structural member for the car. but before I get to that I want some Idea of what Im dealing with so Im asking you ppl out there, can anybody supply me with ANY information about theses cars, Im especially looking for an instructions manual. any info you can supply would be gratefull appreciated I know you can do it
  23. OK this problem seems to effect me on all manuals, all pages, Print or High resolution images mostly and sometimes on screen or medium res pages, any time, any day. hope that helps
  24. Im fed up of looking at the bare bars on my Blazing Blazer, and it will be a near impossible task to locate and afford an original set roof wing parts, so I plan to make a replacement out of plasticard. slight problem, I need someone to supply me with a set of 1:1 scale patterns for the parts so I can cut the Plasticard to the correct shape and glue together a passable replica of the original roof wing. can anyone help mw with this please?
  25. well what I was thinking was that, if some more collectors were allowed to display their cars then perhaps we could set up a small track next to the tables and at predetermined times have short demostration races, maybe have a small ramp on the circuit and a sorta lumpy offroad section so you can have 3 speeds and Monster trucks doin a bit of hill climing and rock crawling. as for T-shirs how about this for an Idea. on the back have your user name across the shoulders and in the middle have the Box spanner logo with the "2nd best tool" legend. and on the front "www.Tamiyaclub.com" across the chest and maybe the box art picture of the Sand Scorcher or Hilux underneith it. but then Tamiyaclub is your baby chris, whatever you decide is fine with me
