Hi there I have a couple of Super Champ chassis's that I want to convert to sand scorcher lookalikes (super scorcher I believe is the term used) using blitzer beetle bodies of course. I am looking for someone who makes the hybrid front posts that go on the super champ steering post. Old fella directed me to Cul Tech (thank you) but he appears to no longer be a subscriber. Is there anyone out there who makes these who can help me? I also notice a number of Australian sellers selling what looks like a reproduction rear body clips. Has anyone purchased one? Are they any good? I realise you need to make up the spacers for these. Thanks.

Could someone please tell me what this aluminium gear is off. I believe the number is an Australian part number.

Well first it was the nose cones, wipers and chrome lights that JR-RC had lots of now I notice he has been selling lots of the Black Blitzer bodies. As of now still 41 available and has sold almost 170 in the last 2 and a half weeks. It will be interesting to see how many more he lists? They are a good buy for a runner body o you can protect your Monster Beetle or sand Scorcher Shell.

try ebay for 50520 (Black equivalent to 50305 I believe)

Hi, not sure if this post should go here or Ebay posts. I have noticed 2 Australian sellers auctioning box art bumpers for SRB's at very low starting price (looks like the same seller). Also I noticed Thailand seller selling what appears to be exactly the same items. Has anyone bought one from any of these sellers? Looks suspicious to me - you know the old saying if it looks to good to be true it probably is. Quality looks a little off also but could just be the photo's. I totalled 20 for sale......

I have the same body(plus a few others). I was really hoping that 3mm hex spacers existed but at this stage it doesn't appear to be the case. I ended up with the super HPI rims as a result of a poor back order I did with Tower Hobbies so have to live with them.
-
I am trying to install some HPI super nitro wheels on a TGX and the offset is different - they end out wider than the body. What are the thinest 12mm hex wheel spacers you can get?

I managed to pick up a second hand thorp diff for my Monster Beetle which came with everything but the counter gear. I had a quick look at the standard Monster Beetle Counter gear which looks to have the same number of teeth on both the small gear and large gear and the overall counter gear is the same thickness in the centre. The only difference appears to be the large gear is thinner . Has anyone run the standard counter gear with a thorp differentail? I think it will work but obviously dont want to kill the thorp differential gear.

Well I wish I had read this thread back in July when I was looking for some rims for TGX cars I have. I was after some black mesh rims for a merc body so thought if I am getting one set I will get a couple more and store away (you know how it works - olrder a spare set or two and store them away for a rainy day). I had purchased from Tower many times in the passed and always got priority mail cost which are substantially less than UPS. I live in New Zealand. I got an email today confirming the back order I had placed had been shipped and noticed the shipping costs of $63US (as compared to $13 US for priority) for 12 rims which cost $34 US. I and shot them an urgent email (within 30 mins of getting their email) but alas I think I have done my cash on these - they will be the most expensive plastic rims I have ever paid for (barring NIB Gold Monster beetle wheels which are much more in demand). It is just best to ask for a notification of when the item is in stock. I agree with some of the above threads in that they do actually spell it out for you but I guess once you have ordered a few time successfully you dont expect a shock out of the blue like this. They are still a very good company to deal with.

I picked up a very poorly glued pair of these tires (directional radial tires) on a pair of Tamiya TGX rims which were obviously too small. What rims do these actually fit and what model did they come on. I have painstainly removed all the glue so they can be reused.

Sounds very interesting. Being relatively new to owning an SRB I would love to build a diff also so will be watching with interest. Great work from someone in the Southern Hemisphere(no disrespect intended to our Northern counterparts of course)

I used them about 3 years ago to get some monster beetle tires ($8.75 a pair) and touring car tires. Postage was reasonable and service was not an issue. I live in New Zealand.

