  1. Hobbycraft includes ESC - probably worth the fiver https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153445549421?epid=15031984460&hash=item23ba11456d:g:TjwAAOSwYYpcCaaz They used to be pretty cheap for acrylic paints, and the easiest place to get the thinners too.
  2. £99.99 but, if you sign up to their club, you get 15% off first order https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/tamiya-the-grasshopper-rc-model-kit-110/643109-1000 Code is sent within about 5 minutes of registering Not sure if they still do, but they also used to send you a £5 birthday voucher too
  3. What I used to do with mass uploads was rename the pics first, so they had a common name with 001, 002, 003 etc at the end. When writing up the thread, you then only have to copy one line of code and then just edit the last couple of digits in the text - TCPhotos retains the filename of the pic at the end of the code [img=http://tcphotos.net/images/2022/02/02/001.jpg] [img=http://tcphotos.net/images/2022/02/02/002.jpg] [img=http://tcphotos.net/images/2022/02/02/003.jpg] [img=http://tcphotos.net/images/2022/02/02/tamiya001.jpg] [img=http://tcphotos.net/images/2022/02/02/tamiya002.jpg] [img=http://tcphotos.net/images/2022/02/02/tamiya003.jpg] The only time it might not work is if someone's already uploaded a file with the same name that day, so use unusual filename in front of the 001, 002 etc.
  4. Sorry, I've not been a mod for a couple of years now
  5. The 'body post' holes on an Avante are slotted/oval - he's joining two holes together with the files.
  6. How do you mean? he used a reamer several times
  7. A 936 sold on eBay recently for under £750 - Link to finished auction The seller is a member of TC, you could try asking himn what it sold for; https://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom.asp?id=19481
  8. I've always fancied building another 'rally' TB-01 - they were pretty much bombproof and there's a great selection of bodies around now. If they rere'd the chassis and a load of the hop-ups, I'd grab one
  9. I got notification of payment received immediately, but then eBay has held on to the funds for some reason. I don't sell all that regularly any more, but this was the lowest value item for about 9 months, previous stuff like XBox Elite controllers, GPS handsets, gaming keyboards etc. have gone thru unchallenged but, for some reason, a body set attracts a little extra caution from eBay There was no message to say they were holding the funds, it was only today when I checked that I realised they hadn't paid out. I received messages to say the item sold, and another that the seller had paid, but nothing to say the funds were held - They obviously don't want sellers backing out of deals!
  10. eBay (UK at least) are regularly cutting their FVF with offers though - last one was FVF £1 if you bought anything on eBay before listing. I only list when there's offers now, but now eBay are holding money back because the buyer can't be bothered to go get the stuff, I probably won't list much more.
  11. eBay are now deciding when to release funds though Buyer hasn't collected from Post Office yet, so eBay are hanging on to my £47
  12. If they're hex screws, they're 'button head' and 'pan head' if they're Philips/JIS/Posi As they're stainless, you can 'turn' the head diameter down dead easy with a pistol drill and a file
  13. Super Avante definitely 'wins' the Ugly on the nose
  14. Mokei Kagaku just posted this on FB 58697 Astute 2022 (TD2 chassis) Description: Tamiya is proud to announce a new 1/10 R/C off-road buggy model based upon the brand new TD2 chassis. The newly designed stylish body is produced by Kota Nezu who penned that of the recently released Super Avante. About the model: • This is a 1/10 R/C assembly kit. Length: 387mm, width: 246mm. Wheelbase: 283mm. • The distinctive polycarbonate body is designed by Japanese designer Kota Nezu of znug design. • The new TD2 chassis based around the TD4 chassis employs an front inboard suspension layout which offers exceptionally slim, low-profile form. Also, its front suspension arms have a skid angle of 25 degrees for superlative ground-hugging and stable performance off-road, plus angled CVA oil dampers to allow smooth suspension movement. • The chassis based on the one-piece monocoque frame uses the same ball differentials as the ones of the TD4 chassis, plus full ball bearings, and features a transverse battery pack positioned to the rear and a midship transverse motor with 3 gears connecting it to the drivetrain for optimum balance and improved performance. • Ribbed front and rear square spike tires facilitate stability and great grip. The newly designed star dish design front wheels are attached by hex hubs. • The 4-wheel double wishbone suspension system uses CVA oil dampers for superlative performance. • Choose between high and low type wing stays to adjust the downforce depending on the road surface. • Comes with a driver figure who gives your buggy a realistic look, and high-torque servo saver.
