  1. Looks like the red truck out of mad max (just a little more high rise).... Top work. Where did the supercharger/streetscoop assy come from, is it part of origional shell?
  2. releases??? I know the origionals are obviously worth more but surelly the re-re has dented the origionals value in some way... Out of pure interest does anyone know tamiya would consider re re-ing the super champ, scorcher and so on?? Just thome thoughts.
  3. OK, i have a confession........ I remember painting a nieghbours gate while he was on hols for him, when he came back he was just giving me me fiver when i noticed a tamiya box in his shed, on closer inspection it was the ford ranger, so instead of giving me the fiver he gave me that..... After a time i decided to give the body a mkeover, with a lighter!!! i heated the body on the inside in select places then pressed in the plastic giving the apearence of dents, i also painted on the rust in all the usual places!! i thought it looked great at the time... I never know what happened to it, its now in the great scrap yard in the sky, along with my hornet, frog, brat and so on....
  4. Exactly mate, my colt was awesome fast (untill a tripple 20 ft backflip after hitting a cats eye at full tilt)... It easily gave my 3.5cc nitro fusion a run for its money, and wiped the floor clean with a mates HPI evo 2 which is vurtually the same spec... Sadly the state the car is in now its what they call "beyond economical repair" and im serously considering the newer colt pro alloy version! Dont get me wrong, the colt has its faults and up untill the big off i allways found it cheap to repair and easy to get on with. Ive seen the basic tamiyas at around 125 quid ready to run, even for the very low spec this does seem stupidly cheap!!
  5. First off my appoligies if my question may show a small amount of dissrespect towards the brand, but....... I have had a nitro fusion and i know the cars 3 times the price, ok then, ive also had a colt, this came with... A force 15 engine... A tuned pipe.... Oil filled fully adjustable shocks... A 2 speed gearbox... And was suppplied ready to run cheaper than the basic tamiya which has... An os 12 engine... Friction shocks.... A single speed gearbox.... And a hidious standard cast alloy exhaust..... Question is, are these cars any good for the money, as theyre not exactly the cheapest brand when it comes to nitros.
  6. Well, if you include all buggys then i have to say i own the fuglyiest one ever... The FG marder couldnt have looked any worse, BUT, the grin factor makes up for it!!
  7. Hmmmm, just like i did with the origionals! Question is, are the old transmisions up to todays modded motor standards? I remember my hornet was fast enough, but id live to slot my 13 double and esc into one!!
  8. Hi, im a born again tamiya man..... Now, the dilema.... I will be getting a couple of the re issues... Do i use em and hop em up, or do i stick em in my cabnet?
  9. Too late!!! too late!!! Im working on the Hornet for xmas from the wife.... And a frog a few weeks after for my birthday.... And hopefully there will be some grasshoppers left to complete a set of the three classic buggys... Lets just hope they dont re release the sand scorcher sometime soon! or il be propper broke!!!
  10. Cheers mate.... I may get the hornet if theyre are any left (and fit it with a 15 or 19 and schumacher 12R speedo i have spare), if i remember rightly it was one of the quickest out the box, it wiped the floor with my frog anyway....
  11. cheers again for the welcome... Im not new to tamiya by any means... past owned.. Frog. Hornet. Ranger. Wild willy (the girls loved it). Subaru brat. Escort cosworth x3. Original mini, (this was fun with a 15 turn, but ate front tyres!!). Toms supra. King blackfoot.
  12. Hmmmmm, A monster beetle conversion for my marder race. Maybe a new hornet like i got when i was 8.
  13. Just a quick reply from an FG owner. Go for an offroad if you can, theres hardly anywhere big anough to open my touring car up. I have the marder "race" version which is good value and comes with the bigger tyres, wider offset rims and better shocks amongst many other things... Dont let anyone tell you marders cant cut it anymore, ive seen £500 basic marders compete against £1400 hormans/lauterbachers and win many events. One of the top drivers in the largescale offroad scene runs a standard marder on a budget. Go for it mate, they run for an hour on 50 pence worth of unleaded, going petrol was the best thing i did, i sold up all my nitros...
  14. Oh , i will, i want a hornet so i can feel like im 8 yrs old again, and a frog so i can feel like in 6 yrs old again, and a scorcher because i was too young to remember them new!! Thanks for the welcome al.
  15. just thought id make myself known..... Saldy no longer own tamiyas myself, but my son ownes a very very well used blackfoot and castrol toms supra. I myself have a couple of FG models now, an F1 tunnel hull and a scrap colt nitro that im breaking up for spares.
