The re-release of something with the frog style chassis (Blackfoot, Monster Beetle, Mudblaster etc.) would make alot of sense right now being the chassis is still in production and the garbage half shafts were replaced with dogbones. I personally would love to see the Beetle being it is my fav out of the frog type chassis, but seeing any of them re-re would be awesome. Who knows what will be next on Tamiya's re-re list being US sales are horrible in the R/C import market right now due to insanely high gas prices. Has anyone else noticed how Tamiya kit prices at T. H. and other big R/C delaers in the US have gone up by atleast $15 - $20 per kit because of this recession?

I think they are just for cosmetics to keep the original look going. The ESC FET idea would be awesome.

First (nearly) $1000 Top Force Evo

That was me. I bid over $900, but it doesn't mean I paid![] Just kidding, it wasn't me, but I recall one being sold for approx. $1200 about a year ago. -
$2,850 Mounty - some kind of record?
Scorcher Champ replied to gordb's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Well, actually their is a huge collector/millionaire named Cindy Baker who probably has the largest NIB R/C collection in the world. She supposedly has atleast two of every Tamiya to date NIB all in mint condition. It must be true as I have heard about on and off for over 12 years now through the biggest collectors out there. According to a gent I sold some NIB kits to years ago, they wound up in her hands for a price he couldn't refuse. I wonder if shes lookin for a husband.[*-)] -

Look at me for example... I am a Billionaire and I prefer to collect these R/C cars. Yeah! Right![] -
The Japanese writing says they are hop-ups and the model is demonstrating how with the aluminum hex hubs you can mount DF wheels and similar style wheels. It also mentions that all of these kits purchased should immediately be mailed/forwarded to me for a quality check.[] If I find they are not suitable for modern day R/C use, I will just keep them to avoid Tamiya getting a bad rep.[]

Markellie, sorry, that message was meant for another person who knows who they are. If you read the previous messages, you will see who I am referring to. Sorry, for the misunderstanding.

In no way at all is it wrong to do what you enjoy. Nobody including some jealous people on this thread have the brains or the right to determine anyone who has common sense to know moisture/humidity cause rust/corrosion spends too much time analyzing the hobby they enjoy and have no relationship or significant other in their life. That is purely a nieve person and from my educated guess is probably some unhappy teen or adult with a teen mentality who could not afford the finer parts of this hobby so utilizes their time to criticize others with their so called important time. Overall, this site and all related materials are for the sole purpose of discussing, exchanging and exhibiting each other's proud enjoyment of this great hobby. But unfortunately for some they find pleasure in trying to ruin other's people's happiness with their precious time instead of being with their significant other. So where are the real losers?

I'll clear this whole matter up for all of you right now. First off, this kit was sold about 1 1/2 years ago on ebay in the same condition with same tear spots and MRC catalog underneath the box. The first big clue that this is a post shrink wrapped kit is that the MRC sticker has wear to it. Every one of my vintage same era kits have not one bit of wear to MRC sticker if still covered by the shrink wrap. Second, if you magnify the pic you notice a couple of the staples have rust/corrosion to them. This will only happen from being handled by human hands or high moisture storage which would have also caused significant warping of the box. The original staples were copper and corroded quickly after salt from human hands made contact with them. There were factory shrink wrapped MRC Scorcher kits when they were released as I had one myself a million years ago, so the no shrink wrap rumors are false in the USA. Another indication of this being a post shrink wrap is that no MRC kits were distibuted with the catalog on the bottom outside of the box. This was purely done for effect. All MRC catalogs/brochures were placed inside of the box. Last but not least, the box top bottom edges will not split into layers where the shrink wrap is still intact or undamaged. So basically the person who bought this kit, if actually exsists and plans to actually pay this amount is getting themself a very good condition box that hopefully will have the entire original contents atleast.
