  1. Kyosho Slingshot. Some good pictures here: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=26539&id=470 Alex
  2. I sent a lot of my old silver cans to a mate for possible racing 540 vintage... for what he paid, I think he paid for postage more than the motors! If I had a boat, I'd put a bunch of them together and make an anchor out of them.... Even the cars I build up for kids of friends have at least a Sport Tuned in them, or a 27T stock motor (bushes and all!). Like markbt73, I have boxes of old mod motors too.... but mine aren't worth displaying, so in the boxes they stay! If I sell a car (eBay/forums/friends), I try to not have a silver can in it.... they just look so sad.... Alex
  3. Here's some pics of my old 1:1, a Toyota AE86 Levin / Sprinter: And the 1:10 version I built: Sadly, both gone to greener pastures..... Alex
  4. Been watching this one with interest.... as I'm currently working on a similar project, part TL01B and part HBX / clone. To be paired with a Parma Peugeot 306 body for some rally action... http://www.tcphotos.com/getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img154_07102014014016_1.jpg (I'd post an image rather than a link, but it's not allowing me to again....) Alex
  5. While I know there are still bargains to be had (checking my showroom additions this week will confirm that), I do agree that eBay has dried up as a source for me, especially from overseas, and the reason is simple: POSTAGE. When I first started collecting EVERY trashed Cougar-type chassis I could find back a decade ago, you could get all sorts of stuff from all over the world, and it was cheap because a) nobody was looking for it, and postage was cheap enough to not spoil the price. Fast forward to now, and postage costs have put a huge dent in both my buying and selling. That's on top of eBay fees and PayPal fees when selling, and 'handling' fees when buying. Makes it very hard to pick up the same bargains internationally (I'm in Australia), and almost impossible to sell internationally. Just means I have to make do with a lot of my carp, rather than buy new carp!!!! Just my tuppence....... Alex
  6. As I posted in the other thread just a minute ago, the entire site is still available, sort of...... "OK, due to underwhelming demand, we've made a site copy available to all on our Google Drive. It will take maybe 15-20 mins to d/load the zip file. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByGYcEzwpR0gTEZqSzYzVzJLWnc/edit?usp=sharing " Go get it!!! Alex
  7. From the guys running the site Back at the start of April: "And it's the end of an era... Guys you have one month to d/load the veritable treasure trove of knowledge off rc-mini.net. As after that (or nearabouts) the site will cease to be. Realistically we've pretty much covered everything that we ever wanted to do and none of us really have any time to take it any further. So, right mouse click and 'save as' on anything you want, because soon it'll be all gone.... Tony G rc-mini Imperial Grand Poobah." The next day: "Thanks to all for the kind words, but it's time to move on! rc-mini will still exist in Facebook form, and if we feel inclined there will still be stupidity every now and then. Tim and I started this in Sept 2006 so it's been going quite a while now, and I think even we underestimated the impact that it's had. But....we havent really done anything new for about 2 years, there just isnt much going on. And to be honest we dont even race as much any more. If people want to 'borrow' what we've done and use it elsewhere, thats ok with us. As for someone else hosting the entire site, we'll pass. We either do it full on, or we're out. rc-mini will live on, but just in a lesser way. p.s. Minis still rule. TG" Then finally, 28th May: "We just dont have the time and/or energy to devote to the site any more. Plus, it was running on a VERY old operating system and would have required a complete redo to keep going, once more, time we dont have..." And straight after: "OK, due to underwhelming demand, we've made a site copy available to all on our Google Drive. It will take maybe 15-20 mins to d/load the zip file. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByGYcEzwpR0gTEZqSzYzVzJLWnc/edit?usp=sharing " Hope that helps! The RCMini guys are still around, just won't be working on the website any more. For info, the m-chassis.com website (for all your Mini parts purchases) will be going the same way, once they clear out all remaining stock. Alex
  8. Not sure we should all be Googling Willy Rash............... lol....
  9. Bingo!!!!! Dual breast-man for the win!!!! Great work bud!!! Alex
  10. Is it some sort of gear reduction unit? Someone on here will know..... Alex
  11. Say hi to Ju for me, tell him pig says g'day from Australia......
  12. You're probably not too far off the truth. F1 has been, for decades, the bleeding edge of automotive technology. If that means that F1 goes half or even full electric in the near future, then that will be exactly according to what the future is for the majority of cars. Of course, there will always be a place in the world for Pintos, V8s, overhead valves and crossflow heads (and dragging knuckles!).... but the world will move on. The cars do sound different... but I'm prepared to see where the season goes, rather than judge it on a race on a very clinical (read: boring) track. As for the 'treehuggers'.... I don't see how they could have any effect on Bernie unless he was getting well 'lubricated' by them. Alex
  13. First one is definitely not a 405 or RS200.... although I can't quite ID it properly. Third one is an Alpha EP rally car. These came in brown, blue, and black, brown being the first generation. Slightly similar chassis for both EP and GP was available. Not too bad a chassis, as long as you added full bearings and replaced the shocks (which were friction, and the top of the shock had no actual physical connection with the bottom!). With shocks and bearings, these made a fine rally basher. Hope that helps mate! Alex
  14. If you're not using the battery compartment, then have at it in there.... you should be able to hack enough from both sides to get your 10mm, it's relatively the same size both sides (not tapered like the rear), and as an added bonus, you can utilise the holes already existing for the battery holder standoffs to bolt in some strengthening pieces... So, I'd say.... GO FOR IT!!!! Besides, M03 A parts are cheap and readily available.... Alex
  15. I'll have a play at this..... 1. Schumacher Nitro 4x4 manual 2. Caster Fusion EX1 buggy body new uncut. 3. Cheap enough new Kyosho Rav4 body set. Could be a while at this list....... Alex
  16. I have a Team ABR Skoda Fabia WRC body to mount to my 03 swb... http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=107501&sid=154... have had it for almost three years now, better get it finished! Alex
  17. The problem is it's too neat, clean, tidy, organised..... at least, compared to my work table!!! Alex
  18. You know, I do know a guy with one of these..... and I'm sure he'd be happy to supply it to you http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=122062&sid=154 - If you're up for the challenge, that is! Alex
  19. Mine's over 60 miles away..... so no excuses..... Alex
  20. Good to have you back Jerry..... In your honour, I was just looking up the price of Rhodium over the past few years..... wow, what a rollercoaster!!!! Look forward to seeing what you're currently working on...... Alex
  21. Matey, Are you saying that these are still sought after, or just that they were at some stage? I have one and a half sets of these wheels (two pairs of front wheels) in my long-term pile, and was thinking of eBaying them (along with 15 pairs of Dyna Blaster front wheels, go figure), but didn't think there was anyone interested.... and I have enough eBay auctions like that already!!!! Alex
  22. You considering buying some Kyoshos, Willy??? Alex
  23. You are an odd fella though, Willy..... wait..... do I mean you or me? Alex
  24. You have a strange user name for someone who so constantly bashes the Big T product..... maybe the '1/10' is referring to a ratio, rather than a scale..... Have you thought that maybe other brands don't produce the base shell up to the standard of Tamiya, so they need to add extra details to improve the whole 'model' appearance? Bit of a waste, to add wipers to a featureless blob.... in my opinion, anyway. Besides this, Tamiya are adding detail items like light buckets to more and more of their items...... which I know I appreciate. Alex
  25. That man Twinset.... as always, expert on the huge load...... thanks for sharing, matey! Alex
