  3. i'm selling my new built, but never run blitzer beetle. the car is in perfect condition and has had all the plastic bushes replaces with proper ballraces so it would make a great runner for some lucky person! i can email anyone interested some pictures, make me offer..
  4. I'l bet it increased the re sale value of an old Toyota pick up overnight

Maybe Not the clod because of its big ugly limiting tube chassis, but a TXT-1 will leave the maxxes feet below. id="quote">id="quote">I think this is an interesting argument, myself stu.b and stulec, ran a mixture of an e-maxx, a modified clodbuster and a TXT-1 on some very steep, rough hills http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=4408&id=567 we found they all climbed very similarly. on very smooth terrain the solid axle trucks seemed to be able to create more outright traction than the independant suspension of the e-maxx, however on the rough stuff the e-maxx was able to soak up more bumbs and was much easier to point in the direction you wanted it to go, with the clod and txt, it was a case of point it and go and hope it held its coarse. ithink this is to do with unsprung weight, with the clodbuster the motors, gearboxes and axles are all unsprung which basically means they bounce. when they bounce the wheels aren't on the ground so they can't grip...
  6. it was mardave that got me into RC, my first car was a mardave ministock, that was the toughest little car ever. it's now done about a million miles and been seriously crashed as many times!! and it still runs fine! also ran a few mardave meteors years ago. it's fair to say mardave built/build the strongest RC cars. don't think I ever broke anything apart from the bodyshells!
  7. i've ordered stuff from tower a couple of times....i don't remember seeing an option to mark the box as a gift!
  8. i just got me an rc10 b4 .... it seem like a well thought out piece of kit
  9. i'm another mini fanatic.. i've spent far to much m oneyon mine it now looks quite nice, goes pretty well and handles like its on rails however it's still a **** car by modern day standards....it rattles it creaks and is generaly a pretty uncomfortable place to be!!! but i still think its great! I think old tamiya's are the same they may not be that great compared with modern stuff but everyone still loves them...... why the arguing?
  10. ---i suggest cutting the comm----- I dont understand what you mean? cutting the comm..... the comm or comutator is the gold coloured bit in your motor where the brushes touch. cutting the comm is when you use a comm lathe to machine off the top surface of the comm, thereby increasing the amount of power the brushes can transfer. skimming the comm is a very effective way of both making you motor faster and also maintaining it.
  11. what sort, number of cells are you using?... also how many amps are you charging at?
  12. have a look under LRP modified motors, and scroll to the bottom of the list, i think this is the motor your after... http://www.modelsportuk.com/
  13. moving slightly off topic, but still interesting. the origonal predator buggy had a very pretty carbon fibre tub chassis. this was later changed to the now common plastic composite stuff. i'd imagine these early cars are probably very rare now as the quality of the suspension components was terrible!!!
  14. no standard 540 is ever that fast!! what you want is a nice 9turn modified motor and some 3300mah batteries, and a top end speedo to handle the power. now your ready for some serious speed!!!!!
  15. this is my most viewed......99 so far....http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=7605&id=567 it's not even a tamiya !!![8)]
  16. sounds good bugsy!!!
  17. yeah the XC is good fun, but as you say pretty unstable. I suppose it's more of crawler than a racer so the handling is never going to be great. the only mods I've made to my XB pajero was to get rid of the bumper and add an aluminium skid plate in it's place that goes right back to front pickups for the trailing arms, also changed the crappy friction dampers, now its got blitzer beetle front shocks and good old mardave meteor shocks at the back!! much improved articulation!!
  18. the shell was about about £1300 I think. was it a solid shell when I bought it?? not sure what your asking? but the front bolts on and off .....
  19. hi adam, I got the shell from a place in newcastle called the "Toy Shop" ( very fitting name!!) the paint was done locally , Glasgow. I like your foot note, I hear the same voices!!! I pop out to the shops and end up driving about for hours!!! mini's are addictive!!
  20. sorry about the duff link TamiyaNewbie, i've added my mini to my show room now, i'll try and get some more pics up loaded soon. from one mini nut to another what d'you think of it?
  21. here is mine, http://uk.photos.yahoo.com/bc/rossco_4/vwp....src=ph&.view=t

I generally ran a 12 x 2 modified which made things interesting!!! I think for a 5 minute race off-road we used 16 - 17 tooth pinions, the diff is pretty bomb proof.....losi make great, smooth diffs. I don't think it should be making a clicking noise when accelerating, the hydradrive is a bit like a turbine with vanes that transmit drive through very thick, viscous oilly stuff. there are no touching internal components that would click??!!! what motor / gearing are you using??

yeah i've got one.....great car, I used to race it off-road a few years back. one of the best things about it was the suspension, handled the bumps great! generally a very tough, strong car however the camber links at the back did break quite often. what do you want to know about setting it up??
  25. I work as an architectural technoligist, which means I get to design buildings..........it's like playing with lego but on a grander scale!!!!
