  1. You should be able to use pretty much any standard type servo but be certain of the positive/negative/signal wires. They are not always in the same order as Futaba's. Easily fixed though with some bifocals, and a tiny screw driver to switch the wires. There are other brands which would be just fine for bashing the rc's around. Check out a FlySky GT3B. This will allow up to 10 models. Receivers are cheap for this as well (around $10). These can also use any standard sized servos.
  2. Decided to run a Clod on a humid, evening run. Dropped a 2s lipo in it, became slightly irritated because transmitter batteries were dead (20 minutes trying to find some charged ones), then ran the beast for about 20 minutes before realizing the wheel nuts on all four wheels had come loose. I initially couldn't figure out why I took out one of these bouncy chunkies, but realized they are actually a lot of fun. (sounds like a desperate date, doesn't it?)
  3. I would love a re-release. I'd probably buy two. One for build, one forever boxed. I never realized you can pull in the discontinued kits on the site. I was excited for a few minutes but I can't see them doing a re-release. https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/110-trucks/rc-toyota-4x4-pickup-kit/
  4. Not Tamiya BUT I finally finished my Tekno MT410. I've been wanting to build something a little less plastic like and this isn't like anything I've built since probably a Losi kit or Associated kit. The build was glorious. Great instructions, great fit, great feel . I'm hoping the running is great too.
  5. Just an extra addition. I mentioned in some thread here about my late step father-in-laws rc collection and how his kids finally picked the items up about 4-5 years later. I found a few parts they had no interest in but ran across a couple Parma Hemi Coupes that I saved from my mother-in-laws home after a tree went through the house. Sitting in a wet box in the wet basement. They are dusty and wreak of cig smoke, but I’ll make this a future cleanup project. Both have different chassis’ so I’ll need to do some research.
  6. I’ve been horribly busy this year and have barely touched anything rc. Every time I felt like it was the right time to mess with rc, something happened. Took two weeks of vacation, one at the beach and the other at home. While at the beach, I ordered a Tekno MT410. Been wanting one for a while and the price has dropped nicely. Hope to start the build in a few days. Cleaned up my rc area in the garage today. Absolute pit. While cleaning, ran across a brand new Ramtech Trophy Truck body for my HPI Baja, tucked upside down on the garage fridge holding other “to do” bodies. Tore into it and got it mounted. Now just need to buy what may end up being 4 cans of paint. Just have to decide on colors.
  7. I love the grey and blue. Wish it had bearings or a couple of better motors. But, with a Tower coupon though, you can knock that price down to a regular price Clod.
  8. Did everything as above, removed one red wire from one esc receiver plug. Test run in the driveway was full of wheelies. Once the snow melts and the road dries up, I’ll take it out for some runs.
  9. I've never hooked up two ESCs to an RC before (I've done parallel battery connectors but not the ESC). I am using a single pack. Both battery connectors from the ESC will connect to a single battery connector (+ to + and - to -). Correct? I have a Y harness for the receiver so both receiver plugs can connect. Will there be any issue with too much power going to the receiver from two ESCs? I just want to be certain that I'm thinking this through before I hose something up. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks
  10. That's my thought as well, but I'm hoping they are going to do better than anything petg or pla printed. I appreciate that offer of the 25mms. I noticed this morning that there is a shipment coming from Florida originating from JConcepts hometown. It's due out on Tuesday! I also have that third set of wheels coming from Amazon today (now i'm thinking about another set since if that adapter actually shipped). I'll be excited to get the brushless motors installed this weekend. Do you glue your tires to the rims?
  11. Someone on Thingiverse has the 25mm hub for printing, so I went ahead and printed a couple nylon ones. Seem to fit fine (CPE should take note), so once I feel like hurting my hand with all the cap screws and assembly, I'll snap a pic of it. Here are the nylon ones:
  12. AH GEEZ, don't tell me that!! I was hoping mine was just a fluke with parts missing. (and I pray I don' t have a second surgery on the same shoulder, I feel for your dad) Even a small protest is a protest nonetheless. I'll pop up my half installed wheel/tire pic later today. I ended up getting the JCon Golden Years MT tires. Not much of a look really, but I love the Clod tires and wanted something that looked similar.
