  1. Will someone please tell me what is so special about these motors. I still dont know what all the fuss is about.
  2. was there ever a carbon prop shaft made by Tamiya (or any other make) made for the top force? Just trying to mod mine and that steel one is crying out to be changed. Seems like a good mod idea to me.
  3. i only bought it cos i thought it was thin plastic. I should have asked really so that was my fault. I saw that guys feedback but only after i paid for mine. Still, if it fits this time i will still give positive feedback since that guy has been good about a replacement.
  4. quote:How can you tell if a SS has one or not? On one of my SS, when I hold one wheel, I can turn the other a quartere of a turn before i feel it on the other wheel. Is this just wear and tear in the gearcase or can this be what is described?id="quote">id="quote">yup that is worn universal joints. the brass ones wear out alot more than the black steel ones. Change to black ones if you use it as a runner.
  5. Well the answer is sticky back plastic. Well done blue peter fans. I think it is misleading though saying he works for a moulding company but its jusyt plastic to cut to size. He said it was made to measure but it was 4mm too small in width and was screwed up as it was sent in a standard brown envelpoe [xx(] I complaied to him and he sid he would send another one made larger for me as someone else cmplained as well. He is also now going to use hard backed envelopes which is good. It would look ok if it was the right size and fixed well but with 2mm on each side its just tacky.
  6. Based on this guys descrition, what would you say the product is made of? I just bought one but i think the description is misleading. I wont say what it is till i get some replies. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...item=2161708389
  7. quote:was there a company that made differentials, that were junk and you would not want to buyid="quote">id="quote">Take whatever you can get. Any diff is so rare you will have to pay alot for it. Never seen one on ebay.co.uk so far.
  8. I could say the old joke of making money "hand over fist" but that might be a bit near the mark [] Anyway, getting off topic i feel.
  9. Are these of any use to anyone in the UK? I just got a new in pack set number 493 but i dont need them. Trades greatly preffered or a cash offer.
  10. In the UK you can only send them with some companies. Royal mail wont touch them (acording to some modelshops i have ordered from) so they have to be sent by corrier. No idea on air mail. Apex models say they wont ship these outside the uk but anything else is no problem.
  11. This guy is selling batteries for £3 a time. I love his descrition saying quote:Do you want the best battery for your radio controlled car well this is the one.id="quote">id="quote">http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...76174&category= Thats where i have been going wrong. I always spend £30 plus on a pack of batteries (Usually nearer £40) All this time i could have had the best for £3! Maybe this is a genuine bargain but i think not.
  12. thank sbibbo, i will give it a few days 1st then. Cheers mate.
  13. quote:Maybe thats the real face that was for sale on e-bay a while back!!!. There was a thread going about it and then e-bay removed it because it was in bad taste id="quote">id="quote">I remember that one, could well be actually. A little bit cheaper now than that one but it has already had 2 owners [] quote:Looks like Jason of "A Nightmare on Alm St."id="quote">id="quote">Elm street i think it was.
  14. who ever would have thought a can was worth so much. Wonder what my 6 pack of bud is worth...
  15. Has anybody got one and if so what are they like? I am interested in getting one but would like some peoples view on real life experience. What is the sound like compared to 2 stroke nitro? Is the engine 2 or 4 stroke? Uses normal unleaded doesnt it? What is their top speed and acceleration like? Finally, and most importantly, are they fun?
  16. Not an rc vechicle or Tamiya but interesting. Must have been this guys school project or something. Just had to post this for novelty value! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...52722&category=
  17. Wasn't the Kyosho beetle one that used a shell like that with that type of rear end?
  18. quote:Well I wasn't annoyed by the email I got, more so by the fact that he wanted my car for fun, thats waht really annoyed me.id="quote">id="quote">Cars for fun, madness!!!! [] No, seriously i know what you mean. So far nobody has ever contacted me. I must have bad ones then. []
  19. The nimh cells are much better from the environment than nicd cells. Those nicd are posionous because of the cadmium. I dont know if the nimh cells are completely safe or not but i am sure someone else knows. If they are safe then the bin should be ok.
  20. Thanks guys, i will have to ask around.
  21. I would say pay what you want. If you have millions to spend it does not matter. If you dont want to pay much then dont. The test is what figure, if you saw it on EBAY, would you hit the Buy it Now? £15, £25 etc? If i saw a BIN for £25 for a new hump back pack i would snap it up instantly. If it was Like £40 i would have to think about it more, it would depend how much i wanted it. (Oh, i do want one and pay day is next week...)
  22. quote:You should be able to take one apart and replace the cells if you really wanted thoughid="quote">id="quote">You obviously have never tried! These things are bullet proof and cant be opened. You can cut them up but they would never look right again. Since people usually only use these batteries to be authentic cutting them up defeats the object i feel.
  23. Lots of people buy them because thats what the car was designed to have in so keeping the authentic theme. Unless you are looking for display or cant make yourself one of those hump back packs out of single cells then just make one. Modern batteries are better (15-20 years evolution must have lead somewhere!) if you buy reasonable quality (ie not £10 a pack things). I actually tested a few used ones on a high quality modern discharging system. Under load they droped to around 5 volts (ie slow)which is very poor compared to todays cells. Look good on the shelf queen though. (New ones may be better though but i am not lucky enough to own one [] To answer your question i say people probably buy for authenticity and shelf queens.
  24. Over my racing life i have found that you get what you pay for. Dont expect a £40 charger to have all the features and quality, it just doesnt happen. If you want a basic one thats fine but the amount batteries cost its worth the money for a good charger. I have the Novak millenium which has worked perfectly for years. Its downside is the 12 volt operation but the new one runs off the mains as well so problem sold. Dont know if the new one discharges though, you would have to check out their web site. I did have a nice orion one before that did discharging as well that was about £120. Cant think of the model but it worked well except the connector on the 12V lead blackened and melted with regular max amp charging. I felt is was a fire risk so i got the novak.
  25. Got a reply back from the seller. He is onto our spying game game. He knows about tamiyaclub and has read these posts!!! How could such a security leak happen? [] On a serious note, if you are reading this Mike (he is the one selling that rough rider) I am sure you have checked out all what tamiya club has to offer. Hope you agree its a great site and nobody here takes life too seriously. Our critacisms are just a cover for our own flaws. [] (Strange how true that is when you think about it!)
