  1. hi,

personally, i wouldn,t worry about it - i mean, its not like he,s going to come to your house and cause trouble is it?. all i,d do is, make sure there,s no money in your paypal account, so paypal themselves cant take any out as a possible re-fund? - you never know, he might cause trouble that way. but otherwise, ignore his emails, and if the mini disc player works ok, forget him.

dont be intimidated by email bullying.

  2. i,ve since found the mardave website, and they reckon that they can supply parts to cars that are 20 years old - i,ll give them a ring after christmas and see what happens...

yep!, its the car with no brakes! - its very tricky to stop it to say the least [xx(].

    merry christmas!.

  3. someone definately makes them, because i bought an optima mid off ebay the other day and its definately go one fitted - a proper fitted and shaped one - not some bodged on effort. the only thing it does need, which i haven,t got, is the polycarbonate? top and bottom belt covers - bummer eh!.

    cheers,

    james.

  4. hey guess what......

i fitted a tamiya super modified 11 turn motor to my turbo optima, and then ran it on a 2400Mah 8.4v battery pack - its went like badword!! - easilly accelerated as fast as a nitro buggy - but i also managed to melt the solder on the motor wires, causing them to fall off!. i fixed that problem, only to have the mechanical speed controller catch fire.......doh!!!!!!! - good job the bodyshell is easy to get off!.

sure is fast though, but boy does it get hot!!!!!!. with the motor timing advanced right-up, its completely mental to drive!.

fun with a capital F!. all i do now is keep a fire blanket handy whenever i use it.....

still, it,ll be good to melt snow with this winter.......

  5. hey night owl, cracking picture mate [:P]. i was curious to know what that conversion looked because i bought (yet another) optima off ebay the other week, and the seller described the car as a belt driven optima. the pictures were clear enough - but not detailed - and it just looked like a standard turbo. the cars coming from somewhere deep in the USA, and hasn,t arrived yet [V]. (touch wood [xx(]) it should arrive in the next few days or so......

i might have a nice suprise coming...........

  6. hi,

i,ve only actually got one shelf queen - thats my rough rider. the only real problem i have with it, is dust. i,m seriously thinking about buying a display case for it from these people

www.theshowcasecompany.co.uk i bought a case off them ages ago to display a couple of 1/12 GP bikes, and its a really nice case.

is that going a bit "over-board" do you think?.

  7. hi,

i run my mardave marauder on 75MHz - the radio gear came from the USA. so far i haven,t had any problems with the radio gear, but to be honest, i haven,t taken it anywhere for a really good blast. so i can,t really comment on any possible interferance problems....

i happen to have a "proper" dremel, and i,ve also got a "cheapy" copy one aswell. the original is much, much better though - very tough and very powerfull - its got more "add-ons" available too!. i bought mine when they first came out (years ago), and it cost me about £80 then - compared to less than £20 for the copy.

the old saying is true - you get what you pay for.

i,ve also cut my hands many a time with it..........[:(]

is this going to turn into a power tool thread......

    cheers,

    james.

  8. hi,

i considered buying one of those myself, but i heard the HPI micro was better - so i bought the HPI instead. i have to say that the HPI micro is a fantastic car. obviously the plus point is the fact that it runs on standard radio gear, plus there are shed loads of hop-ups available - far more than the kyosho. i run my HPI on 4 1600Mah sanyo batteries (re-chargable). run times last for about an hour - well, i can strech my run times over 2 days!, and it certainly is quick. the belt driven 4WD system really is sweet. i also run a tamtech - again, reputed to be better than the kyosho - but the HPI is better than that aswell. the tamtech motor fits into the HPI, but its a slower motor than the stock HPI one.

the HPI is a tough little beast aswell, you try driving one around your living room after a few stella,s and you,ll see.......[;)]

    have fun!,

  9. hi,

if your really desperate for parts, i,ve got the remains of the G parts spru that you can have FOC. email your address and i,ll just post it to you - i,m in the UK aswell. its not a complete spru though. parts 4,5,8,9,13 & 14 are missing, but i think i know where the 2 spot lamps are. the rest of the parts that are still attached are mint. might be ok for spares?.

if you want it, then just contact me through the club. no worries if not though.

    cheers,

    james.

  10. aaaaarrrghhh!!!!!!!!!!![:0].....

be warned mate, this is not the first time those people have made a magazine like this - and it was a scam!. about this time last year, those people did the same thing. except this car wasn,t an electric car (of dubious manufactor), it was actually a glow engined kyosho (pure 10 chassis). i started to buy the mag - as did a mate at work. after 5 issues it stopped!. after a few weeks still nothing appeared in the shops, so i contacted the magazine people and asked what was happening. they said they are no longer doing it and have "pulled the plug". i was dissapointed to say the least!, but i managed to get my money back because i sold all the bits on ebay.

once bitten twice shy, i reckon. personally i,m not falling for that one again - not by that magazine anyway [:o)].

all i would suggest is, dont expect it to last the distance!.

    cheers,

    james.
