  1. i do love makeing people think. From the sounds of it nobody really knows. Perhaps its a one off that never reached production???? (no such luck probably) The seller says it has not a single scratch and only looks like it was a shelf queen since new. Shame there is no body. Should get it soon but i have to wait for the cheque to clear! Cant wait
  2. quote:It has special 'lo-grip' slick tires on it which weren't produced for a long time id="quote">id="quote"> sounds like a great car to me. Never owned a set of special low grip tyres before! If they weren't in production long then they must be valuable! I am tempted on this one but i can't go that high. Only got 2000 at the max. I will have to save up for the next time one of these comes on the market (if it ever does!) [] What a sarcastic bunch we are!
  3. I really don't see what point he is trying to make, he should have made it clearer [] That description works both ways, 1st it says rare and mint condition. 2nd is if you run it and break a part you will NEVER get a replacement, that there is not a single identical part in the world!!! This car sounds far better than any attemp Tamiya ever made at a car, not even a new Scorcher. (possible the fighter buggy is better as he does not mention that one [] )
  4. A crushing moment... []
  5. What was the 1st ever rc car? There must be older things than tamiya around. Just in an historical mood tonight! []
  6. the seller says she bought it off someone and they said its about 5 years old but looks older than that to me. The nearest car i can find to it looks like the AYK 4X4 Viper. I have no idae if it is electric or petrol but the seller says the part numbers start with 399 if that helps anybody. There are no makers marks stamped on it.
  7. What was the 1st ever 4 wheel drive car/buggy built? I am including conversions because they would have produced the 1st car. Any ideas?
  8. Any idea as to what make or model this is. Looked interesting and i wanted a base to customise to make my own model of car. Not a great deal of money reall for what looks like a solid 4 wheel drive buggy. Looks good quality to me but does anyone know what it is? Has anyone a picture and is it a very modern chassis? Belt drive to me guggests early 90's at a guess. My knowledge beyond Tamiya is Fuzzy at best! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...DME:B:EOAB:UK:6
  9. This is a great seller who i have delt with on many occasions an he is completely honest. (just for the record) His prices are usually on the mid/top prices for the parts he sells compared to normal prices. The description says to me to be 2 tyres with rims because of the price. I think thats an ok price and he would not sell 4 NIB tyres and rims for 30 quid speaking from personal experience. I may be wrong but i have bought several parts and these were the prices, all within the past few months: All NIB: all in pounds: Scorcher speed control 25 scorcher front body mount 5 rear cage 25 torsion bars 8 and a few bits i just can't think of at the moment. Missed a good one by him about 4 weeks ago. Buy it Now 28 pounds for a NIB front bumper. They have been going for around 40 recently, missed the bid by a couple of minutes!
  10. Thanks very much chris. This topic on Etiquette could do with being somewhere easy to find for quick reference. Maybe on the FAQ page ( i know its not frequently asked but would be the 1st place i would look if i needed the info. Keep up the good work, its no fun when somebody abuses the board and offends users.
  11. One mainly for Chris here... Read the post about the jeeps and 9/11 for the 1st time just now. Well done for locking it Chris! I am saying nothing about this topic as it is over but is there a set of rules somewhere here that defines board etiquette (i hope i spelled that right). If it was in the original terms of membership then i have forgoton what is was but i can't find it on the site. I just think there should be one so people can review what they post. I hope this is an accepted topic, Chris, as i don't want to discuss topics that should never have been written. I take it there is a "Three strikes and your out" policy then? or is it just one serious offence or what? I would just like to make sure i/other people are doing things by the book as we value this site and would not want to loose it for the world. Can you also explain to me why you chose to lock the topic instead of just deleting it or cutting out the "wrong" stuff? I am just interested to find out, not being critical of you at all (even if thats how it sounds [] ) I hope this topic is fine with you and you can answer my questions. Much appreciated.
  12. i realise that it can be used for the car either way but i don't have one. Just bought it on the chance that is was a genuine one. I thought that the 1979 on the tree at least means its a period one. Cost 50 pounds so not a huge amount of money. Tried to sell it on EBAY before listed as body set for 935 Tamiya Porsche. I said it could be a static body or a an original one but i could not guarentee which. Got up to 54 pounds but did not meet my reserve. ( i set it high at 100 pounds to try and find out its value, if i got 100 then great.) I would say it was worth the money as it has the genuine decals and the parts are all period for the car. A NIB kit went the week before for around 650 pounds. Does this mean that a box and chassis blisters are worth 600 pounds if you can find them? Who knows.
