Hi guys! Hope you can help me in my plight to sort out this tt01 nightmare![8)]
i have been running my Street Devil[}] at work for a few years now and its attracted quite a few fans! Needless to say I now have some
stiff competition in the form of 5 rally mad Tl-01 lorry drivers!
(BTW I work in a warehouse order picking[V]!) anyway! Last monday in a smoke
break me and a few other order pickers (and the chill supervisor[:0])
decided that it was time to take the crown back off these lorry drivers and give the a run for there money! But as we did not want it to be a free forall we decided that we would have to make up some rules.(as well as useing some of the lorry drivers rules that are allready in place)
1ST rule (lorry drivers) Cars must be supported by the LHS.
2ND rule (ours) Cars must be the same make/type.
3RD rule (ours + lorry drivers input) Cars MUST be 4WD (Bang goes my idea of useing my mo3 mini![])
4TH rule (ours) Shells must be A rally car.
5TH rule (ours) Tyres MUST be the same (but here is were the problem lies! The lorry drivers wont tell us what rubber they use![!])
6TH rule (lorry drivers) Hop ups limited to:
shocks/springs,wheels,servo savers,Propshafts,bearings,heatsinks.(no bling allowed![:I])
7TH rule (Lorry drivers) Motors must be stock & brccc legal
8TH rule (ours + lorry drivers input) ESC must be A LRP Runner (or equivalent)
9TH rule (ours) Batt packs must be GP 3300Mah NiMh Race packs (as there cheap[8)])
10TH rule (ours) servos must be Futaba s3003 (or Acoms/Hitec equivalent)
11TH rule (ours) transmitters/Receivers must be 2 channel & 4oMHZ But Any make will do (the lorry drivers use 27MHZ)
So! Wednesday rolls around, armed with credit cards and wads of cash we jumped in my car and shot off to the LHS on our dinner break. I was expecting us to end up with TL-01'S or some sort of Kyosho e.p readyset as these cars tend to be the ones the LHS sell (and stock parts for) the most.
But to my surprize the only kits they had were TT-01s! (they also had a few re releases and I just had to grab a Lunch Box to go with my Midnight Pumpkin[])
After A long chat with the LHS owner (Cheers Steve you Diamond you!)
we managed to get the kits and hop ups at a good price!
We ended up with quite a bit of gear and I could just about fit it all in my old pug!
All In all we ended up with:
Me: (58308) Ford Focus RS WRC03 kit,Ali prop shaft, metal motor mount
Mini CVAs and BallRaces (also the Lunch Box as I already had a motor Bats ESC & radio gear)
Dan the strawberry man![]:(58332) Citreon Xsara WRC2004 kit Ali prop shaft, metal motor mount, carson oil shocks,BallRaces,Acoms radio gear motor, bat,ESC ETC ETC.
Jeff the Chill supervisor[] (58333) Subaru Impreza WRC 2004 kit
same as the rest of us but without the ali propshaft.
Mark:(58335) Escort Cosworth WRC Same as Jeff but with Futaba Gear.
Right! now here is the problem. as I am on days this week (they are on nights) so I have been put in charge of building the kits.(But not painting them[] apart from mine![]!) so this Saturday gone at 9.00am I started on my Focus. I finished the chassis at 12.30pm. After I had lunch I thought I would just give the focus a once over to make sure everyting was screwed in tight and the chassis was rolling free. But to my horror I found that the spur gear was VERY tight I could hardly move it[:0]! No matter I thought I will sort it out later. so i started on the other cars BUT I have found them ALL to have the same spur gear stiffness[] and for the life of me I cannot figure it out! And today (Sunday) I have been over and over and over the cars and i just cant seem to sort it! My Gravel Hound never had this stiffness problem so I wonder what it is? I have never had this sort of problems building Tamiya models before but this really takes the biscuit! hope you gurus on here can come up with some solutions as Im well Stumped!
Thanks Tankman!
