  1. I like this, and I love my current LMT. I can't see shelling out $599 for it ($399 I'd consider it). Here's an overpriced Losi new release: https://www.losi.com/product/1-10-rzr-rey-4wd-brushless-rtr-polaris/LOS03029T1.html. Can be yours for $619. And people make fun of Tamiya's goofy rc's....
  2. Found it- 70$ isn’t too bad for a finished body. Not certain on the shipping though.
  3. I just traced it with a thin tipped and cut with a sharp exacto! Looks SO much better! Thank you for pointing that out! Took it out for a run in 35mph wind gusts. A bit chilly but that thing drives better than I could have imagined! Can’t wait until it warms up Sunday and Monday.
  4. Yeah, "Cut urethane bumper according to body". Oh good. Something else to chop up
  5. I'm supposed to cut the foam? Cripe. I'll check it out. That's probably the issue.
  6. That’s it. I’m done with this thing. It was a Christmas project that just dragged on. Not pleased with the mounting of the body. Front wheel wells should be lined up better, holes were drilled dead on and it still looks off. Snipped the wells a little bit and now just want to go run it. As for the decals, I don’t want to do anything like these again. 🥵. I wish they sold these bodies pre-finished!
  7. You aren’t looking close enough! I’m hoping to finish it up this weekend. The other side that hasn’t been photographed is atrocious.
  8. If you are going to not include an ESC, don't include the motor I won't use anyway and knock another 8 dollars off the kit. Less weight, less material, less of a boring 540 motor collection.
  9. I think it’s universal to call them decals whether applied with water or they have an adhesive, but forgive me if I continue to call them decals. 😀 These things are a pain. Getting close to the end and nowhere near perfect. Like @droidy said, it should look great while you drive it. The heat gun and water have helped immensely though.
  10. I used a fresh xacto blade (50+ year old eyes suck), results:
  11. Quick question, the decal overlapped the wheel well so I trimmed a bit of it down and stuck around to the other side. Is a sharp exacto the best way to deal with that? I’m betting when the tire rubs, it’ll tear the heck out of that decal. Two decals down, Lord knows how many are left. The soapy water and a heat gun have worked wonders so far. Not perfect but it is working better than no air and no soapy water! All the suggestions have been great!
  12. Good eye! I looked at the page multiple times and didn’t even notice.
  13. I just began with decal 1. Big decal and the body curve is ticking me off. Any tips on getting the decals to fit around the curves? Heat gun?
  14. Now I'm excited for 2023. This one, Boomerang and the Nova Fox. I'd like to say my last three I'll purchase, but I don't believe myself.
  15. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2839343 Funny you asked, I just posted a "make" pic of it out there a few minutes ago. For something that fit so well, I can't believe the guy that created it doesn't have any feedback on it. It's been posted out there for almost 5 years. I didn't even think of using Pearl White. I'll check Amazon and see if they happen to have it. I'm still waiting for the shipment from Tower to arrive.
  16. Finished up the Lancia XV-01 build. I love the chassis. Now for paint...of course, no one has any Tamiya white spray in stock, so I was left ordering Duratrax white, which should be fine. After the paint, those decals...I'm hoping I have fun doing them. 3d printed a replacement cover for the ESC/receiver stock one. My brushless ESC is too tall for the original.
  17. I finally got one of them cleaned up. Buffed the body with Novus #2, took apart the chassis and cleaned it up really well (tooth pick, kleenex, and qtips for the engine). It's missing a couple parts on the Hemi, but oh well. The mother-in-law's hot water heater is on its last leg, so I think I'll just sell them off to put towards that sometime this spring. I can't imagine ever doing anything with these any way.The asphalt would tear them up and one curb hit would destroy that Hemi. The black one is a bit more of a mess. The engine is loose, and some of it has come unglued. I may start on that one today.
  18. I was talking to a friend of mine last week about some old Schumacher square block off road tires we would us on our RC10s and JRX2s to use on the asphalt. These things were phenomenal tires, hard rubber, gripped really well, and never seemed to wear out as quickly as the pro-lines. I started looking around again, and found these: https://www.racing-cars.com/wheels-tyres/off-road-tyres/block-rear-tyres-blue-cat-pr-t692?returnurl=%2fsearch%3fq%3dblock%2bblue Does anyone know if these are similar to the ones that were around 30+ years ago? (maybe no one has any recollection of tires that far back )They look like they are the same. I may just order some when they are back in stock.
  19. My display unit! . Took me months of searching for a working "cheap" one.
  20. Tired of waiting on one, found a great deal from a seller in Japan. Radio wasn't part of the purchase though.
  21. For such a sweet project, you rent a room if you have to!
  22. Looks great! The challenge now will be to locate the parts you need for repair/replacement if the donor car doesn't have it. I'd start with a good cleaning and checking out all the plastic parts after for cracks, wear, etc. I don't know a lot about them other than I do know I've always wanted one. A non-Tamiya body can be sourced from team blue groove (along with the interior and wing): https://teambluegroove.com/collections/tamiya/products/tbg-porsche-959-body-fits-hpi-cup-racer-switch Reproduction decals from mciracing: https://mciracing.ca/products/1-12th-tam-58059-porsche-959-decals
