Hi there! It moves! The last two days I spent with measuring and marking and measuring again and then finally.... I used the router and slotted the openings for the moving rods...
Okay - so far so good. I did it right. The four power Units drive the rods are mounted as well and are connected to the wishbones. Tentatively with normal threaded rods. Will have to make some nice rods. Still the one or other Thing to do but... yeah - ran out of Motor shims so I could not finish off the Motor Installation. Will do the wiring underneath tomorrow and still have to figure out how to adjust the power from the battery through the swith to the power Units an the Motor to have them turn the right Speed. Will take some Pictures today evening.

Hi Folks! I am so sorry for not posting any update. This is due to lack of time. I have all Tools here waiting for the right time to go ahead with the milling work for the Slots where the rods come through the base to let the Suspension go up and down. This is a quite crucial stept because once I've made a mistake it will ruin the whole Project.
But I am eager to finish it soon. So you may find an update here soon.

That's right, it is me who makes the copy of the Hotshot bench model. Unfortunately due to lack of time I have only slow Progress. However, once I prepped the wooden Display cabinet, I can Mount the model and only have to make the elektroniks underneath. I will sure present further Progress soon.

I am thinking of selling the red Funco Bel-Ray buggy that I have build some years ago.
The body is a heavily modified Rough Rider/Buggy Champ body to match the shape of the genuine Funco Bel Ray-Buggy. Perfectly done with polystyrol. Bright red/white paint job with smooth and shiny finish. The chassis is built from new parts. New wheels and tires. Wheels have outer aluminum covers with super scale hex head screws. Super scale black RC4WD shocks with internal springs. Metal plished front skid plate and vintage Super Champ HD steering kit. The roof is also custom made of metal painted in gunmetal.

Selling my new build Buggy Champ. I build this one backe some years ago. It is 100% build of new parts. I collected all the parts my self. It has a RC-Channel rear suspension upgrade, a black anodized bottom plate and aluminum outer wheels. I paid attanten to details. Radio box is painted flat black. I used a blue metallic paint with clear coat from automotive paint shop. It has also the Tamiya ball diff installed! The inside of the body is painted black for better contrast.
It is an absolute perfectly built flawless display model.
Please make me a fair offer. The SRB stand is included.

That explains a lot Tom on all the mails I have sent that might have gone unseen in the middle of what sounds like a little chaos at best. Hope to catch up soon and get some questions answered.

Is everything going as planned on this??? I hope there is some progress shots soon on this stellar project.
Well, I got stuck in progress a little. I have been rebuilding the hobby room. Got new furniture and did not have time because I sold one of my real cars (the Toyota Land Cruiser) and bought me another real car (Dodge RAM). So I spent a lot of time with other things. But will going on soon.
What are those suspension pins on the promo car?
You mean the pins on the upper wishbone? They were used on the pre-production cars.

Today I got the RC4WD Yota axles in. Could not wait to install them and so I began with the installation immediately.
First I replaced the white nylon inserts of the front leaf hangers and shimmed with 4x 3mm washers. Also I had to trim the frame at this section accordingly.
So the leaf hangers come out 2mm each side wider and therefore the axles directly fit the leafs. Attached the axles with RC4WD u-bolt kits and fitted the body.
Wow!! The ride hight is just perfect for my taste. And nobody can say that the width of the axles and tires look goof. It sits just like a real K5. However, with a little wider steelies it would look even better. ;-)-

Could be, maybe it's more pronounced with the model body than the real one. It's been quite a few years since I had my '78 K5, all the ones I had after that were '84 and newer models.
Besides the Lexan Vaterra body is supposed to be a '86 model year
Sounds reasonable. I think there is not a single RC body that reflects 100% scale of the real car.

The later K5, I think they were upon 1981 were different. They had a differnet front, hood and front fenders. They were straight. The earlyer models were angled. I'd not take a lexane body as a reference.

I had a 79 K5. I wasn't sure either but checked many pictures yesterday and they all seem angled.

As far as I remember and check the pictures of my 1:1 K5 the angle was slightly backwards towards the bumper.

Found another used rear yota axle and made a comparion shot of the Tamiya Bruiser 2012 axles and the Yota's. You can see the yota axles are significant narrower.

Now I remember some small issue with the front axles. I had to shim the front leaf hangers towards outside. I grinded the two eyes off the white plastic spacer to bring the leaf hanger outside a little more and shimed with I think two Tamiya 3mm washers each eye outside the frame. That's what I had to do on the red Hilux. Long time ago but now I recalled. So it is really just a little modification to make them fit. I have an used front axle here, and took pictures. I believe it works w/o shiming the leaf hangers too. But I will see.
Also I made a little progress with the radio box. I cut the top section off and installed the gear shift servo.
And I made a custom set of leaf springs. I used the top leaf from the Bruiser and added support leafs as needed from several semi leafs I had opened. The semi leafs are more curved than the Bruiser leafs are and result in a light lift of roughliy 1cm additionally. I might need extra Superlift blocks from RC4WD to gain a few milimeter of extra lift though.

Basically the RC4WD Yota axles with the rear bruiserupter edition are a direct fit to the Bruiser frame. I have made a custom Hilux on a Bruiser frame with Yota/Bruiseruptor axles. They did fit right away.

As already posted, the rear bruiseruptor axle is exactly same as the front yota axle. In case of the Blazer body, the axle including wheels will not stick out of the body at all. At last this is what I measured. Once the axles are here, I know exactly. However, the stock Bruiser axles are much wider than the RC4WD Yota axles. Especially the rear stock axle is way to wide.

It just looks like. It is the outer shape of the fender that is curved to center towards frontend.

I couldn't quite trust my eyes when I saw the K5 body on RC4WD's website. I'm a big K5 fan and hav owned a '79 K5 on my own some years ago. I'm sorry I sold the car. So immediately I ordered one and on Friday I picked it up from the carrier here. Dang that thing is huge! Fantastic quality and details, super thick and strong body, perfect size for all the chassis and tires in 1.55 and 1.75 we use. Thank you RC4WD!!
So in my case the K5 will sit on a Tamiya Bruiser 2012 chassis that I have ready sitting here. The original Tamiya axles will be switched for RC4WD Yota Bruiseruptor axles. They are ordered now. Hope they show up soon.
This will approximately be the ride hight I am going to do. It equals to about 6-8 inch lift and 37 inch tires on a real K5.
This was my K5 with a 4 inch full leafs lift kit and 35x14.5 MT Baja Belted

Here are some Pictures. Nothing so spectacular because they look similar to the ones known already but this is more or less final configuration beside some minor Details still to be done though. I still have to figure out how they made the front tires aligned. In the Promotion Video only a very thin wire is visible.
