I don't want to seem pernickity but is this entirely fair on those people who got their entries in before the announced closing date?
And yeah, to be honest, I am talking about myself. Checked the website on the 20th and realised the closing date was end of 21st, as I knew I wouldn't have time to do it on the 21st I rushed out and took my shot in fading daylight, wasn't completely happy with it but as it was my last chance I posted it.
Since then the "closing date" has been and gone and I have seen at least 3 more entries added after it.
I understand that my having to rush to meet the deadline was my own doing, and that is fine, but if an extended deadline had been announced then that announcement would have been beneficial to me
At the end of the day I can't see why the boss going AWOL changes the rules, rules are rules and the deadline is clearly stated (it is still stated as the 21st as I type). I don't mean to be malicious to any other entrant but any entries added after 21st really shouldn't be elligible.
I did the same. Had it in my head the closing date was the 23rd so wasn't rushing, then checked the competition on the 21st in work and noticed it closed that day so had to rush home and get something done other than what I had planned to do.

I had forgotten about Demonic designs. They have somme really smart ones on there, but price a bit high for me at teh moment, it may have to wait. In the mean time I have designed one myself, so just looking for the best material to make it out of. I may even go for Carbon Fibre as I have a client through work that said they would do it for me, but I just need to check the cost with them, the car has already cost me a fortune! LOL!

I used a Superstock TZ in mine as its a good all rounder with good Torque and lasts a long time. I love my Manta Ray, its a great car! Its really tough, Ive thrown it around so much!
Check out this;
http://home19.inet.tele.dk/martinjordt/res...tors/motors.htm
I use it a lot when looking for motors. Ive also got Dyna Storm special, which is nice and fast, but I prefer running the TZ as it seems to have a lot more torque and doesnt run out the battery as quick.

Cheers for that, I am thinking of maybe getting one made or making it myself, I just need to check which is the cheaper option (And if I can be bothered! LOL!)

Are you saying us women talk alot????????
Shame these nothing for my df03
Sorry for the generalisation Helen, I will consider myself told off, its just the women I know do! ;-) But Im on there now and she doesnt seem to working today.
There isnt a huge amount for Tamiya cars, but its been handy for bits and pieces like Ball joints, O rings etc. And its helped out with some HPI bits for my Twin Detonator project.

Hi All,
I am looking for a twin motor chassis for my Twin Detonator project and was wandering if anyone knew where I can get my hands on one or on some CAD/scale drawings that I can get one made with.
Cheers,
Andy

Hi,
I have recently used Liquid RC for a few transactions and I was very very impressed.
Most items I bought were cheaper than on other RC sites and with the 99cent postage (even to UK!), you just cant grumble!
I ordered items twice, first time as a bit of a test, and both times the items arrived within the week that I had ordered them.
However I would suggest muting your computer because the woman on the site does not shut up! But she does watch what your doing. Its a bit like having the Mrs on the site! LOL!
Regards,
Andy

I had porblems with the TEU101 esc. I was running what I thought to be a 23T motor which turned out to be a 21T and it overheated a lot to the point of only short runs would mean it would cut out. Eventually some of the wires burnt through. I would highly recommend the Mtroniks esc's, they run well, have lots of features and have a good price. I use mine in all my cars and just swap it about so you may as well get one that goes to 11T or even no limit for if you want to get faster motors, even the one I split for twin motors runs perfectly with no overheating.

The only ting is, when I see a sign saying "Do Not eat" I have an even bigger urge to taste it! LOL! Same as the bit in the chippy that keeps the fish hot having the sign "HOT, Do Not Touch", there is always the temptation to touch it just to check.....hence I have no fingerprint on my index finger LOL ;-)

More like pushing your speed controller I would say. What speed controller are you using, if its electronic, is it suitable for 20T motors? Ive had an 11T in my Blackfoot before now, firstly with an MSC which wasnt suitable at all and I had to keep resting it due to the heat in resistor, motor and battery (but it was nice to warm the hands on a cold day ;-) ), then with an ESC (Mtronics Viper Tempo 11) that went to 11T and that was fine.

Hold onto your hats guys............. I have a Mitsubishi Carisma 16v 1.8i, its like a baby Evo! LOL! Joking, although it is a pretty good car for running around in and it was free off my Dad when he got his Passat. He only gave it me so I cant ask to lend the Passat, its a V6 TDi that could do with a good running! LOL!
I also have a 1973 VW Beetle 1300 in the garage in a bad way. I plan to restire her this year (although I have little knowledge really on car restoration, just going to see what I can do), I hope I do, just hoping she isnt too far gone.

When I got my Twin Det it just came with the stock motors which were so so poor! So as I am very much against MSC's I wanted to get a nice ESC in it. At the time I couldnt afford to get a twin motor ESC, so I found this on tamiyaclub;
http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...93&sid=2920
and gave it a try. I had just bought an Mtoniks Tempo 11, so my RV15 was kinda going spare so I used that and it worked very well. I ran it with a Tamiya Super Stock TZ in the back (I love this motor) and a 21T Fireball in the front and I was impressed. I checked it quite a lot during running and I had no overheating, no decrease in battery life and a good speed. However it isnt enough. I am now looking at beefing up the Twin Det, so I have invested in a Novak EVX and two 600 motors;
http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/item...VDC_MOTOR_.html I have only tested it a little at present as I need a new chassis so I can hold the twin batteries. But I did have a go with Zipping the batteries etc on the original chassis and running it in the back street and at first appearances, I have a pretty good system! He He! Main problem however was the rims spinning in the tyres. So my next job is new chassis that I am designing, fit the HPI arms I have bought and get some nice rims and tyres, oh and some decent suspension. Im just chipping away at it at the moment. Cant wait to get it done though. LOL.
Have fun with your Twin Det!

Modified Tamiya Twin Detonator Project
in Off-Site sales plugs, tips & gossip - Including eBay, Gumtree etc.
Posted
This auction is for a Modified Tamiya Twin Detonator Project
This is an unfinished project of mine, but to be honest it shouldn’t take much more work to complete as all major changes have been made and parts bought. It is with great regret that I am selling this car, but these days time is against me.
The modifications I have made are as follows;
Traxxas Novak EVX ESC – Has been used but in perfect condition. Works perfectly. Runs with twin motor and up to 14.4V battery pack, I used two 7.2 battery packs on it.
2 Mabuchi #RS-555PH motors – Brand new and only ever been used when testing. I have soldered the ESC directly to the motors so that the best performance is given. They have excellent speed and torque
Gearboxes have been fully stripped, cleaned and ball bearings fitted. All gears are in perfect condition.
New Extended HPI arms fitted front and rear with strong dog bones fitted in the rear. All Ball cups etc are new and there are also some spare ones along with steering rods and blue body clips.
New HPI front and rear axles.
The Twin Detonator itself is in excellent condition. The chassis is strong with no damage and the shell is in good shape. I have started to cut out lights for the shell, but have not completed fitting any. All original parts, seen in the photo, will come with the car so it will be easy to put back to normal if needed. Also comes with a nice clean manual.
