What do people buy R/C boxes??
mr_lister999. replied to night_owl's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
ok, stupid question here but how do you post the box if you sell it? Just wrap up in brown paper, fill with newspaper and post normally or fold down the box on the original folds so its sort of flat then send it wraped up or what? I have got a monster beetle box i dont really need but seems a waste to throw away. I will probably bring it to the spring drive and swap it for something a little smaller [] -

quote:Hey I have a T-maxx and a Nitro RS4. They are not in my showroom becuase they are so common placeid="quote">id="quote">Have you tried recently to buy a TMAXX 2.5???? I cant find anywhere that has one and they all say sold out till end Feb, start March! Not at all common in model shops! Oh well, i need that money for a new 1:1 car anyway. -
just not possible. Prices change all the time. Best way to determine price is to look at completed items on Ebay, even then these could be wrong. Next best way is just to ask on the forum at the time you see something you want.

Silly prices
mr_lister999. replied to Bibbo's topic in Off-Site sales plugs, tips & gossip - Including eBay, Gumtree etc.
I still think the price of about £50 is reasonable. I bet they will go up to alot more than that. If you want them you will pay. It only takes 2 people remember. -
HAHA I guess.

well, that guy has bid twice and has a great feedback record. Seems strange he would bid since he is obviosly a genuine guy but who knows. Well written though. -
Check out www.mtroniks.net Just follow the links on their site, its easy to do. I think their site is playing up a bit at the moment so if you cant find it then check back the next day. I have seen it on there a few weeks ago.

that guy was selling a couple of old mardaves as well but he described them as old mardaves so he must know a bit about the old ones. The body is thick lexan which is badly painted. For £15 which incldes postage it was worth the risk of getting it going. He did say it went fast so it must work. Still, i will clean it up and put it in my showroom when i get it so you can see better pictures. I just cant resist a bargain.

Check this out. www.apexmodels.com. Go to the kit links then Tamiya. Selling a Superchamp and a renault 5 turbo NIB. Talk about cashing in on our hobby. This is one of the biggest modelshops in the country so this could mean everybody who sees it and has one at home will dig them out and try charging that on EBAY for them. This could be the end of BIN bargains on EBAY, maybe...

quote:You can't quite expect double run times with two batteries connected in parallel, as the added weight and slighty higher currents during full acceleration and full load will take its toll.id="quote">id="quote">No worries there, its an EMAXX so these things weigh a ton to start start with. One more pack is only a small percentage.

dont forget you can use the dampers made by tamiya (used on cars like the sandscorcher) The hilux is designed to use these. Dont think it would do much but still a period tamiya hop up.

Everything you wanted to know about motors.
mr_lister999. replied to mr_lister999.'s topic in General discussions
I'm just too kind to you guys [] -
quote:I would be more worried about the 2 motor setup myself. As the motors are not getting warm they are having an easy time in the car, so as long as you do not replace them with modifieds I don't think you are overloading the ESC.id="quote">id="quote">Dont worry about that. The control is designed for parallel motors. It tells you how to set them up. * turn limit means 2 16 turn motors max. I ran 2 packs of 3000's one after the other about an hour ago and the motors were still almost room temperature. (based on a 3 tooth smaller spure than standard with standard pinions.) Thanks for the detailed descriptions guys, that helps alot. Just wanted to make sure as i didnt want to wreck anything. Also dont worry about different states of charge in the packs. Both are the same age, run the same number of times, charged on my Novak millenium charger and discharged to the same voltage on my cs electronic discharger. (I know you dont need to discharge those batteries but i like to know how long i had left in them [] ) Thanks again.

you dont have to strip the car down to find out about the diff. Just turn ONE back wheel. The other will rotate in the oposite direction if it has a ball diff. The same direction if standard.
-
Could be a bit less than "normal" prices since lots of people want original spec cars. Is it just the green chassis that is different or other parts? If you have that ball diff in the gear case you will get a good price! I am always on the lookout for period hop ups. What country are you in? If its UK then i will be a bidder.

yes i knew about series and series and parallel voltages, it was just about the current issue really. I used the super rooster as thats what came with the second hand maxx i bought. This control looked like it had come straight out of the box. Not a mark on it. The last owner fried the EVX and bought the rooster as a replacemnt but didnt realise the 10 cell limit. I ran it on 10 cell with the standard motors... not great. Bought 2 fantastic stock 27's and it flies on the 1 battery pack. I set out especially to get high torque stocks and wired them in parallel. I was really surprised that after a full 3000 pack they were barely warm. I was expecting them to be too hot to touch. Just shows you. With that controls limit i am worried that connecting 2 packs in parallel will put out more amps than the control can handle. And at £125 (the cheapest i have seen) i dont want to break it. ) Guess i will just have to pull over and swap connectors to the other pack that i will install.
-
I know its possible to connect 2 7.2V packs in parallel. The question is does this double the run time (2X3000 = 6000mah)(or there abouts) or double the force the power comes out of the cells. (sorry cant think of the technical terms [] e.g. if i puts out say 50Amps does 2 put out 100 Amps at the same time and then overheat the speed control? ) I only ask as i have set up my emaxx to a 7.2 volt system and now have a spare battery compartment. I am running a novak super rooster if that helps. (7.2 volt with 2 top spec 27 stock motors is just sooooo much faster than 14.4 volt with standard motors. Much more torque too!) Hope thats not too confusing.
