  1. greetings every1. wanted to touch on somethin that you folks prolly have already debated many times... ...i want a piece of my childhood in my life, a solid 10-15-20yrs removed from some of it. tamiya r/c cars were a big piece of the puzzle. i've also wanted to repair 2 cars that have sat outta commission for 12-15yrs (thundershot and my brother's big brute). i see now that i've been racing gas for the last yr after 8yrs away that tamiya has released remakes of old models (hornet, GH, 'Box etc). i dont know what tamiya collection market there is, or if its only for stuff NIB...but will that change my line of thinking on this? i want to have somethin i can sit on a shelf or in case and admire, show to future generations (kids perhaps), and occasionally run around for fun. using esc's and new narrow band radio equip for simplicity sake (no offense mr resistor). u'd think that'd lead me to a remake or perhaps if available, a straight running original correct? will these remakes force a parts market that will help the originals out w/hard to find pieces? if i could compare this to somethin, lets take classic or muscle cars. i'd like a mostly original car thats a 'driver' as they like to call it. so i'm guessin i should look for a decent original or get a remake (if app.) correct? as of right now, vintage wise. i have the 'shot and the big brute (brothers). the shot belongs actually to a real close friend of my fathers'; the man who got me into r/c when i was 8 and helped me get my 1st car (blackfoot-more later). he lent it to me for a exhibition race in 1992 i believe (shot was already 5yrs old at that pt). it was a nice way to get into 4wd. the car broke in practice, an arm carrier and propeller joint. i found the carrier a mth later, but not the joint. 1992, no ebay, no internet (well it was a novelty), no1 stockin parts on it anymore. so it sat in a box for a long time, and i occasionally see it there and get mad. he never asked for it back but i'm determined to fix it and enjoy returnin it. i finally picked up a joint last yr from a parts car on ebay. i put those on and now i await a couple pieces that will complete the puzzle for the car. i also have a boomerang, very nice and very lightly used. also very 'stock'. my bro's brute, i need some help. steering servo mount blocks, saver/horn w/pin, and motor mount parts, along w/body posts and battery holders are needed. that truck has not been run since 1990. and i really would like to have it done for him as a xmas present this yr. any help there would be appreciated. i have a couple cars of interest to me that i'd like to pick up. whether original or remake. a supershot (or hotshot), beetle, fox, my own Tshot, and perhaps a 'Pumpkin. the scorchers, holidays, rangers, brats etc were a lil before my time thus i dont take as much interest i guess. but 1st and foremost, i'd like nothing more than have the excuse on a nice lazy afternoon day to go... ...stompin around. many of us started on that truck and boy was it fun. any help there would be appreciated. thoughts of JG, twisters, CRP, and thorpe ring a bell somehow thank you all for your time and comments, and for having this great reference site. i look forward to discussing these great icons of fun. -Ryan