Vintage On Ebay
kalsh replied to spencem875's topic in Off-Site sales plugs, tips & gossip - Including eBay, Gumtree etc.
and low and behold all of the metal component chassis's/gear box models have been withdrawn - must have got a very good offer from one buyer or had second thoughts. I wouldn't blame him either way as it must have been a very hard decision to let them go -
try http://www.tamiya-asia.com/shop/index.php part no 50641 I have purchased from them before and was happy with service overall - took a little longer than expected to turn up

I picked these up on a trade and dont know what they all are and whether they can be used on any Tamiya rims. The first set are Team Losi 2.20 x 2.00 made in USA. What Tamiya rim would these fit on if any? The rest are all un named but I think might be Schumacher. The rims I have never seen before either - strange internal fitting - very small. I put the old metal ruler in so you can get an idea of the size. Most of the tires look new or hardy used. I dont think any will fit Tamiya rims. Can anyone shed any light on these?
-
I was going to throw these out as I was having a very small clean out as they were on a SPICA Road Runner which was pretty much stuffed so as I was taking all screws and anything else that I thought useful, then I noiticed the sizing on the rear tires and thought, hey that looks the same as the Sand Scorcher so I took the circlip off the rear axle (yes pretty basic) and low and behold the rims were stitting on a pinned shaft exactly like Tamiya so I thought I can even use the rims (which I dont like that much) then I took the tire off the rim and they are the same design as the sand scorcher so I had a spare set of very second hand rims around and transferred a couple of tires over too the 3 piece rims. The rears are slightly narrower but slightly taller and the fronts are wider but not as tall. I will probably use them on a runner or sit them on a super champ I am converting to a beetle. The standard size sand scorcher/super champ tires are on the left for reference. Has anyone else come across these tires before?

I have seen this saying on a number plate surround also. I can relate to it given my dad had a 1500+ matchbox collection. Its all about personal choice and as others have stated "because you can". Thankfully we are all different or it would be a very boring existance.

Srb/sand Scorcher Shocks Plus Front End Dismantling
kalsh replied to kalsh's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
yep - front axles - I was thinking of my real life sized ragtop beetle front end terminology. -
Hi there. I am relatively new to the SRB chassis after recently picking up an all but complete second hand Sand Scorcher. I thought to myself I wouldnt mind having a second one I could run and let get knocked about a little. I have a passion for VWs also. So off I went and purchased a Super Champ chassis. I want to put replacement shocks on it and realize this subject has been covered off before some time ago therefore I am seeking guidance on what reasonably priced and readably available shocks are on the market now with coil over springs which would do the trick. I see some Ebay sellers selling coil over shocks which say they will fit the SRB chassis. Has anyone out there purchased any of these? Do they work? Can anyone suggest something that works? To the front end one torsion bar is slightly bent I reckon I can straighten it in the vice providing I use aluminum covers on the jaws. The grub screws look very small and I am scared I will strip some of them therefore I was thinking heat would be the answer via say soaking the front end in very hot water. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to strip the front end down safely? I have polymorph to rebuild the ballraces. As an aside my new VW Golf GTI Cup Racer arrived today from JR-RC- it looks like a very nice body with the chrome light buckets for the LEDS. It will go very nicely with the other NIB VW kits I have namely, Re Released Beetle (M04), New Beetle (FF01), Golf V5 (FF01), Golf VR6 FF01, Original beetle well actually a mini which the chassis is built but an original body set purchased before re-released model came out, and Monster Beetle (not a NIB but all new parts acquired over time to build one day maybe??) All suggestions/advice will be greatly appreciated. P.S. yes I know Beetlelover is also in NZ and we have traded a few times and email each other from time to time (different ends of the North Island) and is good to know there are others from this neck of the woods involved here. Regards Kelvin

Thank God for that opt out button as the new search engine was annoying me big time also.....thanks

I purchased some TGX bodies (well 3 TGX bodies and one TGR) from Tamiya Asia which have turned up in very good condition and postage was very reasonable. Most other reasonably priced bodies are in the UK and postage to New Zealand is a real killer. I am one happy punter. 1 x Tamiya (#50713) - Tamiya 1/8 Calsonic Skyline GT-R Body Parts Set 1 x Tamiya (#50895) - Tamiya 1/8 CLK DTM 2000 Warsteiner Body 1 x Tamiya (#50562) - Tamiya 1/8 Opel Calibra V6 DTM Body Parts 1 x Tamiya (#50561) - Tamiya 1/8 Alfa Romeo G155 V6 T1 Body Parts Set