  13. This project has been a work in progress the last year. At the beginning of the thread I was set to have surgery. I have pretty much recovered from surgery for calcific tendinitis/rotator cuff repair (thanks to the calcification). Long, frustrating recovery. So, the truck has been finished for quite some time. The 540's are wimpy and the Clod tires/wheels rubbed when steering (terrible cpe extenders failed), so I ended up getting some JConcepts Tribute rims last month using the included 25mm extender. They fit nicely. I have a couple of Onyx 4000kv brushless systems to put in it now too. This is the part where I'm going to ******* and moan about Tower and JConcepts. 1) I was mounting the very last wheel when I realized in my wheel pack, I was given 3 medium extenders, 2 short extenders and 1 long extender. (made and packed in China) 2) I contacted JConcepts outright over a week ago. They said they would send out the 25mm extender. Great. I've been patient, I can wait a bit longer. 3) A week has gone by and I usually can see what is being shipped by USPS informed delivery, UPS, or FedEx. Nothing showing up at all. 4) I email Tower asking them what they may be able to do. response: "contact JConcepts" 5) I contact JConcepts again. Asking about the extender again. They don't show me having any sort of shipment at all. They take my info again. Been a couple days, I still see nothing and email Tower again. They pretty much tell me it's my problem with JConcepts, they are a separate company. 6) I said screw it and ordered another wheel set from Amazon, knowing I'll have it in the time for the weekend. (if anything is wrong with what I receive from Amazon, at least I can send it back) I'm at the end of my rope with all the delayed shipments, the lazy companies, the *******-poor service, and me being told I need to be patient due to circumstances beyond everyone's control. Once I get all the above squared away, I hope to be able to run the darn thing.
  14. Same issue with ours. Ended up using gorilla tape for a while. I fInally replaced it with the Suzuki body which has it's own issues due to the end over ends.
  15. I was going to throw away a broken Blackfoot body from an eBay buy but chopped off the bent roof and printed a 3D redneck nylon roll cage (first used petg but that broke after a few rolls). I keep the junk bodies. I can’t recall ever tossing one. (Except for some polycarbonate bodies that were at the point of no longer mountable)
  16. Mine didn't. I've been searching for the blue head driver for the Ford F-150 XLT. I received the message below which sounded reasonable. Not until I received pics of a brand new kit did I think something was up. I just kindly told him I wouldn't have him break up a kit for a little blue head and told him that he could get more off ebay for the whole kit. Never heard anything back from him. Hello I have the driver head and steering wheel let me know if you're interested in purchasing.
  17. I wonder if you all received the same email address of this guy- tompowell***@gmail?
  18. I was wondering about that too, he contacted me a couple weeks ago. Mine was about a brand new Ford F150 XLT he has. I declined it, thinking it was probably BS.
  19. Finally got my JConcepts Golden Years MT tires and wheels and a few other miscellaneous parts for my Clod Tremor Pro.
  20. I've been trying to checkout for the last hour and finally made it to the end only to see in small letters (backorder qty 1) that 90% of the stuff IN my cart is on backorder. Canceled. Frustrating. I just noticed this. I had a cart with items in it (haven't visited in a while). Added some stuff, realized upon checkout that items in my cart are on out of stock/backorder. You cannot add an item that is not in stock to your wish list, which explains why I had a cart full of stuff that isn't on my wish list.
  21. My Thunder Tech Clod tires rub a bit when steering, so I tried out the CPE wideners. They suck, to put it bluntly, 3d printed junk. I wished I had picked up the Thunder Tech delrin ones (they have gone up from 35 to 45), but after already being out $35 to CPE, I'm going the new wheel/tire route. I was hoping to go cheap with some Tribute wheels and use the Clod tires, but since that won't work, I'll just go with some of their tires too. I can get their tires/tribute wheels through Tower for about 115, and can use a coupon too.
  22. Do these wheels make the stance wider than stock? I tried the CPE wideners and they were terrible.
