Believe it or not Testors has some pretty quality Military type paints. Like everyone else said, you neeed to use an airbrush and get the modelmaster flat enamels. Those are what I use when I model my 1/48 scale aircraft and have never had a problem with them.
Just remember to spray you lite coat first....

I have a hard plastic shell hummer, not the lexan type. How do I paint it cammo? I've seen the end result, never seen it done. I'd like to paint this for my nephew to give it to him, but I don't know where to start.
Lay it on me...

I am sorry but I have to comment. The phase comes to mind when refering to this person. "Rode hard, put away wet".[}

That's pretty cool. Did you have any problems fitting the Brat Body to the XC Chassis?

So with some creative fitting and donor XC chassis, I now have a Brat that can proudly display its 4WD insignia. Plus it's a blast to drive.
You can see it in my showroom:

Ok, I am ducking for cover on this one. While I think that the SS is a lovely car and absolutely had to have one. My favorite is the Holiday Buggy. It was my first Tamiya and if the Holiday Buggy gods smile upon me, I shall have one again....[

Thanks alot guys for the encouragement. Shodog, I hope your auction comes through soon.

I had the same problem.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...1790107321&rd=1
This guy claims to have sent it out and has even left feedback. He keeps assuring me that I should receive this anyday now. So far its been a no show.[
!] I've order stuff from Japan that reached me quicker than this.You know what kills me, I checked his feedback and everything looked like he was on the up and up.[V] Oh well only time will tell.

Just hoping to avoid paying over the odds on eBay for something still readily available.
Cheers.

Good in 2002
* Brought our dream house.[^]
* Job was safe from layoffs. Thank you SAP!!! [:0]
* Discovered Tamiya Club[8D]

* Youngest son going through teething process [xx(]

I'll do you one better....
In 1982 remember buying my Holiday Buggy tax title and out the door for $75.[
] My local hobbyshop had an NIB SS for $120.[V]John

It all boils down to taste. Collect what you like. If you don't like, don't buy one. Simple as that. I have an SS because I always wanted one and can remember seeing these vividly in my LHS back in the town where I grew up in Ohio. I had a friend that had one but ended up trashing it. I never got to drive it but always admired the SS anyway...

There seems to be quite a few of these popping up on Ebay and at some reasonable prices to boot. How are these cars? I understand that they are rally, what does that mean? Offroad/Onroad?
I am hoping to be schooled in what rally means?

I would have to say my Blitzer Beetle and secondly my Isuzu Mu.

Good luck Chris,
I'd love to see it when it finished....

Hi Chris:
Speaking from experience the Bear Hawk looks great but performs horridly (is that a word??). Anyway, the buggy sit too low to the ground and gets stuck over some of the smallest ruts. Here's my review on the vehicle.
http://www.tamiyaclub.com/car_comment.asp?cid=93
As for mounting the thing on a RR. The body itself is pretty shallow. In fact when I mounted an ESC, I had remove the driver figure. So I don't think that you would easily mount this on a RR. Also keep in mind that this thing used a Falcon Tub type chassis. Whereas the RR, used that Curcuit board type chassis. I plan on restoring mine and just keeping it as a shelf queen.

I would have to say that I found a Falcon for $30. The chassis was in excellent shape and found a body set for $20.

Hello all:
I am not sure if this has been posted or not, so here goes. My question is this. When are the prices on Ebay the lowest during a particular year. It appears that this is a cycle and we are in the midst of high-price portion of the cycle.
Anyone have any ideas?

I used to use Pactra and the effect was superb, great coverage and a decent volume in the can.
I have sprayed up a Top Force and needed 2 cans to complete. However the paint is first class and goes on superbly. Could do with larger cans...otheriwse excellent paint.
For me originality is important and it has to be the right colour. [
]I'll check to see if Pactra is avail. Thanks for the info...

I am getting ready to spray my SS and thought that I would TS-16, which I believe this the yellow. Are these paints any good?

Tamiya Collector Insurance US??????
in General discussions
Posted
I am not sure about the rest of the country, but here in Kentucky there really aren't very many clubs that race cars let alone have folks insure them. I am sure that you could take a general insurance policy and assign any value that you would like to it. More than likely it would fall under your house or apartment insurance.
