  1. THANKS I just ordered the 540 J type motor for some reasion it's a few bucks more than the standard version 540? whyis the J motor more $ if it's the same as a stock 540? I have a 17 tooth pinion already. I will see how it goes as the 380 is to slow for me now.... I don't want it super fast as i have other RC's for that with the holiday buggy it's more of a FUN car to drive for me and i think if it was fast it would be prone to more brakage on the body for sure so this is why i want to keep it at just a fun speed to run.
  2. Hi i just put together a holiday buggy 2010 it's so slow with the 380 ,,,, I was looking at the stock tamiya 540 and they also make a 540 J johnson motor how much faster is the J motoer than the stock 540? Also in the holiday buggy would the sport tuned be the best choice or would a little slower be good for this thing? THANKS
  3. Guy's i just got a hornet and a holiday buggy and i know guy's complane because the tires on the HD buggy stick way out... so i put the HB body over the bottom of my honet chassis and the front wheels sit under the fende and the rears stick out a little but alot less than stock HB chassis... Don't know if you can fit the HB body on the hornet chassis though.
  4. a few more.
  5. FINN just want to add black on the rear luvers with a good permenent marker if possible. I did my own theme cut the blue off the one sticker and used it on the hood. Comments welcome.
  6. Thanks. Yea the body is real slippery feeling I can tell for sure no paint will stick to this one.
  7. well shes done... this buggy body style reminds me of the lotus 7 cars. i just have to put some stickers on and i am not putting the stickers they give you on they are blue and yellow meant for the blue version tamiya should have made some new colors.. anyhow went with a white top since everyone always does black. To bad you can't even paint these bodies they are slippery as all badword i don't even think the stickers will stay on! Maybe a black marker will do as i want black rear luvers. Enjoy!
  8. Another shoy.
  9. Hade a few hours to spare chassis is 100% done now i have to do something with the body. Enjoy.
  10. Thanks Guy's!! I love the hornet!! My Red holiday buggy came in today but i probably won't start it for a little while .... any weak spots on that holiday buggy body?
  11. Thanks guy's! It has full ball bearings all else is stock I have to say the stock 540 seems plenty fast for the hornet...I remembered it being fast as a kid...and thought it was because i was small but it actully is pretty quick for what it is!
  12. Another shot.
  13. Finished the hornet up that i got last night in the mail... I swear the body was the hardest thing that took the longest!!! Good old tamiya still makes you work hard to build your model just like the old days i remember cutting all those stickers out!! Brings a BIG smile on my face it's just like the one i had when i was small! I am in love all over again!! I think i want to get a runner body and make this one my display version when the hornet is on the shelf. Enjoy comments welcome.... I did do 100% like the box art.
  14. GREAT!! thanks I tried putting my old Kop propo EX5 radio in the hornet but kos receiever only has to ports for running 2 servos and the tamiya ESC has that extra connection plug so i could not use it!! Now i have my Ko propo EX1 UR in it... now that's a big advancment in tech ofer the hornet days!
  15. Thanks i have some 15wt oil maybe i will refill the shocks with that.... I will give it a run first after i finish it ands see how it runs... i was looking at the chassis and i think some stick on led wieghts like used to balance real car tires would work real good you can stick some right near the bottom of the chassis right across the flat back of the chassis right in front of the swing arm suspension where the gear box connects on.
  16. Hi guy's i started putting my new hornet kit together and i decided to use silicone shock oil in place of the stock stuff But i have a ? what's the best wieght shock oil to run in the stock hornet rears as i put 25wt and i am not sure maybe i should have gon 15wt or so. Any help will be great THANKS

  20. Hi thanks i though tamiya used afunky pitch like 49 pitch on there models i did not think they were 32pitch?
  21. Thanks for the info. I am not looking to make these speed demons I have other RC's for that I just want them fast enough to be fun. if you don't mind me asking Ware do you get the steel tamiya pinion gears that are needed for the HB and hornet? If i recal those aluminum ones wear quickly and make all your gears in your gear box turn blackis gray!! I has a super shot that would be neat to see again. THANKS
  22. Thanks they should land here early next week!!
