  1. It's not that complex, just mini gearboxes where the knuckles should be - I'm not sure of the mechanical advantages of portals over a chassis mounted gearbox reduction, but on most RCs they do at least increase the ride height (by about 1/2 the inner diameter of the wheel) On the Traxxas though, the ride height advantage was offset by the portals taking up space between the wheels, so what the diff housing missed the portals might hit - that was more to do with how deep the portals went into the wheels than the existence of the portal; Portals on GMade's R1 When you compare how 'crowded' the area is between the inner walls of the tyres compared to the Axial SCX-10 you see the issue clearer; If the G6-01TR has swing arms and portals, there should be loads of belly clearance but at the expense of a slightly higher centre of gravity although if the portals make the track wider then it might not have much effect...
  2. Depends entirely on the design of the portal - All it needs to be is one small gear turning one larger gear, so it's down to the width of the gears etc. They might make shorter arms if the truck's width is an issue, if not then they can just add a new set of knuckles (with gears in) There's no need for the portals to be particularly wide. RC4WD used to make some for Clods and they kept the stock width
  3. As they're on a variant of the G6-01, it's a fairly safe bet that they did - Otherwise it'd have a new chassis designation

  5. Jeez that's horrible The moulded in rock sliders remind me of the exhausts on HPI Savage shells Nasty 😝
  6. I've never heard of 'em - They've not posted on their own FB page for over a year; https://www.facebook.com/thirteenracing.co.uk/
  7. Should be ok now, but you might have to clear your cache to see it Thanks for posting up 🙂
  8. Reminds me of the super-deformed and egg models - hopefully they'll do a whole range of them
  9. It looks like the 3rd channel will only do 2 positions (Channel 3 servo to left or right = no centre) I have a Carson setup which does have a 3 position 3rd channel, so it's not that unusual any more. The 4th servo is intended to be mixed with the steering by the looks of it, so you can have 4 wheel steering on a crawler - CH4 is mixed with CH1 and both are then controlled by steering wheel - CH4 moves at same time as CH1, not controlled separately 3rd channel on a nitro is prob for 2spd gearbox
  10. Topic locked - Please check your PM
  11. No worries No idea what the problem was, I don't ask as I rarely understand the reply - IT's not my thing
  12. Should be ok now
  13. I've let Chris know, will update once it's sorted
  14. I've not gone into the menu too far, but that'd make sense - there was a bit of a delay on things like the horn Two of the three MFC work fine, so it must just be down to the age of the troublesome one.
  15. It's only a specific combination in one rig that's the problem - everything works as it should except in that one truck - that truck has to use Spectrum RX/TX to work whereas the other two can use Spectrum TX with an orange RX (I have three orange RX and they all work fine) For some reason one particular MFC doesn't work with one particular RX/TX combo but the other two will
  16. No idea but the only dead cert thing about the problem one is its age - it was bought a good ten years ago and the wires that go to the receiver aren't the traditional white/red/black
  17. Update: Tried a genuine Spektrum RX and it works fine I got three trucks here; 1: Globeliner: Orange RX, DX6, MFC-01 with white/black/red wires = OK 2: Grand Hauler: Orange RX, DX6, MFC-01 with white/black/red wires = OK 3a: Knight Hauler: Orange RX, DX6, MFC-01 with cream/black/red wires = No Go 3b: Knight Hauler: Spektrum RX, DX6, MFC-01 with cream/black/red wires = OK Why should swapping brands of RX work? - Would older MFC (cream/red/black wires) have a problem with Orange RX? I tried 3 Orange RX so it's not that it was one that didn't work, none of them did.
  18. Trying to get an MFC-01 to work with Spek DX6 Using same setup as two other working trucks, I built them all the same On this one though, the unit doesn't register any throttle input but the servos all move as they should (steering and gear select ok) Despite the steering working, the blinkers don't - no sound, no light Horn works intermittently - sometimes it sounds, other times not. Combo for shutdown doesn't work, rev doesn't work Any ideas? tried 3 receivers and tried all receivers in another truck, so it's not the TX/RX, definitely the MFC-01 somewhere. Gone thru reset process then re-teaching it the sticks etc. and steering/gears work every time but throttle hit and miss
  19. The re-re won't have a mechanical speed control, not sure about the power/economy switch Other than that, I can't think of any differences - the original already had the steel plates for the suspension links to attach thru, which was an upgrade over the original Clod setup
  20. Not my words, copy/paste from Big Squid
  21. Years ago there were some similar products from Delta, and they had varying results on vintage hard bodies - Chris melted a Rough Rider body and the company suggested it might be due to high polystyrene content in the plastic. I melted the sunroof from a Ford Ranger too, but not the main shell - The sunroof remained 'sludgy' after that, almost like it'd been smeared with chewing gum - even after a lot of cleaning, the plastic never hardened off again.
  22. This works good too; https://airbrushes.com/product_info.php?products_id=572 I've found it the best cleaner for the airbrush body
  23. From BigSquid: Here ya go Tamiya collectors, coming soon is a Supreme edition of the legendary Hornet buggy. You see, Supreme is a esoteric urban design house based out of the NYC that is known for doing high-end collaborations with other companies (Nike, Fox Racing, etc). With the weight of the Supreme name, this Hornet just might become one of the most collectible of all time. And while we do not have street pricing for the Supreme Hornet, Supreme branded collaborations have been known to be incredibly pricey. However, Tamiya doing a collaboration with a brand like Supreme does a lot to get our hobby exposure, something we can never get enough of.