  13. You seem to know alot about Girls toys, is there something you are not telling us? [] Interesting idea though. Got a modified one to show us?
  14. The Fav wheels rare then? Never thought about them to be honest. I ahve one that i got in some parts but come to think about it i have never seen Any on Ebay.co.uk so far seperately.
  15. quote:Mr L, How would I know one of these standard 27 turn motors you're talking about e.g what do they look like and where can you get them from ??????id="quote">id="quote">If you are in the UK then check out www.apexmodels.com They look the same as other modern motors to be honest. Check out the site or just phone the shop and ask them. Remember there is no guarentee that they will fit the gearbox with the label removed as different makes are different sizes (only talking tiny amount but the little extra can cause a problem.) You can file a small amount off the motor to get it to fit if it is too large. Batteries will take a pounding with one of these motors! I would recomend not using the old Hump batteries if you get one, they get hot quite quick. They were never designed for the moder equipment so bear that in mind!
  16. I have a NIB Tamiya 935 body. It came in the big carboard box tht kits come in and has the decals as well. How would i know if it is static or the proper body kit just missing the chassis blisters? There was no lid. One tree says 1979 if thats any help. Check it out. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/getuserimage.asp...220832_main.jpg
  17. Maybe its just for part of NIB collection. If someone offered you the choice of the NIB RC body or the Static kit which would you rather?
  18. err, both links are the same item. Maybe i did not understand you correctly TWINSET but i thought the link was to your item, not bibbo's.
  19. With things like motors i have found people sell them for a reason. Occasionally it is because they need the money desperately or have moved from stock to modified but often its bad. Many people use/abuse the motor and when it starts playing up or drops performance they sell it. When it comes down to it you get what you pay for to a moderate extent. A 50 pound motor being sold for a tenner may seem good value but not always. In an ideal world you would try before you buy or at leastsee the part inuse for a battery run to make sure but on Ebay there is no such luck. You pay your money and take a chance. A mate loaned me his new sport tuned Tamiya motor to try in my touring car as he did not want it but i must say it was BAD. Marginal performance increase on standard silver can. I can't stress enough how much more improvement a top quality 27 turn stock motor makes. 25 pound is not much and they are nearly all great nowadys. Do the motors turn freely when removed from the car? Do they look well used? I know it sounds silly but if the can is badly scratched/ scuffed etc the ovner was probably not the most careful/well informed owner in the world. I have found a motor nearly always overheats once it overheats the 1st time (you know what i mean) The commutator gets blackened and never works the same again. Oh the joys of life...[]

  21. I am about to get myself two custom made. One is a direct copy of the original and the other modified for battery slots etc. Is anyone else interested in one here in the UK as more chassis produced, the cheaper the will be. The companies 1st guess is 45 pounds because it is the prototype. They say expect about 20% reduction in costs for extra ones. Though i would offer to give advance notice and will post pictures of them once the 1st is made before i get people too excited. (Of course you may all hate the idea of carbon on a scorcher but i wanted to make a great runner and something a bit different. You have to spend your money on something don't you?)
  22. Lots of motors will fit the gearbox but the label usually stops it. Remove the label and have a go. Not all motors seem to fit, some do some don't. Never tried this one. I preffer 27 turn stock motors as they really shift, just watch the cooling as some quick motors get hot! On the 1st run, if the performance suddenly drops but the battery is still good, check for a thin wisp of smoke from the motor or a discoloured plastic motor cover. It is probably overheating! It happened to me.
  23. For me cutting an inch long section out of the side of my brand new Scorcher radio box to allow for a stick type pack about 6 years ago. It was my 1st ever RC car and the old radio box was smashed to pieces and i really wanted to run it... []
  24. Kyosho to me means about 5 old buggies but i have no idea what they really look like. There must be somebody who has a list and pictures of a majority of the old Kyoshos.
  25. i just wanted to use the forums at the moment. Been bored on the PC since TC went offline. Loads very fast, looks good at the moment.
