Hi Theo: Yeah, I bought my HB back in 1981 and had it all the way to 1994. I was thrown away when my wife decided to clean our house. Ouch[] Anyway, based on my yearly budget, I'll have to wait till next year to get my HB. By the way, it final configuration was an Associated 5.0 motor. Unfortunately it didn;t take long to burn out the mechanical speed controller... Oh well such as life... John

For me, it would have to be a car that I vividly remember from my Childhood. I would love to find a Holiday Buggy NIB. For this was my first and would love to build another. As for the some of the 4WD 3spd, I don't remember too many of those so these really wouldn't move my like the SS and the Holiday Buggy did....

Hello: For CA get a debonder. It works wonders. Just test this in a small area to insure that it does not adversely effect the plastic. For epoxy, I dunked the body in warm water for about 1 hour. I think Snollan suggested this, thanks[]. Anyway, the epoxy came right off without any problems. Now I am working a Sand Scorcher Body where the previous owner glued the Window to the body[!]. I ended up taking an X-Acto knife with a #11 blade and scoring (lightly) around the cemented parts. The window came out but I still had to contend with the cement. I ended up taking my Dremel and on the lowest lightly, heavy emphasis on lightly sand away the cemented area. You will have scoring marks from where the cemented etched its way into the plastic but you can use body filler to fix the pot-marks... HTH John

Yeah, I agree that sounds like a terrific idea. The problem is where to start and getting enough time to do this. How would a person be able to compile this something like this? I am not sure of any graphics software within a PC, whereas I am sure that the MAC would probably be better suited.. Just my $.02 worth. John

Amen to that. This hobby of mine is becoming to almost bothersome for me. I approached it all wrong. My sole intention was to end up with a Sand Scorcher, I got one[]. Now I am restoring it. However, I bought a Tamiya Pajero restored it and drove it in my basement, I sold it and didn't make any money on it[V]. I bought a Falcon for Cheap and spent an additional $50 getting that thing back into shape. Luckily the parts for this where not that bad and most of the vehicle was in great shape to begin with. I'll probably save that for me youngest. The Bear hawk was a great bargin and my oldest son drives that. Unfortunately, I bought a Black foot. I originally purchased this for $50 and probably spent an additional $150 in restoration. Will I get that out it? No[xx(][!]. Looking back on all of this past year, the year I started this endevaour, I'd been better off buying a NIB Sand Scorcher for the amount of money sunk into getting to where I am. On the other hand, its a hobby[8)]. John

You can actually filter out the junk mail within hotmail. Does it work, about 80% of the time. If you use exclusive filtering, then no one can get to you without being on your address book. Slick, eh?

Whats ironic, is you could buy a 1:1 scale Hi-Lux (1981)in the US for a fraction of what this kit could end up being....

Yes, the matte grey one, looks like its 1/2 VW type 82E and 1/2 Sand Scorcher. During WWII, the Germans used these as scout cars and embasy attache transports. It looks like the split window on this scorcher was some type of conversion kit. Looks quite impressive.

Is this going to be yellow and red. Can't wait to see the final product. What type of paint are you using?

yeah, Ive noticed that myself. Also, I've noticed on stuff that I didn't win, will reappear after I've deleted it. I think that a server crashes and they use some type of backup XX days ago when they do a restore.

Does anyone know if Tamiya plans to introduce any new cars stryene body(non-lexan) soon? If so what kits are going to be introduced?

Yeah, I was thinking about that. I would have to bend the pipe with a propane torch and then sodder(sp). If I just had the dimensions in which to work off. Anyone have these or maybe a few snapshots the real McCoy? John

I recently won a SS on ebay and upon receiving this, I noticed that tires are in order. What is the threshold on paying for original SS rear and front tires? In other words, how much is too much? Thanks again. John

Does anyone make an aftermarket exhaust for the SS? I know its a long shot so I thought that I would ask. I am contemplating making some from brass tubing. I would just need some dimensions. Does anyone know what the dimensions for these things would be? I am afraid that NIB exhausts would be prohibitivly expensive. Just thought that I would ask. John

As a rule of thumb. I try to avoid auction that have "sunglasses". Never been burnt, but knew of people who have. John

I personnally like the Novak Explorer II. It has no reverse, but this can only help you improve your driving ability. J3
