  1. I am not sure about the rest of the country, but here in Kentucky there really aren't very many clubs that race cars let alone have folks insure them. I am sure that you could take a general insurance policy and assign any value that you would like to it. More than likely it would fall under your house or apartment insurance.

  2. Believe it or not Testors has some pretty quality Military type paints. Like everyone else said, you neeed to use an airbrush and get the modelmaster flat enamels. Those are what I use when I model my 1/48 scale aircraft and have never had a problem with them.

    Just remember to spray you lite coat first....

    Hello,

    I have a hard plastic shell hummer, not the lexan type. How do I paint it cammo? I've seen the end result, never seen it done. I'd like to paint this for my nephew to give it to him, but I don't know where to start.

    Lay it on me...

  3. That's pretty cool. Did you have any problems fitting the Brat Body to the XC Chassis?

    My current favorite is my hybrid Subaru Brat XC. I love the Brat, but 4WD stickers without the 4WD to back them up can be a bit of a let down. So with some creative fitting and donor XC chassis, I now have a Brat that can proudly display its 4WD insignia. Plus it's a blast to drive.

    You can see it in my showroom:

  4. Ok, I am ducking for cover on this one. While I think that the SS is a lovely car and absolutely had to have one. My favorite is the Holiday Buggy. It was my first Tamiya and if the Holiday Buggy gods smile upon me, I shall have one again....[:D]

    What is your favourite Tamiya of all time. The one car that regardless of nostalgia, cost or practicality just makes you drool! [:P] Or, if you had been head of the Tamiya design team in the 80's what would have been the car you would want built? The car to beat all others. The ultimate Tamiya[?]

  5. I had the same problem.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...1790107321&rd=1

    This guy claims to have sent it out and has even left feedback. He keeps assuring me that I should receive this anyday now. So far its been a no show.[:(!] I've order stuff from Japan that reached me quicker than this.

    You know what kills me, I checked his feedback and everything looked like he was on the up and up.[V] Oh well only time will tell.

    I'm just starting to collect Tamiya models and am going to start off with some cars i had when i was a lad. Just wondering if theres a list floating round of Kits that are still available to order i.e through a model shop.

    Just hoping to avoid paying over the odds on eBay for something still readily available.

    Cheers.

  7. Good in 2002

    * Brought our dream house.[^]

    * Job was safe from layoffs. Thank you SAP!!! [:0]

    * Discovered Tamiya Club[8D]

    * Started collecting the old Tamiya cars[:P]

    Bad in 2002

    * Youngest son going through teething process [xx(]

    * Found Ebay prices are too high and can't resist them, sometimes[:(!]

    * Not enough time to run the Tamiya's[V]

  8. It all boils down to taste. Collect what you like. If you don't like, don't buy one. Simple as that. I have an SS because I always wanted one and can remember seeing these vividly in my LHS back in the town where I grew up in Ohio. I had a friend that had one but ended up trashing it. I never got to drive it but always admired the SS anyway...

  9. Hi Chris:

    Speaking from experience the Bear Hawk looks great but performs horridly (is that a word??). Anyway, the buggy sit too low to the ground and gets stuck over some of the smallest ruts. Here's my review on the vehicle.

    As for mounting the thing on a RR. The body itself is pretty shallow. In fact when I mounted an ESC, I had remove the driver figure. So I don't think that you would easily mount this on a RR. Also keep in mind that this thing used a Falcon Tub type chassis. Whereas the RR, used that Curcuit board type chassis. I plan on restoring mine and just keeping it as a shelf queen.

    When I tried to but their paint, one shop said they didn't stock cos it flaked and coverage was poor and the cans hold too little...

    I used to use Pactra and the effect was superb, great coverage and a decent volume in the can.

    I have sprayed up a Top Force and needed 2 cans to complete. However the paint is first class and goes on superbly. Could do with larger cans...otheriwse excellent paint.

    For me originality is important and it has to be the right colour. [:)]

    I'll check to see if Pactra is avail. Thanks for the info...

  11. Hey congratulations. That looks like a good price...[;)]

    What just happened there?!?

    In a moment of weakness I placed a bid on a used Hilux Bruiser/Mountaineer (I don't even know which) on eBay. It so happened that my bid turned out to be the high bid [:0] So I guess I now own myself a Hilux, but did I make a good deal or [?]

    Any comments?
