  1. Hi Drivetrain! Welcome aboard! You will find alot crazy people that become addicted to that hobby after rejoining it. When I was a youth, also my first "real" RC car was the Boomerang. I loved it and drove it to death. Since I have reentering that hobby again back in 1992 or something around that, I am still loving it. Both my kids (daughter 11 and son 9) share this hobby with me and both are running vintage Tamiya's and Scale Crawl Trucks with me. As for your car. the Boomerang was re-released in 2008 and so there are plenty of spare parts available. They all fit your original release Boomerang. I still have a vintage Boomerang new in Box waiting for the day it gets build and I go through the enjoyment I had back in 1986 when I first built a Tamiya RC model. I suggest to disassamble your car and give it a good clean and check for broken or worn out parts. As said, spare parts are available for good prices. So no worries on that. You also want to replace all plastic bearings by ball bearings. They became rather cheap in the meanwhile and will now wear as the plastic bearings do. Open the shocks and drain out old oil and replace it by new oil. Perhaps you want use an esc instead of your stock msc to gain longer running time. I don't really know how long a vintage msc can stand a modern 4000mAh racing pack (depending what racing pack you bought). However I wish you and your boys a lot of fun with your RC car and here you found the best platform for your hobby.
  2. Well, I always keep in mind what time the models were developed and what motor were available at that time. Sure you can throw in a powerful motor and run it. No question about it. The question is; will it handle that extra power? It certainly does not. I tried to run a Hornet with a Technigold. You just burning rubber but you cannot call it running a car. From start the Technigold is much to strong and at top speed, the Hornet is much to fast to keep it under control. You can do u-turns and donuts with a silver can too plus you can control a Hornet at top speed with a silver can. A Wild One is able to handle more power. I don't know if it handles a 23T RZ but it is easyer to try rather than with a Hornet. I love my FAV with the silver can. You can do drifts, spins whatever and you still can enjoy watching the suspension moving along the track. If you do that with a strong motot, it will just bounce uncontrollable over the track. It's the question whatever you prefer. I personally prefer the reasonable way of running a vintage (rere is a vintage in principal). An overpowered vehicle is just wasting the plus on power it cannot handle.
  3. I personally would not use another motor than the silver can for vintage 2WD buggies you listed up. Because of their poor suspension they cannot really handle more power. If you really want a stronger motor, I'd go for the Tamiya Sport Tuned. That motor provides a lot of power and you can run your model very long though. But be sure you go with a lower gear ratio. I run all my vintage 2WD buggies and even my Super Shot with standard silver can (modern one of corse) and I have loads of fun.
  4. The factory finished Hotshot body is for my re-re Hotshot that is missing the body and the Hotshot Kit is for my new Hotshot Project
  5. Do I see a competitor in regard of collecting Mk1 Hotshots growing up here....?!
  6. I see. Thanks for explaination. I thought the re-re ORV Chassis have more differences than just that extra hole. I only have original vintage ORV Chassis. Btw. what was this extra hole meant for?
  7. Guys! What's the most recogniseable difference between the original and the re-release Monster Beetle? I know it must be the dog bones and maybe the space Frame is prepared for no msc usage like the Frog I assume. Something else?
  8. ****! I was in contact with this guy also and he told me that he found the skid. I ended up forgetting to be online and place my bid in time - **** it! I just wanted to have Mk1 spares.
  9. Ah okay. Well, obviousely it was the vido converter I had downloaded. I found that VOB files can be opened with vlc media Player. So no Need to convert them. I will check the Downloads this Weekend.
  10. I knew it was not new build. I Could tell from the little wear of the tires of the auction pictures. But as no pictures from the underside were available it was gambling. There are scratches but nothing broken - that's important. All in all this is a good used true Mk1 which is important for me. It must not be new build. All those used models have a history and can tell stories. Even when they are restored they have had live in them and they made children or youth very happy back in the days when they were build and used to run.
  11. Downloaded all of the Videos from Google drive. However, when converting into mpeg's, they are just 24 or 40 seconds Long. I know the original Videos and they are much longer. What Software do you use to convert vob files into mpegs etc? maybe it's my converter that makes the Problem.
  12. Got a question on the Fighting Buggy. Does it come with a ball diff, or spool gear, just like the vintage Super Champ?
  13. Looks like you use reverse to go forward. Switch the motor cables and change reverse/forward switch or setting for TH on your transmitter.
  14. Something to work on during christmas holiday... Nib vintage Super Champ body set to complete my vintage Chassis. And another vintage Hotshot... Yes - it is a Mk1 All original Mk1 and still roof and body never used. Can't wait to start restoring.
  15. I did a restoration of one of my MK1's not so Long ago. Here you can see the resto threat: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=73032&hl= And in the mean time there are 5 Mk1's in my cabinets. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=124779&sid=108 The body shell are same in general, decals are most significant difference.
  16. Very cool! I have downloaded all 64 Videos from Google drive now. Will have to convert them and then watch them one by one :D A very big thank you!!!
  17. That's great! Thanks for that. Going to download all today evening.
  18. Does anybody have vintage Tamiya Promotion footage in good Quality? I am looking for all the vintage Videos that also can be found on YouTube. Hotshot, Hotshot II, Frog, Hornet, Grasshopper, etc... no matter what Format. VHS or already digitalised. If you have something, please let me know. Thanks
  19. In usual cases, I do not occure customs fees or import duty when ordering small shipments. But ordering through Martin (rcmodelex) is also a good option.
  20. My vitrines are not as expensive as professional shop vitrines. I bought the vitrines off a furniture store as I did not find professional vitrines for reasonable money. For me they do the job and I can add same vitrines as needed. The problem when you buy vitrines from a closed shop is, you might not find the same style of vitrines again if you need more.
