    Robby is this a ploy by you to get every ones to sell there SRBs on ebay for cheap [?]

    I would becarefull what you promise as Netsmith will tell you , you will get slaughtered on here if its not true.

    Yes, you figured me out. I'm telling everyone this so they will post all of their kits on Ebay and i can buy them all up at top dollar. Come on. Be realistic. I have sent so many letters and emails to Tamiya (Japan)and have run across many people associated with Tamiya over the years. I feel that my contacts and info is strong enough that i sold off most of my vintage kits that are supposed to be in this re-issue line-up. I just figure that selling now for top dollar is better than trying to get top dollar when everyone and their mother is posting these kits after the official release announcements. Just because i choose to do this doesn't mean everyone else should. I'm not Mr.Tamiya, I'm just relaying info. I figured this info would be interesting to pass on being this is a Tamiya Enthusiast Club, but instead of getting thanks for sharing this news, all i have been getting is criticism. You are the 3rd and last person i am replying to today that felt the need to criticise, so from now on i will no longer pass on information about anything i hear. So far, every topic on this forum i read postings on, had people that just wanted to criticise and argue with each other, resulting in the Site Host asking people to calm down. I thought this club was going to be different from the typical Tamiya Forums, but i guess i was wrong.id="red">

    sounds fake to me too. because it says

    "According to Tamiya's Research and Developement Dept".

    I might believe this if it says " according to a factory worker from Tamiya"

    Also a question for Robby Hobby:

    If it is true, why don't you wait until the Super Champ re-release instead of bidding uS$800 on a current Super Champ auction? Please let me know because I am thinking about selling my NIB Super Champ too.

    id="quote">id="quote">

    To satisfy your curiosity... I bid $800 on a Super Champ because i just sold one NIB for $1,025. I buy cheap and sell. The only kits i have left NIB are re-issues and current issue. Check Ebay's completed auctions. Hope that helped.[:P]

    Sounds fake to me - why would Tamiya release limited amounts? Wheres the money in that - they're still a business after all? And why would anybody in their right mind sell their NIB models simply because they are being re-released? They would still be the originals and therefore worth much more anyway...

    id="quote">id="quote">

    Was the XR311 not a Limited Release? What was the purpose in that? Why is it people are paying $300 on average for that kit on Ebay? Please let me know.

  4. The Frog re-issue will have an ESC and a slight change in the decals. Some sponsors like K C Daylighter no longer allow Tamiya to use their name. The decals will also be pre-cut like Hornet and Grasshopper. The box art will reflect these changes.Also the rear shocks now have plastic caps instead of aluminum to prevent oil leakage. Otherwise it will be the same old crazy legs Frog we all remember. The u.S. price will be approx. $110, which is just about the same price it sold for in the mid 80's. You can't go wrong... an original Frog plus an ESC for the same price it was 20 years ago. I love it![:P]

  5. Be prepared! According to Tamiya's Research and Developement Dept. Rough Rider, Sand Scorcher, Super Champ and Bruiser are on the re-issue Horizon starting summer of 2006 to winter 2007. They are said to be released in original form and box art and will be a very limited amount geared toward collectors and enthusiasts. Prices will be pretty hefty too. If my resources weren't so strong, i wouldn't have sold all of these i had NIB over the last 2 months. Prices on originals will drop a bit , but will eventually go back up once the re-issues sell out. It is doubtful you will ever see 2nd re-issues of these kits ever again after that. It is going to be awesome to buy some of these at reasonable prices to have a few runners and NIB for the future.

    Check this image out from those coffee cans miniature...there are

    already 6 out of 11 re-released...would it be Tamiya's map of future

    re-re plan?

    Kinda dissapointed to Tamiya's creatitivity though...

    the source url http://www.tamiya.com/japan/info/gerogia/index.htm

    All 11 miniatures are available internationally. They can be found on Ebay. As for figuring out what the next re-issues are... You can count on seeing Rough rider, Sand Scorcher, Ford Ranger and Super Champ re-issues starting Summer of 2006 - Dec. 2007. In that time frame you should find a Bruiser re-issue too.

