What is your favourite colour scheme for the scorcher out of the red+yellow or the Blue+white?
-
What parts have you custom built for your Scorcher? I have made a rear cage, side protectors, exhaust tip and roll bar. I want to make a carbon fibre chassis but i don't know where to get any carbon fibre! Basicaly i want to make (or buy) loads of custom parts for mine as i want one shelf queen one runner and one modified. Nearly got a new built scorcher now, got the runner but a lack of modified parts.

I have a few parts that need re-chroming. Where can i get this done and has anybody had it done. Any ideas on cost and how small an item can they do? Thanks.
-
yeah they are. Still the same tyres though.

What ever happened about the ball/gear differential that people were attempting to design/find/make? I know this discussion is fairly old but there may have been some development...

Lets not mention scratching your undertray...

Mosfets are the electronic black plastic things inside the ESC. The bit that goes on the top is a heatsink, i think its this that you mean. These cool the fets down but would have no effect o0n the motor speed really. I think the problem is just a wearing motor. This is what i had before. If its a sealed motor (does not come apart) I believe the brushes in the motor are worn in one direction. This causes the reverse direct to remain fairly new ( as you use the reverse less) but the forwards direction is wearing out. I am sorry that sounds a bit confusing and please correct me if im wrong anybody by all means. Thats what i was told by a fellow racer a while back. Basicaly try a new motor.

you mean your home page is not Tamiyaclub?????

I wonder how long this trend will continue for? Will we see the day of a 2000 pound scorcher??? The market must tail off after Christmas or nobody is going to be able to afford these cars. A sellers market to be sure. With this massive demand i will have to let one of my scorhcer go, could even be my now almost new built scorcher...
-
The best seller i have found by far is RCRICH. A fantastic guy. My order was for 460 pounds so he said he would give me all his spares as well. Charged about 8 pounds total for postage on 3 cars. Gave me about 14 Scorcher and Rider wheels and tyres ( lots are really good), 4 trees of new scorcher wheels, new spur gear, assorted metal parts a scorcher front and rear tyre box, rough rider body parts box, and a monster beetle box all free. This guy is a true credit to Ebay and i will try to deal with him again.

Ive been in the drink with my rough rider as well. To cut a long story short, mechanical speed control, out of range, run away car, 3ft deep pond...
Still worked but was slightly damp

How do you guys restore rubber parts in your scorchers set. Especially the switch covers and the tyres? I want to soften them up as some are perishing and i want to save my good ones. I use tyre black to give a nice finish to them once they are on my models.
-
yeah, have noticed diffent feel to some of the rear tyres. Never gave it any thought though before now. I don't run my scorcher tyres, i only use rough rider ones as i have a large number of these, they have all been the same.

It may just be me but when i use the brake fluid it makes the plastic bodies split. It is probably coincidence (spelling?) but three aout of 4 shells have had a small crack (about an inch) in the middle running front to back. I suspect it is where they have been stressed and removing the paint frees them up. Cracks are easily hidden with a little glue and sanding but i would hate to think its the fluid damaging these expensive scorcher bodies. Any input would be great.

ive got a manual but no scanner. I have a digital camera, will that do? I would love to make a contribution to the site.

"shlep" ??????? Whats that

Are/were there different strengths of torsion bar for the scorcher etc??? My last used car i bought was incredibly soft but all my others are very hard. I thought it couls just have been wear as the metal may have twisted back a bit through use. Any ideas???
-
Well i was saving my NIB circuit breaker for my new built scorcher but i suppose this is the best bet. Worth a try i suppose.

Not the right section to ask this. Should be moved to the for sale/ wanted section. I for one want to keep an organised clean board, as i am sure Chris would agree.

I get mine from halfords. Sold in 5 litre bottles. I filled up a plastic toolbox with the fluid, it took 10 litres to fill it.
Results vary from paint type. My 1st rough rider was very easy. The paint went rubbery within 2 days and it all slid off. My second rough rider was different. The paint started coming off in just over an hour but they are some areas that are have not stripped yet and its been 5 days now. just be paitient really and hope its the right type of paint!!!

Repro decals sound good if they are available to every one. Your choice of course as its your work. I would still like the screen saver though, another Chan lecture would be great. I know what you mean about thew xbox!!!

Why Sand Scorchers?

They are so detailed for a radio controlled car. You cant get anything like that now which is a shame. I love the engineering of the all metal chassis. I wish cars were still like that but sadly not. Not to mention the scorcher is the same age as i am
