  1. Perhaps the designers were inspired by this?
  2. To follow on from Willy's hint, part no. 84303 might be of interest to you
  3. #84300 Avante High Capacity Damper - Front #84301 Avante High Capacity Damper - Rear #84300 appears to be a modernised version of #53036, and I assume #84301 is a re-re of #53037. Could this eventually lead to a re-re of the Egress?
  4. Oh, I'm in love... I was thinking of looking for a Kyosho Beetle, but this has far more class. Personally, I tend to stick with Tamiya and Kyosho, as they are the brands I have grown up with. The Marui Samurai looks great too, but I have no experience running any Marui. On the tangential discussion re: V8 supercars, I see Nissan will be back next year, albeit with a sihouette racer. It'll be interesting to see how the Holden/Ford fans respond. I guess most/all of the Holden fans have forgotten that Nissan straight sixes used to power the VL commode?
  5. Yep, the dampers look like the FAV's, altho with a red insert on the front shocks and maybe different springs. "Major Pro"?
  6. The Wild One is listed on the Japanese site: Tamiya New Items Spring 2012 RRP JPY 19,740, which is roughly 25% more than the FAV re-re. Xmas in July!
  7. The strong AUD has definitely helped you here. I still remember the painful days when the AUD only bought ~US 60 cents... Drawing a parallel, there's plenty more mania surrounding the release of each new Apple ubergizmo. Isn't it great that Tamiya makes things that people want to buy? It is up to people to decide how to spend their money, and we should not think lesser of them spending 75% or less on a re-re which is 95% the same as the original, especially in these uncertain times. Toys are meant to be enjoyed, and given the choice of a AU$417 Supershot or a US$245 Super Hotshot, I would probably enjoy the Super Hotshot more as the Supershot would likely remain in the box.
  8. Thanks for the tip! Looks like the TTG damper pistons might work better too.
  9. I don't have any issue with the rear dampers, but then I started off with some heavier VG damper oil than what was included in the upgrade kit, to better match with the firm springs. However, I find the front dampers are way too heavily sprung and damped, despite putting in the lightest oil I had available. Moreover, I find my steering throw is limited as the steering links will foul the dampers. Maybe some TamTech-Gear aeration dampers might be better on the front?
  10. Yup, and the hybrid spike tyres too ハイブリッドスパイクタイヤ (F/R) 【限定商品】 発売日:3月17日(土)ごろ 価格(税込み):1,365円 ジャンル:RC ITEM No:84281
  11. The Japanese Tamiya site has been updated with the official release date - March 17
  12. A: When you have to keep count using a spreadsheet...
  13. rc-mini.net gave the Gambado/Grid a glowing review, and I'm thinking of getting one myself later this year. I'm a bit puzzled why Route246 (which seems to be affiliated with Kyosho) is selling a version of the Gambado. Can anyone tell me what the differences are between the Route246 version and ABC's original?
  14. Pics available here: http://www.hobby-show.info/tokyo2011/
  15. I reckon the R8 LMS looks ace. Please pardon the iPhone pics!
  16. I had a good look at the new CRX today. The headlight decals look quite difficult to line up accurately. Although there are no mirrors, Tamiya bothered to mould some light cups for the headlamps, but there does not appear to be a way to install LEDs without modification. Overall, I don't think it's one of the best looking bodies around, but as an old-school Honda fan I'm still likely to get one.
  17. I'm looking forward to the Montero/Pajero, but the Blitzer Beetle is great news too. The description says that it uses the "same chassis components as Item 58347 Lunch Box", so I assume it'll be a big wheeled Paj? Hope the original decals are reproduced.
  18. Agree wholeheartedly with this. I think the white Vanquish versions look even better, but I'm looking forward to getting a few sets of the Egress wheels.
  19. What's with all the pessimism? I'm looking forward to the ample supply of suspension arms and lightweight teardrop wheels, which is one of my fav wheel designs. Plus plenty of new bodies to restore old runners. Top Force Evo next please!
  20. I for one would be really pleased if the Saint Dragon is re-released - I'd get two bodies and do one up in the red "Ricky's Special" colour scheme and the other in blue, with matching Mini 4WDs.
  21. Hmm, something even more expensive than the Avante (which has already significantly dented my bank balance)? My guess is Egress, although I'd love a TF Evo even more.
  22. I bought an optional wing from Hobby Place on Lonsdale St in Melb about 2006. From memory it cost AU$15 and they had a couple left in the cabinet, although I haven't spotted them again more recently.
  23. I'm just reviving this thread since with the Avante re-re a lot of the posters above will get what they wished for. I myself would love to build a new Big Wig, so I'm hoping they would re-re that.
  24. These parts were being sold at the Tokyo Hobby Show last month. Attached is a pic I took: I wasn't impressed with the finish however - the chrome plating isn't particularly even, especially in the section above the battery. Tamiya USA has also listed the parts: http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=84172
  25. Ooh, I'm really hoping I can make a visit to this show. I'm curious about the "tentative" 2WD too - maybe be a sport (ie. more basic) version of the TRF201? I was intending to get an ABC 'Goose' mini chassis, but now I'm torn between that or waiting for the M06.