  7. LOL - Reminds me of Eddie Murphy's "RAW" standup video.........(this could be the collectors version):

    "we were so poor because of dad's car collecting - so poor that we ate eagle racing hornet tires - so poor that I didnt have a birthday cake like any normal kid - I had a strikler kit box - with shocks for candles"

    Cheers

    That was a good one Darryn. In this Hobby you need a sense of humor, without one you're not really enjoying this hobby.

    If I could get my brother off of his lazy butt to burn our old VHS tapes onto DVDs, I could post some of those "back in the day" races. I think most of them were either (first) with my Hornet and (second) with my RC10. My grandfather, whom got us into cars, was big in bringing his monstrous Video recorder to the races and taping us.

    I will give my bro a couple of weeks, then ask him to mail me the VHS tapes and get them burned myself.

    My only request if I do post the movies, no remarks about my attire. It had to be 20 some years ago...... NO SA COMMENTS DARREN!!!!!! LOL! [;)]

    Darren,

    if the tapes are NTSC you can send them to me and i will bring them to the studio to have the picture and sound enhanced and transfer them to DVD for you free of charge.

  9. Ahhhh! The Good old Days of R/C racing. The early to mid 80's to me was the most exciting times ever in R/C history. I'm in the NYC area and during the early 80's i used to race offroad at a local hobby shop's backyard. It wasn't much of a track, but it was the feeling you got being there with dozens of kids and adults just getting into the hobby. Everyone was so confused with alot of things. It was total mayhem trying to figure out that your car just flew off the track or caused a pile-up because someone with the same frequency turned on their transmitter or looking at people's new inventions to try and better their car. There were guys who modified motors themselves,guys who made parts they thought would never break,guys who added rechargeable cells to get longer running time and found out the weight difference made the car slower and running time the same anyway. It was great all around. there was always someone showing off their wild design or one of Tamiy'a newest kits. Watching Rough Riders,Sand Scorchers, Super Champs, Frogs Hornets, wild willys, and even stock Grasshoppers run around that truck was the best times of my life. It was a feeling in the air that i know i will never feel again, but will keep locked up inside forever. [:)]

  10. I have been a Tamiya Enthusiast for over 25 years now and have a wonderful wife and 3 starving children. I know i should give up some of this hobby or all of it to feed them, but somehow we always manage to survive eating M&Ms and drinking water, so i will never give it up.

    I hope nobody took any of that seriously. I would never feed my family M&Ms when they clearly love Reeses Pieces [}:)]

    Hope that little joke cheered up some of you.

    Dont worry you'll be back, You'll probably walk past your LHS see and see a sand scorcher Re-release in the window and just out of curiousity you will purchase it, and the whole cycle starts again[;)]

    Till then.

    I agree with MadMat 100%. I have been on and off with this Hobby for over 25 years now and theres always something to spark that old habit/hobby. Whether it's passing up a hobby shop with a re-issue in the window or seeing a neighborhood kid driving an r/c vehicle. Somehow you always wind up coming back for more. Tamiya owns our hearts from childhood 'til death. Theres no turning back! Good luck Anyway.

    id="quote">id="quote">

    Not sure which your talking about, but i know the original was an all silver can with the white or black end on it. Also had the yellow and green wires with bullet connectors.

  13. People say there is a difference in the newer and older 540 motors and i've had all in the same cars with the same setup and see no difference. If your going for authenticity, then you will need the white end or black end motor. It originally came with both versions over the years of production. Hope this helps.

    hi

    got a big box full of tamiya parts delivered today and in there is a boomerang chassis and other boomerang parts

    i like the look of the boomer but now im thinking do i build one ?

    the price of the parts doesnt realy bother me as i build most of my cars from parts or end up replacing most of the parts to get them how i like them but having never owned one just wondered how do they handle are there fast good on corners break easily etc i know there vintage and wont handle like a modern buggy but i like the look and thoght id ask what there like before building one and being dissapointed

    Hi Pete,

    the Bommerang was a mid-class car, but handled very nicely offroad. I say if ya have the parts to build one, then do it and you'll have alot of fun offroad or in snow with it. most people aren't happy with a stock 540, but it still handles nice and has great running time with one. Of course, i mean with ball bearings too. Hope this helped.

