  1. quote:What is the status of the wheel rerelease body from tamiya. id=quote>id=quote>Watcha mean 'status', Sean? From what we've seen, Wheeler bodyparts came out about 2 yrs ago in Japan for some hobby show, pkg'd in a plastic bag with cardboard backing. Probably all snapped up by the scalpers by now & regularly dripped onto eBay. Molded in white with smoked glass sprue for the lights & glasshouse, but does not include the roof's rear aluminium spoiler (that came in the original bodyset). No white front brushguard provided either.
  2. Suspect these are all page timeout problems. Reduce the size of your pictures and try again. If you have a latest 4.0 megapixel camera, well & good, but we don't really need all that resolution and the resultant 4MB bitmap.
  3. Xenophiles amongst us you easily put their location in their 'signature', I suppose. "Stu" above is a great example!!
  4. Sean:- slight spanner in the works might be that eBay only stores its links for approx 60-90 days... so records for "Best of year" awards might need alternative verification.
  5. owww... have pity on the poor marshalls' hands!!!
  6. Or some sellers might be tempted to list theirs only when something identical sells for a good price.
  7. oooh, Al Jung! Love this guy, has often chucked in 'extra' stuff, more than you've paid for - its a lovely surprise each time. Wonder what freebies might come with the WW NIB!!?! (whoops, did I just talk it up another $300?)
  8. From a seller's point of view - WHY would sellers bother paying eBay extra for the "BIN" option?? Sure it might trawl in an impatient buyer if the price is attractive... but surely that negates the purpose of an auction? Nup, can't see the point.
  9. quote: Maybe you can glue it to the bodyshell or something? Could get messy... id=quote>id=quote> The TB01's crew comes on a very small molding, the base is only about 5"x3" so there's probably not enough fat around it to reach the side window sills on a sedan shell. You'd probably need to stick it to some other larger piece of material first. The early TA01 & re-release Lancia's interior sets are probably an easier bet.
  10. Same setup as red Modena above, but this time added some extra white flourescent lighting... not bad now:-
  11. Indoors, no window USING FLASH... but have to trial-n-error a lot to get the right angle to avoid flashspots, especially on the flat white shiny surface:-
  12. Indoor, no window... just on the limit of CCD's sensitivity (note the yellow cast from incandescent lighting):-
  13. Ultra-closeup indoors, ambient lighting without flash:-
  14. Noon time = very harsh light, not pleasant:-
  15. Here's some bad pix... Way too little light (but how else to show lights??):-
  16. Really sunny days (we're talking pure Oz sun here, maybe UK is different) can create flat pictures with harsh shadows... definitely no pix should be taken during noon hours. Overcast skies usually yield better pictures. Indoor pix must have sufficient light; digicam CCDs are usually pretty sensitive and will compensate, but you'll know its too dark when the pix come out yellow & fuzzy. On-board Flash will usually not make good close-up "macro" pix as it'll be at a wierd angle and you'll get wierd flashspots from reflective parts. But snapping Tamiyas indoors is still easy as you can just round up every single tablelamp you can get and use those instead... approx 200-300W total is good lighting. You may also want to set your digicam to 'incandescent' lighting to reduce the yellow cast; default setting is usually 'daylight' as per film. Last but not least:- "Photoshop cures many ills"...!
  17. Haha, the Yanks are taking revenge now... we get the Jeep Wrangler with a full hardtop delivered new over here in Oz. This is a huge fibreglass contraption that must weight a tonne... never seen it taken off before either - probably need a crane. Then again, given that Oz Wranglers are usually only driven by young *male* dudes accompanied by their young *male* passenger ... I'm sure they'll have enough muscle between them to lift the thing. Or is all that Buff all Bluff??
  18. quote: On the battery front front again - you can also change the way a battery perfoms - by using different methods to charge it.......there are so many tricks ............. id=quote>id=quote> Will cede the racing tips to you Darryn, for you would sure know all the racing tricks in the biz . Although I swear at one stage (early-mid 90s) everyone was busy spark/shorting their batteries right at the startline... crazy ******s!
  19. quote:Take the masking tape off as soon as you can, I left mine about a day and it reacted with the white underneath so its back in the bucket. id=quote>id=quote>I have left the yellow tape on fresh paint for extended times without damage before... but is different matter when painting the 2nd layer over, fresh paint or not. The tape is proving perhaps not impervious to spraypaint's solvent - imho this solvent soaks thru the tape and mars the masked layer. (The damage is usually only a matte effect which can be fixed with the later clearcoat, but on some metallics the metallic particles might get realigned unsightly too.) Current technique is to use the yellow tape just for its clean lines, and then infill and cover most of that with a thicker other-brand tape; seems to work well. Keep an eye out for *blue* 3M masking tape too. This is the stuff pros use for pinstriping, and is impervious to solvent. Not cheap but I'm told it works well... I'm still looking.
  20. quote:You dont have to do the green scheme - as there are in fact three different schemes (in fact four if you want to get really technical - as the black 934 had a black shell). Either way I would highly recommend going the whole hog and doing it right the first time by painting the shell in the colour scheme of your choice. id=quote>id=quote>Actually I was flicking thru some Porsche history books and imho there's actually a 5th scheme for RSRs which I've never seen on an RC. Some were raced with "Martini" livery (usual red/blue/black stripes) on a silver body... looks stunning in pix. quote:3) The tires from the Static kit are exactly the same - one of few "running" gear similarities. id=quote>id=quote>I inherited the contents of a static kit which had Dunlop treaded radials in its bubblepack; but the all RC 934/936 pix I've seen sport slicks. Nevertheless the 2 rubbers are dimensionally identical and both will fit on the same rims. (Static kit's wheels are useless for RC.) Tamiya re-released some Dunlop treads in Japan this year, pkg'd in F/R set of 4 with bronze Countach wheels. Fresh rubber in any case, albeit looking a bit plasticky shiny.
  21. Like the Taisan 911 and the IMSA 300ZX, racing Supra has 'standard' 26mm width on the front and Tamiya's "wide" on the rear.
  22. Andy, Suggest you consider all faculties before having your heart set on any particular beast - especially if you're using it as your "go-away" car at the end. We've got hotels using them as limos here in Melbourne and from close inspection, Hummer's doors aren't very big, interior room isn't very generous either (only FOUR seater!!?!). Your bride may have a lot of difficulty getting in/out whilst wearing her big 'significant' dress - of which you'll normally not have seen before. You want the day to be memorable, but only for the right reasons.
  23. Yup... M01 = M02... Some folk have even done twin-motor 4WDs! Only problem is that the front motor drives the 'wrong' way... the difference is pretty negligible if running stock 540s, but mod motors will hate it. You need to use reverse-timed motors if doing so (look for the motors sold in pairs for ClodBuster), or retime them yourself. It used to be a 'fair' tradeoff... 1) a reverse motor with better FWD handling, or 2) faster motor with RWD's twitchiness ... until the M03 came along!!
  24. Like Roby sez:- "the cheaper the better". Find what you can 'free', lotsa useful stuff gets thrown out of offices. Boxes with an A3 (= 2x A4) footprint are very handy as they fit a 1/10 car nicely, with room on the side for extras. You'd be amazed how much A4 paper an average office goes through!
  25. quote:American?? is Toyota not Japanese??? id=quote>id=quote>Hai, so desu... but only a yank/Californian dude would have to converted the base Hilux work-utility to a 'Bruiser' style personal-SUV... even sez so in the 58048 manual! They sure don't make them like that straight from Nagoya; besides today Toyota builds over a Million vehicles per year in Nth America. Heh heh, they even export some back to Japan.
