I am looking for some new bevel gears for a couple of Monster beetle projects I am completing. I am pretty sure the rereleased Frog bevel gears are the same but I am having great difficulty in securing them on their own. I have tried Tower Hobbies to to no avail. Does anyone have any other suggested internet sellers who possibly could assist. I know there are some original ones on Ebay at $16US for a pair which I am reluctant to pay thta price at this stage. I am in New Zealand.

Jason seems to be simply putting them up 10 at a time as I looked at the ended auctions (250014765436, 250015141410, 250015431310, 250016013051) and came up with 3 seperate auctions he had already run and noticed a few regular names from this great site. I also noticed one guy in the third auction purchased 8 of the body sets which seems a little greedy but each to their own of course. I was tempted to purchase 2 bodies when I noticed he had listed another 10 bodies which 6 had already been purchased and now are all gone again (I got one) and I guess that is also why everybody has had the 50548 and 50549 wheels available for the last couple of months at good prices of around $6US for the front rims and I think $8US for the rear rims so will look real good when all put together.

I see on Ebay you can purchase new ones for about $65 US (9 sets last tiem I looked)

I am trying to find out where to purchase foam tires for a TGX or some info on what other brands would work? Can anyone help me?

I agree that Artie is a great seller overall but the decals were a major dissappointmnet. I have traded with him a number of times and had no problems with anything else. Sorry I should have put this with my first comments.

If someone wants to pay me £200.00 in advance, I will produce 10 decal sheets of just about any model they like. You are then free to use as many of them as they want and sell the surplus. I'm afraid this is the only way I'd produce decals for some of the models suggested, as at the moment it me taking all the risk, of having them produced and then getting stuck with them. This way someone else gets to take the risk, although if you are so confident they are in demand you'll have no worries at all BTW this topic is open again cheers Chris

I got stung also by Ottaviano1 and unfortunately purchased more than one set. If memory serves correct Chris has offered to have a go at making some Monster Beetle decals but needs some firm orders up front. I am sure if he could do them for around $10 pound we would have a long queue of people wanting them. I would order 2 sets immediately at that price. The originals are very expensive at around $65US these days. I was reasonably lucky to pick up a body set which only had the P parts and hardware bag missing for $60US and had the missing parts NIB so sold a set of decals I already had.

Thanks for the replys - I opened up a set I have and it clearly shows that the narrow rims are either +2mm or +4mm offset and the wide rims are +2mm or +10mm.

[au]I just picked up a pair of new grey mesh wheels which have stamped on the inside 58193/0996284. They look like they are 50742 which are the wide rear wheels for the porsche 911 GT1 however they came out in gold colour. What are the grey ones from or was there a colour change somewhere along the way? Thanks

I have some 50672 5 spoke 26mm two piece rims and was wanting to know if the inserts from the 50673 wide rims and mesh rims 50549 and 50548 could also be used on the rims and vica versa. i.e. are the chrome rims the same apart form the width and can all inserts be interchanged? Are the 50548 rims narrower than the 50672 rims as the info I have is that the 50549 are 22.4mm whilst the 50672 are 26mm or are these measurements being taken from different places on the rim? The same question applies to the 50549 28mm and the 50673 rim 31mm but I note these both take the tire 50547(5547)? thanks

It is a long time since I ran an electric RC car but I still have my old chargers which were for the old 1200 nicads. I have some newer batteries which range from 1400 to 1800 now. My question is for charging directly from a 12 volt car battery do I simply increase the time from the original 15mins for the old 1200 nicad to 22 mins for an 1800 nicad or do I still only charge them for 15mins? The old quick charger I had for the mains power was a 30min charger for the old 1200 nicad, again do I simply increase the time to say 45 minutes for an 1800nicad??? I am sure there are many out there who understand electris and can advise me accordingly. I probably will invest in a new state of the art charger which will simply charge them and go to trickle when charged but in the meantime I want to use the gear I have.

wheel offsets - 190mm chassis with 200mm body
kalsh replied to kalsh's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Thanks to everyones advice which has clarified the position for me nicely. -
I have a couple of FF01 and TA02 chassis's and was looking to mount a 200mm HPI beetle body on them. Naturally the original wheels on the chassis will sit well inside the 200mm body. I think both the FF01 and TA02 have +2mm offset rims. Can anyone out there advise what rims I should be looking to use to get a better look i.e. +6mm rims or -2mm rims. (I think it is the earlier but before I look at purchasing rims I need some advice). I am also aware you can use wheel spacers which could pick up say1.0mm to 1.5mm on each side.

Can anyone help me out/point me in the right direction to locate some replacement front arms (50607) in either plastic or aluminium. Do the later model TG10 front arms fit or any other models front arms fit???

Can anyone direct me to a reseller or member who has the short chassis (50561) parts for these models?

Does anyone know how to clean the oil stains off the outside of the monster beetle yellow shocks and/or recommend a product/process that works? Additionally does anyone know how to source the bottom shock mount which came on the X tree as part 8? (either new or good second hand ones?)

yellow shocks such as blackfoot, beetle..etc..
kalsh replied to jocktheglide's topic in General discussions
I think these are the correct ones but unfortunately dont come with any of the internals or the bottom mount. You can still purchase the damper bags for $10 uS on ebay which does 4 shocks. If anyone knows where/how to source the bottom mounts I would be very interested. http://www.modelbuild.co.uk/desription/0225035.html -
Does anyone know if a king blackfoot window will fit the Super Blackfoot body? Does anyone have a super blackfoot window they want to part with if the king blackfoot wont fit?

Can anyone suggest how to fit rear hornet rims to a falcon? I have the wheel adaptors but the rear shalf is simply too short. Was there any other models which had the same large dogbone setup as the falcon? You probably are asking why would I want to do this? I have a couple of falcons (bobies in real bad shape) so I want to put beetle bodies on and the hornet rims look like a real baja bug with them on.

Repro decals - which are the hardest to find?
kalsh replied to nogutsnoglory's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Monster Beetle decals are very hard to locate and becoming very expensive when they come up for auction - last two sets sold for $70US plus each. Please somebody out there produce some quality repros!!!