    cheers

    Sorry Steve, but i've never sold any promos at all before. I think you are referring to the guy Robby something who has his own website etc. These don't have any watermarks or logos on the picture. I could put one in, but i don't care if people want to make copies etc. I'm going through this just to help fellow enthusiasts be able to afford them at very reasonable prices or for trade to keep the bootleggers from selling these at ridiculous prices. I think i will ask about $10- $15 for the entire 80's set. Even though i know i could watermark them and sell them for literaly hundreds of dollars once at a time on ebay til the bootleggers start copying them, i never will. This is purely to help fellow enthusiasts get to see what all of these vintage kits were like in action.

    Sounds like a good idea, but i'm trying to keep it to just the promo videos to keep the best quality possible. I know i can make a seperate disk, but i am so short for time already with this project. I appreciate your idea though. Thanx.

  17. Hi Friends. I have almost completed the entire 1980's Tamiya Promo DVD's and i just need the following video promos: Road Wizard, Super Shot, Hot Shot II, Vanessa's Lunch Box, Lotus Honda, Williams Honda and Midnight Pumpkin.

    If anyone can help with finding these videos in decent quality, i am more than willing to pay a fair price or trade. These are the only ones needed to complete the entire 1980's Tamiya Promo DVD's. I have been using a friends video studio to enhance the picture quality and sound for all of these video transfers and they are coming out great. So the sooner i find the rest of these videos, is the sooner i can start selling and trading with all interested in seeing the ultimate in Vintage Tamiya. Thanks for looking and any help you might be able to provide.

  18. Yes, unfortunately these re-issues will drastically bring down the value of our original kits, but i think it is well worth that risk just for us to relive the Good old days of the 80's at an affordable price and give a chance to some of the younger Tamiya Enthusiasts to see what it was like to drive these classic kits and how much technology has changed.

    I have been selling off all of my original NIB kits and parts on Ebay during the last couple of months knowing that Tamiya plans to re-issue most of these wonderful classics. By doing this now, i am getting top dollar and won't have to compete with the dozens of other collectors who will be scrambling to get rid of their's as prices diminish from the official announcements of the re-issues by Tamiya.

    We have to keep in mind too that most of the re-issues are being made in limited amounts and once sold out will also become collectors kits. So far i have purchased atleast 5 - 10 of each re-issue starting with the XR311 and just one year later the XR311's are selling on Ebay at more than double the purchase price. So, these are sure to hold their value and alot more in the future. Chances of Tamiya ever re-issuing these a second (3rd time) is very doubtful. By that time (another 20 + years), there will no longer be interest in them.

    No matter what happens, i think it is great in every way that i will be able to buy a bunch of these classics at affordable prices and have one or two to drive and a couple to leave NIB for future plans.

  19. Hello,

    i can tell you first hand that Tamiya's research Dept. watches this site, Ebay and many other Tamiya Enthusiast related sites. I have submitted numerous emails and letters to Tamiya about re-issues of these vintage kits and re-releasing the Metal Buggies like Sand Scorcher, Rough Rider, Super Champ and the Tranny Trucks. until recently Tamiya's reply was always "We will take your suggestions into consideration". Now their latest reply said "All of these kits are on our re-release Horizon for 2006 - 2007". So keep supporting these sites, forums and email Tamiya once in a while about re-issuing your favorite kits and it will eventually happen.

  20. I live in the u.S. and here or the u.K. it would be better pricewise to purchase an extra kit instead of buying spare parts which would ad up close to the price of another kit. I had many of them back in the 80's and the most common parts to break were definitley the front shock towers as someone else mentioned and the front bumper. Another alternative is to go on ebay and buy a new old stock Parma aluminum front shock tower kit which was almost unbreakable and the Proline replacement bumper which was much stronger than the original and had good spring action to bounce the car off of stuff instead of letting the chassy take most of the impact. You can periodically find these parts cheap on ebay and it would be much cheaper than buying a whole extra kit.

    Hope this info helps and good luck with getting your son started in one of the most exciting and educational hobbies a kid can have.
