  1. im making some up and reckon i will be able to sell a set of four for £20 + post if anyones interested. they have the large centre hole and the 5 small holes for the screws but thats it, they give the appearance of a solid centreline wheel. just guaging interest really as ive done my own and i thought maybe others would like some. sorry, i cant do the spokes and these will only be the outside wheel faces, i cant do centres or rears and pollishing them is up to you.
  2. well, i got it today, its all cut and painted, decided on orange, dont ask me why but i allways liked orange as a muscle car colour (my cappa is orange too[H])...still not sure i made the right choice. the wheels sit about 5mm in, not ideal but at least they have a small amount of protection as i will defo run this car at milton keynes against the touring cars for a giggle (ya cant beat the american muscle!!!)... all in all turned out ok, but aint cutting wheel arches a pain...... just waiting for the wife to sticker it now, plain orange with none of the sponsor decals on.
  3. Ah, yes, well i ordered 4 of the wide rears as its a 200mm shell going on a 190mm chassis, but modelsport dont think so, they are sending me two fronts and 2 rears, i hope it works out ok, the chassis is addball, its really a 195 mm axis which makes wheel choice tricky. i take it (and hope) the wheels are a standard hex fitment, ive tried not to have too much to do with hpi, the aftersales support is truly awfull.
  4. What you need to do is change the wires around on the motor, then reverse the channel for the ESC, then reset the esc, basicly the car thinks its in reverse and as far as i know most ESCs are slower in reverse.
  5. Drat! thats who ive ordered from, hopefully they have the savy to contact me and work out i need 4 wheels and tyres, and pushes the price up about a tenner more...
  6. ive ordered 1 set of wheels and tyres, but im wondering if they come as a set of 4 or as a pair?
  7. had the same problem with my re re. ive removed the two outer o rings (wheel side) and had no problems since with running. also found the buckle on the outer cv gaiter cable ties catching on the inside of the swing arms so removed the cable ties too.
  8. With the frog on a 15 turn and my lad with his baja champ on a standard motor. i thought the baja was pretty poo to be honest, very slow adn grounded out far to easy, ok for him though. the frog on a 15 turn with low gearing was faster and great for powerslides on the supergrippers, but wished id have put padletraks on it now. the 15 turn frog ran fine on the MSC, but i did make sure i held it flat out all the time so as not to burn the resistor. to be honest both felt oh so slow, but after driving largescale petrol offroad for a few years i suppose they would. had some interesting moments with the frog getting chased by dogs. oh, and my lad broke the rear wing on the frog by driving into the back of it, anyone know how myuch and where from? i take it you gota buy the whole body to get the wing?
  9. Ah, now you talk my language... as of yet no mk2 shells are available that i know of, only the mk2 RS2K is availible in a 1/12 lexan for the mardave V12s. the mk1 shell is available though in a 1/10th lexan though, both in 190 and 200 mm widths, i have a couple, the 200 mm one im doing at the moment in modena green has 4 frog spots on the front, they look just like the 2 up 2 down oscars, its coming together nicely and will be run on my fusion. the 190 mm will be run on a tb 02 chassis which will be converted to just RWD for some doughnutting fun...
  10. Still dont get it though... why spend 400 on it when you can get a clod for half that and have a **** sight more fun with it. im trying to work out what im missing here.
  11. Maybe im missing something but seems awfully expensive for whats basicly a monster truck with a gearbox, then you have to have a 4 channel to run the thing. now im no tightwad to spending money on rc (£1800 on a largescale capri for instance) but it does seem awfully steep for a 1/10 ellectric monster truck. enlighten me!
  12. I have for sale a genuine marder (not a carson attack, duratrax firehammer, big happy fun car), this is a genuine FG. it has fitted a 26 cc Zenoah engine (not the newer type CY zenoah copy) that was recently re ringed (engine has aprox 6 hours on it, i allways re ring my engines every three hours), engine has allways been run on optimax and castrol XR7 racing oil (the best, no racing venom in my engines thanks). it has full alloy engine mounts which is really a much needed upgrade on these beasts. has only ever been run on grass, couple of tiny scratches on chassis but still vurtually new, tyres still look brand new. as with the race model it comes with the wider offset rims, bigger tyres, steel pinion, big daddy shocks, radio box, front bumper, gear protectorstill fitted. its been rolled a few times and as some of you my know the fg shells dont take this to well, there is a hairline crack in the rear spoiler, and a few minor cracks in the roof, however the shell is still unpainted and is easily repaired. there is no radio gear with the car but i am able to offer twin hitec steer servos. there is also a brand new lexan qtr scale mini shell included which is still unpainted and a set of 4 truck slicks which have about 10 mins use on them. would consider swap for scorcher/anything interesting. would sell for around 400 for the lot.
  13. Cheers all. paddlatraks it is i reckon....
  14. No Acorn, my gearings pefect, ive had 128 showing on the speedo (on a private test track of course), thats 3 more an any of my two-eights managed, and 8 more than any three litre ive had, and it gets there a sight quicker than both of the big vee,s. Dont envy the 280 boys mate, the 3.0S allways was and allways will be the king!
  15. Thatl do, to pair with that would be a 15 double motor, but the next thing is defo a set of ball race bearings and a propper metal prop before you go too mad, the plastic prop is useless. after that lot grip will be a major issue, ive allways used a T27 carpet tyre, allthough its an indoor tyre ive found em really good on all of my nitros, a set of decent oil shocks will also be needed. i believe carson have discontinued the zak shells now.
