  1. On a smooth surface in a straight line with the same motor I'd put my money on the Hornet. I've had these two side by side before and the Hornet is much faster in a straight line. Hornet is very light with not much driveline drag.

    Change the surface to bumpy, or add corners, then you'll be flatout keeping the Hornet pointed the right direction.

    Yep the hornet is light in fact the other day i weighed it and it was 990 something grams!! that was ready to run but no battery in it.

  2. I was thinking the same thing also a larger front bumper that would fit.

    I would like to know if there are any alternative or aftermarket front bumpers available for the DT-02 chassis? As the body of the Holiday Buggy sits a little bit in front of the bumper and remains unprotected to impacts, it got cracked up to the fenders due to a crash. Something in the style of the wide DT-01 front bumper or similar would be appreciated.
  3. Hi guy's what paint works best to paint all the plastic on a fast attack re release?

    want something durable that won't scratch off easy.

    I was thinking of using krylon fusion that is specaily made for plastics?

    What do you guy's use that works best?

    THANKS

  4. Hi looks great!!

    ? for ya hows those shocks are they good?

    also where do you buy them from on line ?

    was looking and only seen 3 racing makes them for the holiday buggy.

    THANKS

    Here's my entry to the HBAS, complete with full bearings, Novatech Assasin 3600kv brushless, Yeah Racing shocks, and 3Racing wheels and tyres. Painted the roof pearl white to match the white wheels.

  5. Thanks i thought it would not take to much abuase But i ordered one anyhow i am probably mostly going to run on a baseball field and on dirt with some low dieng grass.

    ? i have does this use the 32P pinions also like the hornet?

    THANKS

    I think she is best kept on paved road. You can take it off road and do some jumps, but don't run or jump her like as if she is a modern day buggy or truck. Go to Tamiya USA for the built and you'll see she is made mostly of plastic and is more looks than attack.
  6. Hi plug the ESC's red plug into the battery slot in your reciever.

    Does your receiver have more than two plug spots in it?

    Usally have 3 slots

    Battery

    channel 1

    channel 2

    I was about to complete my Hornet build, but got stuck/confused when installing the electronics.

    I'm using:

    * Receiver: Futaba R152JE

    * ESC: Futaba MC230CR

    * Servo: S3003

    The receiver gets the following connections:

    * Servo -> CH1

    * ESC -> CH2

    I'm under the impression that the receiver should get power from the BEC equipped ESC (through CH2), but the setup is dead without connecting an external power supply to the receiver (4xAA batteries). I've also tried the same setup but with another receiver (Futaba R162JE), but gets the same silent result.

    Does anyone know what might be the problem here? If needed, I can post some photos of the setup.

  7. :) WOW what a FUN buggy to drive now with the 380 it was just so slow you could not get a feel for just how nice this chassis works .

    I think my new hornet with the same motor is faster because i weighed them and the hornet minus battery is 990grams and the HB is like amost 1300grams.

    Now i am thinking of getting some oil shocks for my HB what ones work with this buggy and are not to much $$.

    THANKS

  8. Hi i just finished my holiday buggy and put a stock 540 motor in it and it's much FUN to drive now with the 380 it was to much of a slug!!! yours should be a hair faster with the J motor also.

    I used a 17 tooth robinson racing and on my hornit a 18 tooth traxxas I think traxxas pinions are better they are wider and hit more of the spur gear....Get a traxxas E-max 17 Tooth 32 pitch pinon it will be good.

    Here is mine.

  9. Yea thanks guy's I just found out it was a normal 540!! shop on E-bay has a fulse add !!!

    Anyhow i looked on e-bay and those Johnson motors go for like $20.00 shipped so for like $3.00 more bucks you can get a tamiya black cansport tuned motor shipped to your door so i purchased one of those just in case the 540 is to slow for me.... Can't test it today or for a few days as here in NJ we are going to get blasted with bad weather!

  10. Hi guy's

    i just got this off of e-bay listed and part # for a J johnson 540 motor is this one...how do you tell it looks 100% the same as my new hornets motor but it has stamped DP in the sticker where as my hornet motor has 2 other letters or is this just the persions name who put the sticker on that day?

    Thanks

  11. Yes, the front fenders and the white roof panel (if it lands on it).

    I also use a 540.....

    Yea my roof got a hair crack in it just from pushing on it to push the body on.

    anything you can do to make these areas stronger?

    maybe put another thin layer of styrine plastic sheet under the roof with that model solvent that bonds plastics together?

  12. Looks great...

    Weak spots on the HB body? Front wings & the roof.. Don't crash a HB at speed. The body isn't strong.

    Do you mean the front fenders? and the roof ware does it break could i reinforce it with goop glue?

    I just ordered a tamiya 540 J motor will these cause major damage to the body at the speed it will go?

    THANKS