  15. From Mokei Kagaku on FB 47481 Super Avante (Painted Body) (TD4 chassis) Description: No time to paint? Want to start building the main kit as soon as you open it!? Look no further as this Limited-Edition version of the Super Avante includes a pre-painted body with a few special-colored parts! This R/C model assembly kit creates the Super Avante, a 4WD off-road buggy that is bestowed with Tamiya's legendary Avante name. It features an exceptionally low-profile design enabled in part by its front inboard suspension, with a shaft-driven 4WD drivetrain powered by a midship motor and employing front/rear ball differentials plus full ball bearings. Its futuristic body design is the work of Kota Nezu at Znug Design, and features numerous clear sections that just add to the Super Avante's distinctly modern mood, as do the cockpit-rear buttress and the four mini fenders. TD4 - Low Profile, High Performance The TD4 is a shaft-driven 4WD buggy chassis which employs front inboard suspension for slim, low-profile form. It features a longitudinal battery pack position in the center and a midship transverse motor for optimum balance and improved performance. The drivetrain uses full bearings, and sealed front/rear gearboxes have built-in ball differentials. Two link rods and crank arm transmit movement of the left-side servo to the three-piece steering arm setup. 4-wheel independent double wishbone suspension utilizes CVA oil dampers. Turnbuckle shaft upper arms facilitate camber angle adjustment. Two types (high/low) of wing stays are included and star dish wheels are paired with square spike tires which offer superlative grip off-road. • 1/10 R/C model assembly kit. Length: 387mm, width: 246mm. 16. From the re-release manual, page 11 https://www.tamiya.com/english/rc/manuals.htm BJ2 is in one of the gear bags, you just need to drill a 3mm hole in the box lid (the aerial hole is already there)
  17. Here's their internal decals too; https://xxxmain.com/collections/internal-graphics
  18. The picture glue is still available; https://xxxmain.com/products/lexan-picture-glue Mod Podge also works ok, but isn't quite as transparent @Wranger tamiya decals go on the outside, just remember to peel off the overspray film on the outside of the body before applying the decals (but after you finished painting)
  19. IIRC, the Paypal Subs bit was used purely for the reminder part. The only problem with it is the 'recurring' subs bit also means you can only pay when funded by a card, you can't use a Paypal balance, despite TC not taking follow-up payments automatically
  20. TC subs have never renewed automatically - Paypal's wording makes it sound like it will, TC don't use that function. You get a reminder once your subs have expired, but nothing gets deleted, you just can't edit etc. until you renew.

  22. Few more here; https://www.tamiyaclub.com/car.asp?cid=826
  23. The actual joint should be held together by one pin passing through another, in a cross shape. The 'retaining' pin is, essentially, a rivet - one end is domed and the other end should have a dent in it where the end is swaged out or flared, like the end of a trumpet. There's no screws holding the joint together, only that rivet Other end of retaining pin/rivet, with 'dent' for flaring the end You can see the flared end on the right of the pic The other pin should be flat at either end If the retaining pin hasn't been sufficiently flared, then it'll slide out of the assembly. If you have a centre-punch you could try flaring that end out some more - at a push you might be able to do it with a big nail. You'll need to rest the assembly on a firm hard surface whilst hammering - something like an anvil or the back end of a vice
  24. Isn't the 104 cutoff voltage lower than LiPo recommendation? I thought Tamiya ESC only cut off for LiFe batteries
