  1. You'd have thought that they could have used Tamtech VW-style front suspension on this, would look far better than how it is!
  2. Im running twin 540's, not 20t motors. Will be checking everything out this week, how should i wire the motors to get the best out of the truck? Don't say series or parallel as that talk doesnt register with me!! It needs explaining to me :-)
  3. Well i plugged the battery in to see what the MSC was like. Booom! A very electrical spark sound and then a massive puff of smoke! So out came the MSC and in went a 15 turn Mtroniks ESC. I wired the motors together to plug into the single connectors on the esc wires, and like has been said, the front wheels were getting most of the power, the truck would spin the front wheels only on the tiled floor.
  4. I Have a Clod and a Bullhead, and i want to upgrade from the standard msc without spending too much. I have a few Mtroniks waterproof esc's lying about, would i be able to hook 2 motors up to an esc without it frying? I wouldn't be running daft motors, probably 20t silver cans at most, and make up a Y-lead to hook them together to fit them onto the standard single connectors on the esc leads? Thanks, Joe
  5. Mine was broken too, i just made one from scrap metal. Took 10 minutes. No worries since
  6. Love it. So nice to see someone do a PROPER replica, instead of a vague look-alike. Id love to see that Transmitter sat on a beach with someone controlling it, and the Scorcher in the background flying around! What are the plans for the car now its all finished and after its been displayed at various shows? Great job guys!
  7. LOVE IT!!!!!! I cant wait to see this finished with the painted tires. Hmmm, think i might be going to the Volksworld show afterall! Great work guys.
  8. Paddle tires are readily available for 2.2 wheels, and also for the emaxx/savage trucks. These act as scoops and fling the snow out of the way, i cant see them getting clogged up either as there are no grooves or treads for the snow to get packed between. Have fun!
  9. Im definitely up for it, im guessing the usual idiots (moosey, wild wily, zakspeed etc) will be too. Can i make a suggestion and maybe keep it vintage-only? I dont mind the modern stuff but the last thing we need is someone turning up with a brushless buggy and flying around trying to avoid the other cars! A central location seems the favourite, i guess anywhere on the east coast between Scarborough and Cleethorpes would be ideal.
  10. Thats just a washer isnt it? On the screw that holds the solid rear lights on to the arch. If you look, its in line with the hole and peg that keep the rear lights straight.
  11. Its painted and decal'd, just need a chassis! Ive been out of work for 4 months and just getting my bank account back on its feet, so the r/c projects have took a back seat! Im planning to have a Baja Bug built for March next year because, on the 19th of March, its 5 years since i launched the whole race baja craze with the red/white baja. I know that sounds big-headed but it did all kick off after that car was posted on TC. 5 years anniversary! How time flies..
  12. You'd think, for a display model, they'd get a professional to paint it. Look at the masking round the front arches! Im disappointed that its just a blitzer body with a new nose. The effort they put into making new mirrors, they could have made them look the same as the originals. Poor effort, Tamiya. Poor.
  13. I might buy one, not sure. I have enough parts to build a nearly complete chassis in original form, so might just buy re-re parts to complete it. The body will get cut up and modded, but still a shame they didnt re-model the arches. Even if they just trimmed them into a different style and made the 2010 SS into a more modern looking baja racer, it would have been nicer than the re-re looking like a poor replica SS built with a blitzer shell!
  14. If you buy one for beach use, drive it as if you're driving a real car. If you throw a real car into a corner at high speed, its gona lose grip. You'll get used to the handling after a few runs, and appreciate that driving one of these 'old' cars is much more pleasing than a brand new plastic 'thing' with no character. Have fun!
  15. Thanks, will look into it. Im looking to cast in resin really, its not going to be structural or anything, just decoration. The lighter the better though.
  16. Search ebay.com for 'autographics decals', theres an ebay shop on there which sells hundreds of decal sheets, usually stock car sponsor decal sheets and the plain numbers in diffeent styles.
  17. Im looking to make copies of the vw wheel centre as shown in the pic. Ive no experience in anything like this, has anyone any tips on the best way to do it? And what materials to use? Thanks for any input.
  18. What are all these clowns moaning about? Cant believe they are getting upset because a car they love is getting re-re'd. An original is an original, nothing will ever change that. Im glad its getting re-released, will hopefully put the idiots on Ebay who break good cars for profit out of business. Plus it will give people the chance to re-live their youth without worrying how much its going to cost them if they crash. For the restorers, parts will be cheaper and more readily available. As much as i love the cars...they are just toys afterall. And ive no sympathy for anyone who has paid over the odds for parts in the past few years, it has only helped to drive prices up.
  19. Very true....im a donkey sometimes :-D Its weird seeing this being re-released, almost waiting for someone to admit its a hoax.
  20. Is it my eyes..or do the tires look smooth on the sidewall?? Maybe they havnt got permission from Sand Blaster tires, and released them without any lettering? Look at the pic of the car, the walls look smooth :-( Maybe time to buy the originals that are now flooding ebay?!!!
  21. Just been looking at the first pic....your body is twisted. Look at the top of the rear window in relation to the top line of the windscreen, they are not even. The rear of the roof is broken too round the body clip screws, i guess that will affect how the body sits.
  22. Cheers for that matey, that confirms my suspicions that im **** with technical jobs..! Will look into it a bit more. Thanks
  23. Now then all :-) Im looking at building something 'special', and need to know if the parts combo is going to work out gearing-wise. The parts are all from rc4wd. The gearbox im looking at is a motor-sized compact unit with a ratio of 25 : 1. The transfer case has a ratio of 2.18 : 1, and the axles have a ratio of 2.53 : 1 The chassis is made of steel but i doubt the whole car will end up weighing more than a Hi-Lift. Has anyone any idea whether these ratios will add up to decent performance? The wheels are 1.9's with the Pajero tires. Im not after a fast car or anything, just something with a good balance of acceleration and top end. Cheers in advance :-)
