Acoms handset for Hilux.. Technical question..
Brooklands 280 replied to gozone's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Hi. Ive found (by accident) that acoms and hitec servos work in oppisite directions if that helps. it sorted the front and rear brake issues on one of my FG models without having to resort to a 3 channel radio. -
Hi mike........ I used to have a brooklands 280 till the rust killed it (they were by far the WORST capri for rusting you will ever find).... it had been patched so many times it was rotten and i broke and sold it for parts. Brought another recently but sadly a breaker, had mint interior and wheels which will fetch top dollar in the capri world. Up untill a few years back had a mag featured 3.1 X pack in moonstone blue (but looked grey to me), featured classic ford march 98, bloke came all the way from scotland to buy it, awesome awesome car with all the pukka early parts, recaro fishnets, modded essex, LSD etc etc and i do regret selling. Had loads of 2.8 injectors/specials. Then the mortgage, wife and kids came so im building a modded laser now, i just love the pinto engines. yes, i had mk2 mexicos/RS2Ks when they were affordable, but not any more.

What does everyone reckon to these drift cars?
Brooklands 280 replied to Brooklands 280's topic in General discussions
My patio is big enough for most ellectrics, will make a nice oval curcuit. I had the old MO3 mini years ago, top fun, was fun with the understeer and ate front tyres... it was faster than my TL01 cosworth at the time too. il leave drifters then for now. did think about 3-4 mardave V12s for a racing/drinking BBQ evening with friends but the outlay on batteries and radio gear cant be justified really. -
ive fitted an FR32 long duration camshaft and long pad followers if at makes a difference. Despirate to fire this engine up as nextdoors kid has a drum-kit in the garage and plays them all day till 10.30 pm sometimes...... im ready to get revenge by running in my camshaft at 2500rpm for 20 mins through a single box ashley system and manifold!! thanks in advance.

havent tried one myself, but thinking of getting on to run on my new patio in summer.. Are they any good?

Thanks for all the advice chaps. hopefully soon will have a nice beach runner for my hols. just trying to figure out how to make and mount a rear cage and stinger...

Anyone know what the x-box 360 is like?
Brooklands 280 replied to bangstick's topic in Anything not RC related goes here
Not sure on the 360 but i can defo recomend a 280, power, torque and look, all come with cheap classic insurance!!! the only downside is the fuel consumption, but its a small price to pay for the grin factor! -
Im building a frorcher project for my son to run on the beach on holiday. il be mounting a lexan scorcher body to a frog fitted with padlatraks on the rear. any tips for mounting the body? anyone over done this, any tips etc etc. Also whats the best gearing to use on the frog fitted with a 15 double? should i use the lower gears? Thanks in advance.

First thing, if in doubt change the plug, it may spark when out but under compression its a different story. When was the engine last re ringed, ive done all mine as a matter of course after 3 hours, then evey six thereafter (i take it that its a G230)... if youve done over 5 hours on the existing origional ring then its time for a change. Another thing is to try a hotter or colder plug. I take it you know not to leave these engines ticking over for more than 30 seconds or so, absolutelly the worst thing for a zenoah, the ring and plug can be harmed, these engines thrive on being thrashed, more fuel=more oil.. hopefully its something as simple as a fouled plug, if you do a lot of parking lot driving in small areas you will go through a few plugs, so best get a box of 10, not dear around 21 quid my last box. Hope that helps, i upgraded to cheap ngk plugs and have has little problems compared the the supplied plugs, i can get the current part number for you if needed, you can buy them from lawnmower?strimmer repair shops much cheaper than your LHS.

my son is planning to put together an RC K9 as a schooll project, should be pretty easy as he will build the body and we will fit it to my schumacher fusion 21.... Should be good for around 40 mph when done.... a nitro powered K9, but..... Has anyone got any idea where i can get reference pictures, dimensions etc etc?

just guaging interest in this really. as above with sportline chassis. Vented discs allround. 23cc G230 engine (petrol not nitro). Tuned pipe. K&N. Wide offset silver BBS wheels with krono tyres (unused) chassis has seen little use, hardly any scratches underneath, engine re ringed after having 3 gallons through it, cars had an easy life, mostly on the shelf.. Body is unused, also includes 2 other painted wide arch lexan capri shells, all are pro painted. Includes honda body (used) and 4 off BBS wheels standard offset in white with soft slicks (used 30 mins. This thing is massive (575mm wheelbase, aprox 750mm long, 340mm wide). No radio included, but has multiplex steer servo. Also have Marder Race 04 version again little use. 26 cc 04 top end (just re ringed), full krikke alloy engine mounts/ gear carrier. Includes a set of truck on road wheels and tyres. twin hitec steer servos (very strong and fast). again no radio. Marder has had aprox 3 hours use, not abuse like most. all parts in excellent condition. This lots cost me a tidy 4 fuguire sum so open to SENSIBLE offers. Thanks for looking. unpainted lexan 1/4 scale mini shell, unfitted and brand new.

ive got a complete but battared King Blackfoot going. It needs a new body, rear mount and driveshaft. Was my sons runner for the garden, has box in perfect condition, should be an easy restore, includes unused decals, manual, etc..... body is a wrote off, some wear on rear tyres and i glued up the sloppy servo saver. little use but it had a hard life with a 7 yr old at the wheel. no radio gear included. make me an offer if its of interest.

super champ/rough rider/scorcher/ranger wanted.......