  16. Sorted it tonight. fitted the MSC plate from an old K Blackfoot i had, fits in the hole but not perfect so raided a hornet for its steering link arm to link the MSC to a servo, turned out fine. have fitted a 15 turn and geared the box right down low to try and take the strain off the motor a little, as it will be run on loose sand im hoping this wont load the motor up too much. only concern is the battery and motor wires in the latest MSCs dont look half as thick as the ones on my origional frog.
  17. Cheers for the advice mate, il try a 19 turn on it to start with, was planing on just keeping the thing flat out on the beech and hardly using the first and second speeds, maybe even detaching the resistor copletely so its like a hair trigger full speed type thing, was hoping the lack of grip on sand wouldnt load the motor up too much anyway, il let you know how it goes. had a couple of 280s, first one was in 98, pretty rotten to be honest so i drive the mot out of it and stripped the valuable wheels, leather and slip off it and made 500 more than what i payed for the car, used the profits to buy a much better condition 3.0S. the second 280 came through my hands about a year ago after having been stolen, recovered and left in a garden to rot for 9 years... rotten wasnt the word, it was gone everywhere...paid 300 for it, stripped it for parts and got around 1300 back, kept the wheels tho, theyre on my 2 litre now. had about 23 capris in total from a mk1 1300 right through to a mk3 S 3100 x pack, the hot tuned pinto is by far the one ive had most fun driving though, way quicker 0-60 than iether the essex or cologne V6 in standard form, its got the cam, st2 head, dcoe sidedraughs and i kept the 1.6 4 speed and axle..its a flying machine, propper little screamer!
  18. is it as easy as it was as fitting it into the origional frog? are all the fixings there, anyone done it? i need one of mine to have the retro look to it, also what turn motor can a MSC take (was hoping for a 15 double)?
  19. ha.... i just knew youd ask that. i did extensive searching a while back and heres what i came up with. carson did a 1/10 zakspeed shell in the mampe colours with decals, i have a few but to be honest its hardly what youd call to scale, it looks more like a cartoon car. kamtek do a 1/8th mk1 shell that fits my 1/8th rallycross EB4 really well, i like it. my absolute fave though is my 1/5th mk1 RS3100 shell thats on my FG tourer, hobbytech have just released a mk3 zakspeed shell for the FG tourers as well. there also a mk1 shell avaiabe for the mardave v12 range. at the moment thats about it, ive got a couple of mk1 escort 1/10th shells on the way, both lexan one in a 190mm width and one in a 200 for my nitro car. what esc did you order, i got an m tronics one recently pretty cheap that takes motors down to 11 turns, and one of them motors will really make your tt-01 fly!
  20. Oh, you do know me martin... i think the last one i owned when you knew me to have a capri was 3 litres and an X pack... now have a sweet period modded 2 litre 4 speed with the obligatory 40s and a stupid camshaft...its more fun and faster than any 6 potter ive had so far. Small world the internet, lol. hows your mate doing after he traded his capri for a hairdressers car?
  21. will be running a couple of vintage buggies next week on the beach (1 x frog brushless ) and my sons hornet 15 double ) and wondering what tyre to use. also should i use bearings on the beach or is that not such a good idea?
  22. Hello Martin, long time no speak. sounds like water ingress, my sons tamiya supplied ESC is also a bit fussy when it comes to water for some reason. first upgrade on your car would really be bearings, then ESC and motor, i ran against some TT01s in my club for a while with by TB02 and i wasnt much faster, not a bad beginers car but consider upgrade to TB02 before spending huge amounts on it.
  23. he he, these golfers objected my presence by firing golfballs at me from 100 yrds, we got in the car and made a quick exit, some of them were pretty good shots, came a bit close for comfort...... just a warning for the rest of you who like to run on golf courses, they dont take it too kindly!!! By the way, KB with 17 turn was great in the bomb holes!
  24. Mike, i just think its a real shame what the kiddy racers have to put up with these days... put it this way, mk2 escorts can, and do, still win rallies against much more modern technical jap stuff, and capris make superb track day cars whether 4,6 or 8 cylinders!!! most youngsters have never really experienced a fast rear wheel drive car, which is a real shame... its all bodykits and neons these days, not like it used to be at all. il shut up now before i start to sound like an old git!
  25. Hi Steve. The spec of my engine is a 2090cc using machined 2.8i pistons. bottom end is lightened and ballanced along with the clutch and flywheel. carburation is a 38 dgas (could never get on with 45s on the road, nasty midrange flatspots), ported inlets, FR32 cam, heavier springs and alloy vernier. Have a stage 2 head with bigger valves. Ashley manifold and system with rear box and chav 3 inch tailpipe removed and changed for a much more subtle looking janspeed tailpipe with rolled lip. Just cant figuire out the valve clearences, i should know by now. Had a few spells with modern cars, mk2 MR2, and a runaround pug 405 Mi16 which i have now, all nice and comfy and all that but just dont do it for me at all. A friend of mine in the capri world (i have quite a few) runs a 24v cossie, nothing new in that, its a common conversion these days, but he has binned the injection and fitted tripple downdraghs off a porsche, get this though, running through a 2.8i 4 speed box and a 1.6!!! back axle with LSD, it eats anything modern on acceleration this side of £50k but it tops out at around 110. incidently last saturday i was taking a spin in the now famous black eastenders capri down in woking, thats a really nice clean car!!