For restoration, modified, mint condition W.H.Y. Idealy looking for a runner. -
Hobbythek and Krikke racing for good deals abroad. GM models seem to be pretty good (well, as good as it gets in rip-off britain. Modelracer forums for good secondhand deals on parts and cars. Glad to see you went for a propper largescale, if HPI are going to make a stand in the largescale racing scene they are going to have to do a sight better than the 5B.

Does anyone live in / near Hemel Hempstead?

Im just up the road in lieghton buzzard, the blast shook my house and woke us all up. My brother in law was opining up the building next door to the site at 6am (hes a security guard) and was blown off his feet by the blast, all the windows went in on him, hes pretty shook up and we have had to ban party poppers at xmas, hes a little jumpy! -
i honestly think the hornet transmission will take any motor you can throw at it provided its propperly ballraced. My old hornet 20 yrs back took a lot of abuse and the only thing left working was the transmission. the halfshafts from memory are usually the weak point on any RC car, especially offroad but on the hornet they are solid with no dogbones to worry about, the cars very light too. I will be slotting a 15x2 in to my hornet after xmas, and a 19x2 into a grasshopper... so il let you know how it goes. My only worry will be what motor the frog can take as from memory the trans was a weak point on that car so il start with a 19 and keep an eye on the trans. I reckon youl be 100% safe with a 23 though.

Sounds like you would have liked one of my past capris...... 235/50 13 B F Goodrich tyres on 13 by 10j compomotive split rims (yes, it was a double x pack capri).... Was featured in classic ford (classic escort more like) in march 98 some years before i brought it...... It was kinda "one of them cars i should never have sold" I had a mk2 with the "minder" style x pack when i was 19 (quite a while back now), and she too ran 205/60s on them lurvely 7.5j x pack 4 spokes...... -
So i signed for it and us being like we are (we allways open each others stuff) i thought, "cor, ths is a fair sized parcel"... So i untaped the wrapping and found myself looking at a brand new boxed Re-Re hornet!!! [:0] Hmmmm, i thought, id better re wrap this one! So i carefully rewrapped it up and stuck it outside the front door, sure enough she came home and stuffed it in the downstairs cupboard.... Iether she has a new found interest or im getting a hornet for xmas!!

Being heavily into the modded old ford scene myself id love to see how they can enforce it.. When i asked my insurers years ago on what they class as "modded" they said anything that is not a ford part so effectively then i could have slotted a cossie YB into my 2.1 capri... Er, erm, well they said.... The whole thing is a total grey area.... Think about it, when you get new tyres, are they thje origional supplied make of tyre, no, of course not!!! well that, according to insurers is a modification.... Its all a load of balony!! (i stopped buying classic ford when it turned into classic escort). -
Being a largescale driver for a few years now i can honestly say i wouldnt touch one! Wether they end up being competitevely raeced has yet to be seen, but... interesting to see that they take an HPI only tyre, wheres all the other buggys (hormann, lauterbacher, harm, FG) take a common size tyre that runs right across the range. The wheels are also a different fitment wheres all the others take the same square hub adapter. I could also question wether HPI will plan to release the LSD, hydro brakes etc etc (i very much doubt it). If you want to go largescale its well worth sticking to the known brands. The HPIs ability to compete competitevelly is questionable. For the money it costs you can do far far better, for example for the same money you could get a marder race with the worthwhile upgrades (alloy hubs, front disc brakes etc etc). I honestly think a standard £450 marder will easily outdo one of these 5Bs. The engine that comes with the 5B has hpis own label, which leads me to believe its some cheap chiniese copy of the G230 RC. £750 would get you a much better spec REAL largescale beast to play with.

ive fitted a 26cc barrel+ piston a while back in place of my 04 23cc barrel+piston... It ran fine for a while, and i changed the first ring after 3 hours like you should do get a really good engine. Problem is ive never reset the carb to compensate for the change in cc.... The past 3 times ive used the engine it gets up to speed and then feels like its holding back, it sounds "hollow" (thats the best way i can describe it). I thought it may be the failsafe cutting in so i renewed the old reciever battery but im having the same problem. The engine ticks over fine but seems very stop start under power. Does anyone know the factory settings for the G260 RC04? Thanks muchly in advance! (the engines in a marder race by the way).
